従来より、例えば自動車の車室の内外を仕切るパネル等を通して配索されるワイヤハーネスでは、パネルに設けられている貫通孔にゴム製のグロメットが装着される。このグロメットを通してワイヤハーネスが配索されることで、グロメットとパネル貫通孔との間を確実にシールして、パネルの貫通孔から車室内へ浸水するのを防止している。
