ところで、上記のようなC型プレスは、大型の製品を加硫プレスする場合、フレームの開口部側が上下方向に開いてしまう、所謂口開きが生じ、均一な加圧力を得ることが難しいため、従来では、図3(a),(b)に示すように、上型1aを取付ける上部フレーム2と下型1bを取付ける下部フレーム3との間の凹部3を深くするためにフレーム4全体を大きくして口開きを防止したり、また図4に示すように、上部フレーム2と上型1aとの間にスィベル継手機構5を設けたり、またベット6と下部フレーム3との間に補強板7を介在させて加圧時にフレーム4の開口部側が開くのを防止させたC型プレスが知られている。
