本発明は、携帯電話機及び携帯型コンピュータ等の携帯型電子機器に関する。

【従来の技術】
携帯型の電子機器として、携帯電話機及び携帯型コンピュータが普及している。携帯型コンピュータは、ノート型コンピュータと呼ばれる比較的大型の製品の他、ＰＤＡ（Personal Digital Assistance）と呼ばれる携帯性に優れた製品まで種々の形態が存在する。携帯型電子機器は、操作部に設けられたキーボードの操作により動作制御される。動作制御の内容は、携帯型電子機器に設けられた表示装置に表示される。

携帯型機器の内、例えば携帯型コンピュータは、動作制御に伴う情報入力の内容が多岐に渡っている。このため、情報入力を容易に実行できるように、キーの多いキーボードが設置される。一方、例えば携帯電話機は、キーボードの主な用途が電話番号の入力であるため、数字入力キー以外のキーが殆ど設置されない。このため、数字入力キーを用いて文字入力も実行される。

また、携帯型電子機器は、主に二次電池を電源として動作する。携帯型電子機器は、その駆動時間に応じて、容量の異なる複数の二次電池を装着することができる。長時間駆動が望まれる場合、携帯型電子機器には大容量の二次電池が装着される。短時間駆動の駆動で事が足りる場合、携帯型電子機器には標準の二次電池が装着される。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
携帯型電子機器は、屋外で使用される頻度が高く、その使用状態は、人目に触れる機会が多く、周囲の者にとっては見苦しい光景として映る場合がある。

更に、携帯型電子機器の内、特に携帯電話機については、数字キーを使用して文字情報が入力されるため、操作性が良好であるとは言い難い。

また、携帯型電子機器は、標準の二次電池の装着を想定して外観が設計される。このため、大容量の二次電池が装着された場合、携帯型電子機器の外観が大きく変わり、携帯性の悪化及び見苦しさを招いていた。

本発明は、携帯型電子機器を見た者が見苦しさを感じる事態を低減することができ、携帯型電子機器のキーボードの操作性を向上させることができ、そして携帯型電子機器の外観を大幅に変更することなく駆動時間を延長することができる携帯型電子機器を提供する。

【発明の実施の形態】
図１は、本発明に係る第１携帯電話機の斜視図である。図１（ａ）は、携帯電話機の正面側の外観を示し、図１（ｂ）は、携帯電話機の背面側の外観を示す。図１（ａ）に示されるように、携帯電話機100は、表示ユニット１と、キーボードユニット２を備える。キーボードユニット２は、その表面にキーボード３及びマイク７を備える。表示ユニット１は、その表面に第１表示装置４及びスピーカ８を、その背面にアンテナ５を備える。図１（ｂ）に示されるように、表示ユニット４の背面は、第２表示装置６を備える。

キーボードユニット２の内部には、図示しない制御コンピュータと、送受信機と、電源装置が設けられている。制御コンピュータは、プロセッサと、メモリと、インタフェースモジュールを備える。プロセッサは、音声及び電子メールの発着信制御、ウェブサイトのアクセス制御、広告情報の受信制御、第１及び２表示装置４，６の表示制御、メモリの書込み、読出し及び消去制御、更には携帯電話機の動作モード設定制御を管理する。メモリは、音声メッセージ、電子メールデータ、ウェブサイトデータ、電話帳データ、着信音データ、そして携帯電話機100の動作環境の特定に必要な各種の動作パラメータを記憶する。プロセッサとメモリは、制御コンピュータ内のバスにより接続される。インタフェースモジュールは、プロセッサを、キーボードユニット２、第１表示装置４、第２表示装置６、送受信装置、電源装置、そしてその他の電気的モジュールに結合する中継装置及び信号変換装置を備える。送受信機は、プロセッサの制御に基づいて、音声データ、電子メールデータ、ウェブサイトデータ、更には広告情報の送受信を処理する。電源装置は、携帯電話機100に設けられた各種電気部品に電力を供給する電源回路と二次電池を備える。

