2. Description of the Related Art In a display device such as a liquid crystal display device which requires thinning and miniaturization, an LSI for driving a base film is used as an element for driving a display.
Is used. This TCP has one end connected to the display panel side via an anisotropic conductive adhesive or the like, and the other end connected to a substrate via solder or an anisotropic conductive adhesive. In order to prevent connection failure due to winding of the film, temporary connection is performed with a double-sided adhesive or the like.

Conventionally, in order to perform this temporary fixing, a tape is used in which a plurality of double-sided adhesives are applied on a backing paper (or release paper) at intervals corresponding to the intervals of TCP. Since the double-sided adhesive is separated according to TCP, after removing the backing after applying the double-sided adhesive to the board, when one or more of the double-sided adhesive is attached to the backing, May peel off, TCP
In some cases, it was not possible to perform the temporary fixing properly.

Next, TC for forming the adhesive 4
The P temporary fixing tape 40 will be described with reference to FIGS. This temporary fixing tape 40 is formed by applying an adhesive 4 capable of being bonded on both sides in a strip shape on an elongated backing sheet 41 having a width smaller than the width of the substrate 5, and forming the TCP 3 on the adhesive 4 to a length L 1 of the TCP 3. Non-adhesive spacer 42 with corresponding spacing L2
Are arranged, and an elongated release paper 43 having the same function and the same shape as the mount 41 is arranged thereon.

The mount 41 has a length approximately equal to the length of the substrate 5 and is in an elongated shape having a width approximately half the width of the substrate 5. As the adhesive 4, a known adhesive can be used, provided that the adhesive 4 has a stable adhesive strength between the substrate 5 and the TCP 3 and is easily peeled off from the backing paper 41 or the release paper 43. This adhesive 4 is used for the TCP connected to the substrate 5.
Instead of being separated every three, a predetermined number (6 in this example)
Over the length of the range in which the predetermined number (six in this example) of the TCP3 are arranged so as to be continuous with the TCP3), that is, over the length longer than the total length of the predetermined number of the TCP3. It is applied to the backing paper. Adhesive 4 is 1
It is most preferable to use one continuous band-like adhesive for a plurality of TCPs 3 on one substrate 5. However, when one substrate is long and the number of TCPs 3 is large, two adhesives are used for one substrate.
By using up to three temporary fixing tapes 40, the adhesive 4 can be separated into two or three places. The spacer 42 is for preventing the adhesive 4 continuous over the plurality of TCPs 3 from being exposed from the space between the TCPs 3, and has at least a surface having a non-adhesive structure.

An assembling method for assembling the display device 1 using the temporary fixing tape 40 having the above configuration will be described. A plurality of TCPs 3 are positioned and arranged along a side of the display panel 2 at a predetermined interval from each other.
Of the display panel 2 via an anisotropic conductive adhesive or the like.
Thermocompression bonded to one side. Next, the temporary fixing tape 4
Then, the backing sheet 41 is peeled off, and the back surface of the adhesive 4 is attached to a predetermined position on the substrate 5. Next, the release paper 43 of the temporary fixing tape 40 is peeled off to expose the surface of the adhesive 4 and the spacer 42 thereon as shown in FIG. 5, and the other end 34 of the TCP 3 is exposed to the exposed adhesive. The TCP 3 is temporarily fixed to the substrate 5 by positioning and attaching to the substrate 4. Here, since the adhesive 4 is formed in a single strip shape for a plurality of, in this example, six TCPs 3, when peeling the release paper 43, only the release paper 43 can be peeled off. One TC
It is possible to prevent a situation in which the adhesive is peeled off together with the release paper as in the conventional case where the adhesive is separated corresponding to P. Next, the other end 34 of the TCP 3 and the connection terminal portion of the substrate 5 are fixed via the conductive adhesive 6,
Make electrical connections.

When a TCP and a substrate are provided on the other side of the display panel 2, the same operation as described above is performed in parallel on the other side, so that the TCP and the necessary parts around the display panel 2 are provided. When assembling the display device 1 assembled as described above into another device (not shown), the TCP 3 on the substrate 5 and the TCP 3
Since the gap portion 3 may be used as a support surface of a substrate support member (not shown) or the like, if the adhesive is exposed at this gap portion, the work may be performed by the adhesive during assembly or repair. Performance may be reduced. Also, T on the substrate 5
The space between CP3 and TCP3 may be used as a surface on which a substrate support member and other members (not shown) slide when the display device 1 is incorporated into another device (not shown) by a sliding method. If the adhesive is exposed in the space, the workability may be reduced due to the adhesive at the time of assembly or repair, as in the above case. Thus, it is desired that the space between the TCPs 3 on the substrate 5 be a surface having no adhesive property. In response to such a request, TCP3 on the substrate 3 and TCP3
Since the spacer 42 having no adhesiveness on the surface is disposed in the space portion of the above, when the display device 1 is incorporated in another device,
At the time of assembling or repairing, the workability due to the adhesive 4 is prevented from being reduced by the spacer 42, so that assembling workability and repairing workability can be improved.

The spacer 42 may be a thin plate made of a synthetic resin such as PET, but may be a coating film having no adhesiveness due to drying or curing (thermal curing, ultraviolet curing, etc.). If such a coating film that does not have adhesiveness due to drying or curing is used as the spacer 42, the spacer 42 can be arranged by the coating film, and the arrangement workability is improved, and temporary fixing is performed. Adhesion workability with the tape 40 can also be improved.

In the above embodiment, the case where the display panel 2 and the substrate 5 are arranged on substantially the same plane has been described. However, in the present invention, the angle between the display panel 2 and the substrate 5 is about 90 degrees to about 180 degrees. It can also be applied to the case where TCP 3 is bent during the arrangement. In addition, the liquid crystal display device has been described as an example, but the present invention can be applied to other display devices.

As described above, according to the present invention, since the adhesive for the temporary fixing tape is formed in a single band for a plurality of TCPs, the adhesive is not peeled off when the release paper is peeled off. Only the paper can be peeled off, and the temporary fixing of the TCP can be performed more reliably. In addition, since a spacer having no adhesive property is arranged on the space between the TCPs on the substrate, when the display device is incorporated into another device, workability with an adhesive during assembly or repair is required. Is prevented by this spacer, and the assembling workability and repair workability can be improved.
