本発明は、プリンタや複写機などの画像形成装置のドラムモジュール装着機構に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
感光ドラムを備えたドラムモジュールを画像形成装置本体から引き出して、ドラムモジュールを着脱できるように構成した画像形成装置においては、ドラムモジュールの引き出し時に、ドラムモジュールに対向して配置された現像装置との接触により、感光ドラム表面に傷をつけてしまったり、あるいは、ドラムモジュールを画像形成装置本体内に押し込んで、ドラムモジュールを装着しようとする時に、ドラムモジュールの後部(画像形成装置に装着した際に奥になる側の部分)と現像装置から露出した現像ローラ上の現像剤とが接触し、現像ローラ上から削り取られた現像剤がドラムモジュール後部によって画像形成装置内の奥まで押し込まれ、装置内を汚してしまうと言った不具合が生じるため、このような不具合を防止する目的で、従来よりこの種の画像形成装置においては、ドラムモジュールの着脱作業を行う際には、現像装置を印刷時の位置に対しドラムモジュールから遠ざかる方向へ移動(リトラクト)させる機構が採り入れられている。

ところで、従来の現像装置のリトラクト機構には、リンク機構、カム機構、あるいはスプリング等によるテンションを用いた機構が採用されていたが、リンク機構やカム機構の場合は、構成が複雑になり、オペレータの操作も煩わしくなるという欠点があった。また、テンション機構の場合には、現像装置のリトラクト動作の確実性に欠けていた。

本発明の目的は、ドラムモジュールの着脱作業を行う際に、簡単な操作で確実に現像装置をリトラクトさせることが可能な画像形成装置のドラムモジュール装着機構を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するため、本発明においては、感光ドラムを収容し、画像形成装置本体に対し引き抜き可能に設けられたドラムモジュールと、画像形成装置本体に装着されたドラムモジュールに対し対向させて設けられ、前記ドラムモジュールに対し離間可能に支持された現像装置とを有する画像形成装置のドラムモジュール装着機構において、前記現像装置側面に、画像形成装置本体正面側に突出する突起を設けるとともに、現像装置内に収容された現像ローラの軸を前記現像装置側面から突出させて設け、前記画像形成装置本体に装着した時に画像形成装置本体の奥に位置する側のドラムモジュール端部には、前記突起に対し当接可能で、且つ前記突起との当接により生じる当接力を、現像装置を離間させる方向へ作用する力に変換する張り出し部を設け、前記画像形成装置本体に装着した時に画像形成装置本体の手前に位置する側のドラムモジュール端部には、前記現像ローラの軸と係合する位置決め用の貫通孔を設けてなる構成を採用した。

以下、本発明の実施例を図1、図2および図3を参照しながら説明する。

図において、感光ドラム3を収容したドラムモジュール1は、ドライブシャフト5に沿って画像形成装置の前側から筐体11内へと装填される。ドラムモジュールの枠体2の後部には、現像装置6側に張り出した突起4が設けられている。また、現像装置の枠体7の前部には、前方に突出した突起8が設けられている。ここで、本実施例では、相互の突起4,8が干渉した場合でも滑りがよいように、突起8としてローラを用いている。
