この種の細長医療用具誘導装置において、細長医療用具を軸線方向に進退駆動する手段として電動モータを用いると、構造が複雑になって使用後の洗浄消毒等にも難があるので、機械的手段を用いるのが望ましい。

上述のような細長医療用具誘導装置は、できるだけシンプルな構造で故障し難く、必要に応じて容易に分解できて、洗浄消毒等が容易である等の必要がある。しかし、ラック・ピニオン機構やカム・ピン機構等では、いずれもそのような全ての条件を満足することはできず、また部品加工にコストがかかって高価なものになってしまう欠点もある。
