このような目的を果たすために、本発明においては、血糖または血圧の上昇を抑制するための機能性食品を、ミカン科、ミカン属の一種で、フィリピン、中国南部の原産で、東南アジアで広く栽培されるキンカン類とミカン類の雑種からなる矮性柑橘類の全果(果皮を含む果実)の搾汁液を含有することを特徴とするものとした。

本発明の機能性食品は、Calamondin(国際品種名)、四季桔(しききつ/日本名)、唐金柑(とうきつかん/日本名)、Kalamansi(フィリピン名)、四季橘(中国名)と呼ばれ、学名が、Citrus microcarpa Bunge、C. mitis Blanco、C. medica var. limetta F.-VIII、C. medurensis Lour、Pseudofortunella madurensis (Louer.)
