また、段ボールケースの角部に三角形のコーナ材を配設したり、発泡樹脂製の緩衝材を配設することも行われているが、補強強度が不十分であったり、発泡樹脂材という別素材を使用した場合には、分離して廃棄するのに手間がかかるという問題点があり、同じ素材の段ボールで十分な補強強度を有するものが要望されていた。
