し、特にカットシート状の受像フィルムを印字部に自動
給紙して印字を行う記録装置の改良に関するものであ
る。 【0002】 【従来の技術】感熱転写記録装置は、サーマルヘッドと
プラテンローラとの間にインクリボンと共に受像シート
を送り込み、サーマルヘッド先端の発熱体の発熱と、サ
ーマルヘッドとプラテンローラとの間の加圧力とによっ
てインクリボン上のインクを溶融、或は昇華させて受像
シート上に転写する印字方式を用いている。ところで、
従来の感熱転写記録装置における受像シートの給紙方法
としては、ロール状のシートからの自動給紙や、カット
シートの自動給紙が一般に採用されているが、受像シー
トを自動給紙する装置のオペレータにとっては、印字中
に突然ペーパーエンドとなることによる種々の不具合を
回避する為に、シートの残量を事前に知りたいという要
求が強い。特開平4−116054号公報には、機器内
部に保持されたロール状のシートから引き出されて印字
部で印字を受けた後で機器から排出されるシートの裏面
に、そのシートの終端部から所定の長さにわたって残量
を示す残量表示手段を予め施すと共に、機器の排出口に
はシートの残量を示す表示部を記載しておき、排出され
るシート上の残量表示手段が表示部を横切る位置により
用紙の残量を知る様にした技術が開示されている。しか
し、カットシート状の受像シートを用いる感熱記録装置
はその大半が一枚づつの手差し給紙方式であり、仮に給
紙カセット内に積層収納した受像シートから一枚づつ印
字部に給紙するタイプがあったとしても、カセット内部
の残量を目視により確認することは不可能であった。フ
ォトセンサ等を用いた複雑な残量検知機構を用いること
は、コスト等の点からして不利である。 【0003】 【発明の目的】本発明は上記に鑑みてなされたものであ
り、給紙カセット内に積層状態で収納したカットシート
状の受像フィルムを一枚づつ印字部に給紙する機構を備
えた感熱転写記録装置において、複雑な残量検知機構等
を用いることによるコストアップ等を招くことなく、給
紙カセット内の受像フィルムの残量を目視により常に確
認することができる感熱転写記録装置を提供することを

ットシート状の受像フィルム上に印字を行う印字部と、
該受像フィルムを表面側を下向きにした状態で積層収納
したフィルムカセットと、該フィルムカセット内の該受
像フィルムを最上部から一枚づつ取り出して該印字部に
供給する給紙手段とを備えた感熱記録装置において、各
受像フィルムの裏面には夫々枚数番号を積層順番に記載
し、上記フィルムカセットの適所には最上部のフィルム
の裏面に記載した上記枚数番号を目視可能に露出させる
為の窓を開口形成したことを特徴とする。 【0005】 【実施例】以下、添付図面に基づいて本発明の一実施例
を詳細に説明する。図1は本発明の一実施例の感熱転写
装置の概略構成を示す縦断面図であり、図2(a) 及び
(b) はフィルムカセットの構成を示す平面図及び正面図
である。この感熱転写装置は、カットシート状の受像フ
ィルム上に印字を行う印字部1と、該受像フィルム2を
表面側を下向きにした状態で積層収納したフィルムカセ
ット3と、該フィルムカセット3内の該受像フィルム2
を最上部から一枚づつ取り出して該印字部に供給する給
紙手段4とを備えている。印字部1は、サーマルヘッド
5と、該サーマルヘッド5の先端部と対向配置されたプ
ラテンローラ6と、インクリボン7と、インクリボン供
給ロール8と、インクリボン巻取ロール9とを有する。
フィルムカセット3は、感熱転写装置の筐体に設けた着
脱部10に着脱自在に装着されるケース11と、ケース
内に上下動可能に配置されて上面に受像フィルム2を積
層状態で載置する底板12と、底板を常時上方へ付勢す
る板バネ13と、ケース11の上面適所に形成された番
号目視用の窓14と、給紙用の開口15とを有する。給
紙用の開口15には給紙手段4としてのピックアップコ
ロ16が入り込んで最上部の受像フィルム2を取り出す

部の受像フィルムに記載する番号を1とし、最上部の受
像フィルムに記載する番号を最終枚数を表す数字とす
る。また、上記窓14はカセット3を転写装置に装着し
た時に、外部に露出するケース部分に形成するため、最
上部に位置する受像フィルムの裏面に形成したこれらの
数字は、いずれも窓14から一目で確認することがで
き、オペレータは残枚数を容易に知ることができ、プリ
ント中に突然ペーパーエンドとなる不測の事態の発生を

為の窓14を開口形成したので、複雑な残量検知機構等
を用いることによるコストアップ等を招くことなく、給
紙カセット内の受像フィルムの残量を目視により常に確