以上の構成の携帯電話機100は、プロセッサの制御により、ダウンロードされた広告情報がメモリに格納される。この広告情報は、例えば携帯電話機システムの無線電話回線を介して、プロセッサによる制御によりダウンロードされる。更にこの広告情報は、有線電話回線又はデータ供給装置を介して、プロセッサの制御によりダウンロードされる。データ供給装置とは、着信音データ及び壁紙データ等を供給するためにコンビニエンスストア及びゲームセンタ等に設置された端末装置、更にはインターネット上のウェブサイト等の情報供給サーバ等を意味する。プロセッサは、メモリに書き込まれた広告情報を参照して、第２表示装置６を駆動する。この駆動は、例えば携帯電話機100が、通話、電子メール送受信、そしてウェブサイトアクセスのために操作される間に実行される。即ち、携帯電話機100の使用状態をその周囲から観察する者が、第２表示装置の内容を認識することができる。

一方、本発明に係る携帯電話機100は、複数の動作モードで動作することができる。この動作モードは、通話モード、電子メールモード、ウェブアクセスモード、更には音楽再生モード及びゲームモード等を意味する。動作モードは、キーボード３上のモード切替キー（図２（ａ）"モード"）を用いて設定することができる。例えば、モード切替キーが押下される度に、モードが順次変更される。モード切替キーの操作監視及びモード切替は、プロセッサに処理される。

携帯電話機100は、電源投入時、通話モードで起動する。通話モードに対応する意味付け情報は、例えば緑色の光に反応する蛍光物質により設けられる。プロセッサは、携帯電話機100の電源投入を検出すると、キーボード３内の緑色発光素子を駆動する。この場合、図２（ａ）に示されるように、各キーは、通話モードの操作に必要な意味付け情報を表示する。

一方、本発明に係る携帯電話機101は、複数の動作モードで動作することができる。この動作モードは、通話モード、電子メールモード、ウェブアクセスモード、更には音楽再生モード及びゲームモード等を意味する。動作モードは、キーボード１３上のモード切替キー（"モード"）を用いて設定することができる。例えば、モード切替キーが押下される度に、モードが順次変更される。モード切替キーの操作監視及びモード切替は、プロセッサに処理される。

モード切替キーが操作され、例えば電子メールモードが設定された場合、プロセッサは、キーボード１３内のオレンジ色発光素子を駆動する。また、電子メールモードの操作に必要な意味付け情報は、オレンジ色の光に反応する蛍光物質により設けられる。このため、図４（ａ）に示されるように、各キーは、電子メールモードの操作に必要な意味付け情報を表示する。図に示された"Ｓｐ"キーは、スペースキーである。"Ｃｖ"キーは、変換候補選択キーである。"Ｍｋ"キーは、記号入力指示キーである。"Ｓｈ"キーは、シフトキーである。

また、電子メールモード及びウェブアクセスモードで携帯電話機101を操作する場合、漢字変換等の各種操作指示が実行される。本発明に係る携帯電話機101は、このような操作指示を実行するキー１３ａ〜１３ｄがキーボードユニット１２の側面に配置される。キー１３ａは、例えば変換候補の一覧を戻す場合に操作される。キー１３ｂは、例えば文節を変更する場合に操作される。キー１３ｃは、例えば変換候補の一覧を進める場合に操作される。キー１３ｄは、例えば変換確定指示する場合に操作される。

以上説明の携帯電話機101は、通話モード及び電子メールモードのそれぞれに要求される操作環境が構築される。このため、操作モードに応じた適切な操作環境を提供することができる。なお、キーボードユニット１２上のキー配置は、図示のような縦方向３列の配列に限らず、４列及び５列等の配列も可能である。列の数の増減に合わせて、キーボードユニット１２の縦方向の長さを調整することができる。

図５は、本発明に係る第３携帯電話機の斜視図である。図に示された携帯電話機102の構成要素の内、図１に示された携帯電話機100と同一部分には同一符号が付されている。図には、ストラップ２０が示されている。２０は、電池ボックス２２と環状ケーブル２１を備える。電池ボックス２２には、二次電池を装着することができる。この二次電池は、携帯電話機102の駆動電圧に応じた電圧を発生することができる。環状ケーブル２１は、環状を形成する２本のケーブルからなる。

