【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、栽培用鉢を用いた
蓮根の栽培方法に関する。
【0002】
【従来の技術】栽培用鉢を用いた蓮根の栽培法として特
開昭50−99824号公報に開示される方法が知られ
ている。この従来の方法は、鉢内に培養液を張り、この
培養液の液面に発泡スチロールの小片を層状に浮遊せし
め、茎部は小片の間から上方に突出せしめるとともに、
発泡スチロール層によって外部からの光線が培養液に侵
入しないようにしたものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】上述した先行技術によ
れば鉢の中に礫を入れて栽培する方法に較べれば、作物
の成長を妨げる要因は少なくなっている。しかしなが
ら、培養液による培養は土壌を用いた培養に較べ、作物
の味覚が劣りやすい。また従来の方法では温度管理につ
いては何ら考慮されておらず、発泡スチロール層を培養
液表面に浮かべて熱を遮断しても、その効果は十分でな
い。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明者は長年の間、蓮
根の栽培には土壌の温度が大きく影響し、30℃を超え
ると生育が停滞するとの知見を得て本発明を成したもの
である。即ち、本発明に係る蓮根の栽培方法はプラスチ
ックなどからなる栽培用鉢を用いた栽培を前提とし、鉢
内に種はすを植付けるための粘質土壌を入れ、この粘質
土壌の上に植付けから収穫までの全期間に亘って湛水す
るとともに土壌温度を15℃〜30℃に6ヶ月以上維持
するようにした。

【発明の実施の形態】以下、本発明の実施の形態を図面
に基づいて説明する。図1は本発明に係る方法にて蓮根
を栽培している状態の斜視図、図2は同蓮根を栽培して
いる状態の断面図、図3は栽培に用いる鉢の平面図、図
4は栽培に用いる鉢の側面図である。
【0006】先ず、本発明方法の実施に用いる鉢につい
て説明する。鉢1はプラスチック(ポリエチレンなど)
あるいは陶器などからなり、その寸法は縦寸法が約60
cm、横寸法が約100cm、深さが約30cmで、上
面周囲にはフランジ部2が設けられ、底面には排水口3
が設けられている。また、底面の四隅は丸く(R=30
〜50cm)し、蓮根の根が成長して四隅部に当たって
も逃げることで形良く栽培できるようにしている。
【0007】前記フランジ部2の四隅には支柱取付穴4
を形成し、この取付穴4に支柱5を立設し、支柱5に風
除け兼遮光用のシート6を取付けている。このシート6
は主として防寒に寄与する。また、シート6(支柱5)
は常時取付けておく必要はなく、生育初期と台風の時期
など、必要に応じて取付ける。
【0008】また、鉢1は周囲を断熱用のボード7で囲
まれ、ボード7と鉢1との間には空気が流れる隙間を形
成している。このように隙間を形成することで、冷却効
果を高めることができる。
【0009】次に、上記の鉢1を用いた栽培法について
説明する。先ず、鉢1内に粘質土壌8を深さ20cm程
度入れる。蓮根の栽培では礫や土塊が混入していると形
が悪くなり、粘度土壌を用いることで、土圧により蓮根
は4節で各節が詰まった味のよい蓮根が得られる。
【0010】上記の粘質土壌8に種はす9を植付ける。
植付けは4月中旬から下旬にかけて行う。この植付けの
前に、準備を行う。準備は1鉢あたり、バーク堆肥60
0g、苦土石灰60gを2月下旬までに土壌に混練し、
植付けの数日前(例えば1週間前)に有機化成肥料を1
20g施し、植付け後の6月中旬に有機化成肥料を10
0g施す。
【0011】また、植付けから収穫までは7〜8ヶ月で
あるが、この全期間に亘って水を張る。5月中旬までは
湛水深さを9〜11cmとし、5月中旬以降は湛水深さ
を5〜 7cmとするのが好ましい。
【0012】更に本発明にあっては、直射日光による土
壌の昇温を避けるため、水面に発泡スチロールの小片1

【0013】以上において、鉢1を日当たりがよく且つ
強風による倒れのおそれがない場所、例えば家庭菜園、
ベランダ、ビニールハウス内などに設置し、土壌温度を
15℃〜30℃に維持した状態を6ヶ月以上継続する。

【発明の効果】蓮根は地上部分は高温を好み、地下部分
は低温を好む。本発明によれば、地上部分では30℃以
上でも地下部分は15〜30℃とすることで、一般家庭
で蓮根の栽培に理想的な環境を作ることができる。即
ち、従来では温度管理が面倒なため蓮根の栽培地域が限
定されていたが、本発明によれば、かかる制限がなくな
る。具体的には、1つの鉢当たり4〜7kgの蓮根が収
穫でき、この量は一家族の年間の消費量に匹敵する。ま
た、根の部分を食用として供するだけでなく、茎葉、花
