Description of the Related Art In an electron tube for controlling an electron beam in a vacuum, such as a cathode ray tube, it is necessary to perform vacuuming after assembling electrodes and the like. Therefore, an exhaust pipe made of glass is provided in the vacuum vessel of the electron tube, and after evacuation is performed from the exhaust pipe, a part of the exhaust pipe is heated and melted by a heater to be sealed. To keep the inside of the electron tube vacuum. However, glass exhaust pipes need to be heated and melted for sealing, cannot be made thick and strong due to their heat capacity, and because of their construction they protrude from the vacuum vessel, so they cannot withstand impact forces. And was easily damaged. Therefore, a structure for protecting the exhaust pipe after evacuation has been conventionally proposed and implemented.

A vacuum vessel is formed by the panel 10 and the funnel 11, and an electron gun 13 is provided inside the neck portion 12, and a terminal 14 is provided. An exhaust pipe 15 made of glass is provided at the tip of the neck portion 12, and after evacuation, a portion of the exhaust pipe 15 is heated and melted by a heater to seal the portion, and the portion before the sealing portion 16 is sealed. Is disconnected. Then, a cap 17 made of synthetic resin is provided for protection of the exhaust pipe 15, fixed by fitting it into the terminal 14, and by surrounding the exhaust pipe 15, the shock applied to the exhaust pipe 15 is subjected to impact resistance through the cap 17. And the exhaust pipe 15 is not affected by impact.

In flat-panel image display devices and the like, which are being developed in recent years, it is difficult to provide terminals around the exhaust pipe.
It has been desired to develop an exhaust pipe protection device that can protect the exhaust pipe without a terminal or a shock-resistant member in its place around or near the exhaust pipe.

Further, by filling the inside of the outer shell member with an adhesive having elasticity, the adhesive makes it possible to eliminate a terminal or a shock-resistant member in place of the terminal around or near the exhaust pipe.
The outer member can be fixed, and the occurrence of thermal stress due to the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the members bonded by the elasticity of the adhesive can be prevented, and the exhaust pipe can be stably protected over time. .

The glass container 5 and the flat container 6 are sealed with a frit 9a to form a vacuum container as a whole. An electrode unit 7 is provided inside, and a terminal 8 extends outside from the electrode unit 7 through the sealing surfaces of the glass container 5 and the flat container 6. The exhaust pipe 1 is inserted into a hole provided in the glass container 5, and is bonded with a frit 9b. After the evacuation pipe 1 is evacuated, a part of the evacuation pipe 1 is heated and melted by a heater to form a sealing part 2.
Is cut off. In this embodiment, the exhaust pipe 1
As a material for the above, lead glass having a low softening point and a wide softening temperature range is used due to the necessity of melting by heating. The outer shell member 3 is in contact with the glass container 5 and the glass container 5 and the exhaust pipe 1
Is provided so as to surround from the abutting portion to the sealing portion 2 which is the tip of the sealed exhaust pipe 1, and the inside of the outer casing member 3 is filled with an adhesive 4 having elasticity. In the present embodiment, as the material of the adhesive 4, a silicon bond having elasticity even after being cured is used.

Since it is provided so as to surround the sealed portion 2 which is the tip of the sealed exhaust pipe 1, the outer shell member 3 first receives the impact force, and then the impact force is dispersed throughout the adhesive 4. . The dispersed impact force is absorbed by the contact portion between the outer casing member 3 and the glass container 5 and the elastic deformation of the adhesive 4. In the above process, the impact force is not directly applied to the exhaust pipe 1, and the exhaust pipe 1 is protected.