切欠き部６ａには、表示装置２５に代えて、撮影装置、補助記憶装置、コンピュータ用インタフェース、ゲームプログラムカセット、カラオケ制御装置、化粧用コンパクト、鏡板、更には広告プレート等を設置することができる。撮影装置は、内部コンピュータの制御により撮影処理を行うＣＣＤカメラ等からなる。内部コンピュータは、この撮影装置により生成された画像情報をメモリに書き込む、更には電子メールに添付して送信する等の送受信処理を実行することができる。補助記憶装置は、携帯電話103に大量の情報、例えば大量の電子メール、大量のウェブ情報等を記憶させる場合に使用される。コンピュータ用インタフェースは、例えばデスクトップコンピュータに接続するためのＵＳＢインタフェースカード、ＬＡＮに接続するためのネットワークカード等を意味する。ゲームプログラムカセットは、表示ユニット１の表面側に設けられた表示装置４を参照したゲームの実行を制御するプログラム及びデータが格納されたプログラム媒体である。その制御は、内部コンピュータが実行する。カラオケ制御装置は、表示ユニット１の表面側に設けられた表示装置４を参照したカラオケの実行を制御するプログラム及びデータが格納されたプログラム媒体である。その制御は、内部コンピュータが実行する。なおカラオケ制御装置は、音源ユニットを搭載することができ、更にはネットワークを介して音及び歌詞のデータをダウンロードすることができる。ダウンロードしたデータは、カラオケ制御装置内のメモリに格納される。化粧用コンパクトとは、化粧用のパウダー又はペースト等が収納され、更に内面に鏡が装着された部品である。この化粧用コンパクトは、ピルケースであってもよい。鏡板は、表面が鏡面を形成する板状部品である。広告プレートとは、例えば商標及び商号等が刻印されたプレートを意味する。このプレートは，携帯電話機103の筐体の一部を形成する形状を持つ。このため、広告プレートは、切欠き部６ａに装着された場合、表示ユニット１の外面と一体化する形状及び質感が設定されることが望ましい。更に切欠き部６ａの形状は、図示の形状に限らず、表示ユニット１の上面に設けられた凹部でも構わない。この場合、表示装置２５及びその他の代替装置には、凹部に整合する凸部を備える。これら凹部及び凸部の整合により、表示ユニット１上に表示装置２５及びその他の代替装置が固定される。

以上説明の本発明に係る第４携帯電話機103は、表示ユニット１に設けられた切欠き部６ａに装着する部品を変更することができる。従って、切欠き部６ａを使用して携帯電話機103の機能拡張及び広告媒体化を設定することができる。

本発明は、以上の実施例に限定されない。実施例では、携帯電話を例に説明したが、携帯電話機に限らず、ＰＤＡ等の携帯型コンピュータにも本発明を適用することができる。また電池は二次電池に限らず、充電機能が要求されない場合、一次電池を使用することができる。

また、無線電話回線を介して広告情報がダウンロードされる場合、携帯型端末の使用場所及び使用時間帯応じた広告情報がダウンロードされる設定を行うことができる。この場合、広告情報を供給するセンタは、携帯型端末が存在する場所を、携帯電話システムの位置通報システムから検出する。センタは、検出した位置情報に応じて、供給する広告情報を設定することができる。センタは、例えば大学の構内を表す位置情報を検出した場合、大学生向けの広告情報、例えばファッション情報及び就職情報等を供給する。

本発明による携帯型電子機器は、その使用中、人目に触れる個所に表示装置を設け、広告情報を表示する。即ち、携帯型電子機器を広告媒体として使用することができる。

本発明による携帯型電子機器は、キーボード上のキーの意味を表す意味付け情報を、動作モードに応じて変更することができる。このため、動作モードに応じたキーの配置及びその存在を告知することができる。

本発明による携帯型電子機器は、駆動時間を増大させるための補助電源をストラップ上に用意することができる。このため、携帯型電子機器の外観を変えることなく供給電力を増大させることができる。
