本発明は、特に立体ギャザーの起立高さを十分に確保しながら、有効吸収体表面積を大きく取れるようにした挿入式使い捨て吸収物品に関する。

【従来の技術】
一般的に使用されている使い捨て紙おむつとは別に、下着等の内部に挿入して使用する挿入式使い捨て吸収物品が知られている。

この種の挿入式使い捨て吸収物品(以下、単に吸収物品または吸収パッドという。)においても、両側部に長手方向に沿って表面側に起立する立体ギャザーを有するものが主流となっているが、この立体ギャザーの形成方法には、従来より立体ギャザーの起立方向の観点より2通りの方法が存在する。

先ず、第1の方法は、図5に示されるように、吸収物品の両側部において不透液性バックシート1と接着剤により固着され吸収体3の存在しないサイドフラップSFを形成しているギャザーシート4の内側シート部分(以下、立体ギャザー形成シート4Aという。)を吸収体3の側縁上部を起立点として内方側まで延在して形成し、かつ立体ギャザー形成シート4Aの先端に弾性伸縮材9を配置するとともに、この立体ギャザー形成シート4Aの吸収物品の長手方向両端部においてその内面側を透液性シート表面2に固着することにより、前記立体ギャザー形成シート4Aを断面視でハ字状に起立させるようにする方法であり、第2の方法は、図6に示されるように、立体ギャザー形成シート4Aを外側に折り返し、吸収物品の長手方向両端部においてその外面側をギャザーシート4表面に固着することにより、前記立体ギャザー形成シート4Aを断面視で逆ハ字状に起立させるようにする方法である。なお、現在市販されている多くの吸収物品は、前記第1の方法を採用している。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
前記第1の方法により形成した立体ギャザーは、立体ギャザーにより形成された内側に向けた横V字状ポケットPKにより側方に漏れ出そうとする排泄物を確実に堰き止めることができるなどの利点を有するが、一方で立体ギャザーが吸収体表面を覆い易くなり、有効活用幅YBが小さくなるため吸収体3の有効吸収体表面積が減少し、吸収能が低下してしまうなどの問題が生じていた。この問題を解決するために、たとえば立体ギャザーの起立高さを小さくすると、今度は立体ギャザー先端に配置した弾性伸縮部材9が肌へ確実にフィットしなくなり、隙間から排泄物や尿が漏れ出してしまうなどの問題が発生することになる。

また前記第1または第2の方法によらず、この種の吸収物品の場合には、着用しているうちに、腰回りが肌になじむことにより、あるいは吸収体が尿を吸収して重くなるなどの理由により徐々に吸収物品がずり落ちる現象がみられ、前記立体ギャザーの起立高さが十分でない場合には肌との間に隙間が形成されるようになり、排泄物が横漏れし易くなるなどの問題があった。

他方で、前記挿入式使い捨て吸収物品は、一般的なテープ式使い捨て紙おむつやパンツ式使い捨て紙おむつなどに比べて、前端部にサイドフラップが無く、相対的に製品幅が狭くなっている。股間部製品幅が狭いと、特にせき止め効果が低下し、許容量を越えた体液が立体ギャザーを乗り越え易くなるとともに、立体ギャザーを越えた体液がサイドフラップでせき止まり難く、横漏れが発生し易いなどの問題がある。

図1において挿入式使い捨て吸収物品は、使用面側を覆う透液性トップシート2と、吸収物品の外面側を覆う不透液性バックシート1と、前記透液性トップシート2と不透液性バックシート1との間に介在された綿状パルプ等からなる、略砂時計形状を成す吸収体3と、吸収物品の両側部にそれぞれ表面側に起立する立体ギャザーBKを形成するギャザーシート4とから主に構成されている。
