【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、乳酸菌で醗酵させたウコンを有効成分として含有する、便臭の改善・消臭効果を有する便臭改善用経口消臭剤に関する。

【従来の技術】
ウコンはアジア熱帯原産のショウガ科の多年生植物であり、その根茎は生薬として利胆薬、芳香性健胃薬などとして古くから用いられている。また、近年の研究により、皮膚、胃、大腸の発ガン抑制、抗アレルギー作用など様々な薬効が明らかにされている。

ウコンに含まれる主な薬効成分としてはクルクミンがよく知られているが、その他にカルシウム、リン、マグネシウム、カリウム等のミネラル分を多く含んでいる。

一方、プロアントシアニジンは、ブドウ種子、リンゴ果実、クランベリー、カカオ等に含まれているポリフェノールの一種であり、動脈硬化予防作用、大腸ガン予防作用など様々な生理活性機能を有することが知られている。また、腸内環境を正常化し、糞便臭や体臭を軽減する効果もあることが報告されている。

ところで、老齢化社会を迎え、寝たきり老人や自分で排泄行為のできない入院患者の介護において、排泄物の処理が問題となっている。特に、糞便の悪臭は、室内に充満するなど、介護者ばかりでなく本人にとっても負担となっている。

このような糞便の悪臭成分は、メチルメルカプタン、アンモニア、硫化水素、インドール、スカトール、トリメチルアミンなどであり、大腸菌などのいわゆる悪玉菌と呼ばれる腸内細菌により産生される。

このような糞便の悪臭を抑制・消臭するために様々な経口消臭剤が開発されており、例えば、特開平5−238945号公報には、マッシュルーム抽出エキスを含有する腸内環境改善剤が開示されている。

特開平6−22725号公報には、キトサンを有効成分とすることを特徴とする腸内代謝改善食品が開示されている。

特開平9−248154号公報には、完熟時のフクロタケ、ヒラタケ、マイタケ、シイタケなどの食用茸の生茸の乾燥粉末を主体とし、これに乳酸菌、オリゴ糖、ビタミンC、木炭末、マンナン澱粉等を混合したことを特徴とする便臭消去用健康食品が開示されている。

特開平10−245343号公報には、マッシュルーム抽出エキスおよびヨモギ抽出エキスを有効成分として含有することを特徴とする経口用組成物が開示されている。

特開平2000−4834号公報には、カテキン類の中の少なくとも一種のカテキン及びリグナン類の中の少なくとも一種のリグナンを含有することを特徴とする食品が開示されている。

特開平2000−38346号公報には、コーヒー抽出物を主成分として含有する腸溶性製剤であることを特徴とする経口消臭剤が開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、上記従来の便臭改善用経口消臭剤は、ある程度の消臭効果は認められているものの充分満足できるものとは言えなかった。また、マッシュルームは発ガン性物質アガリチンを茸類の中でも最も多く含むことが報告されており、その抽出エキスを大量に摂取した場合の安全性に不安が残る。

一方、上記のようにウコンの様々な薬理効果が報告されているが、その独特の苦味などから生薬として一部の人々に利用されているに過ぎず、また、便臭の改善・消臭効果について報告された例はなかった。

従って、本発明の目的は、安全で、かつ効果的に便臭を改善・消臭できる便臭改善用経口消臭剤を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明者らは、ウコンの生理活性を研究する過程で、乳酸菌で醗酵させたウコンを摂取することにより、便臭が改善・消臭されることを見出し、この事実に基いて本発明を完成した。

すなわち、本発明の便臭改善用経口消臭剤の一つは、乳酸菌で醗酵させたウコンと、ブドウ種子抽出物とを有効成分として含有することを特徴とする。

この場合、1回の服用量当り、前記ウコンをクルクミン換算で7.8〜39mg含有することが好ましい。

また、1回の服用量当り、前記ウコンをクルクミン換算で7.8〜39mg、ブドウ種子抽出物をプロアントシアニジン換算で30〜150mg含有することが好ましい。

本発明によれば、経口摂取することにより、安全かつ効果的に便臭を軽減・消臭できる経口消臭剤を提供できる。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の便臭改善用経口消臭剤の有効成分である、乳酸菌で醗酵させたウコンとしては、例えばウコンの根茎(以下、単にウコンという。)を乾燥した後、粉砕機などにより50〜100メッシュに粉砕したものに乳酸菌を混合して発酵させたもの(以下、醗酵ウコンという。)が用いられる。

醗酵ウコンは、例えば以下のようにして得ることができる。50〜100メッシュに粉砕した乾燥ウコン100質量部に対して、水10〜15質量部を加えた後、乳酸菌を加えて均一に撹拌する。そして、30〜38℃で12時間反応させた後、20〜25℃で水分含量が5質量%以下になるまで乾燥して得ることができる。

上記乳酸菌としては、特に制限はなく一般に入手可能な乳酸菌を用いることができる。

また、もう一つの有効成分であるブドウ種子抽出物とは、ブドウ種子から調製された食品素材であって、プロアントシアニジンを1〜100質量%含有するものをいう。このブドウ種子抽出物は、例えば、ブドウ果実の搾汁粕やブドウ種子100質量部に対して、水、アルコールなどの有機溶媒を50〜2000質量部加えて抽出して得ることができる。具体的には、特開平3−200781号公報に記載された方法が好ましく挙げられる。

本発明の便臭改善用経口消臭剤は、上記の他に、賦形剤、香料、甘味料、増粘多糖類、着色料などを原料として用いることができる。

本発明の便臭改善用経口消臭剤は、1回の服用量当り、上記ウコンをクルクミン換算で7.8〜39mg(ウコン重量で通常300〜1500mg)含有することが好ましい。1回の服用量当りのウコンの含有量が、クルクミン換算で7.8mg未満であると、便臭の軽減・消臭効果が期待できず、クルクミン換算で39mg超であると下痢などの症状がでることがあるため好ましくない。

また、1回の服用量当り、上記ウコンをクルクミン換算で7.8〜39mg(ウコン重量で通常300〜1500mg)、ブドウ種子抽出物をプロアントシアニジン換算で30〜150mg含有することが好ましい。

以下、実施例を挙げて本発明を具体的に説明する。なお、実施例においてウコンは醗酵ウコン粉末(ウコン茶総本舗製、商品名「醗酵ウコン」)、プロアントシアニジンを主成分とする食品素材としてはブドウ種子抽出物(プロアントシアニジン約38質量%含有)(キッコーマン社製、商品名「グラビノール」)を用いた。

試験例1(便臭改善)
被験者として、男女12名(20〜30歳:4名、40〜50歳:5名、60〜80歳:3名)を3つの群(各群4名)に分け、10日間の試験期間中、試験群(i)には実施例1で得られたウコンのみを含有する錠剤、試験群(ii)には実施例2で得られたウコンとプロアントシアニジンを含有する錠剤を、1日1回3錠、食後に服用してもらった。
