Description
本発明では、膨張流体は、車両乗員保護装置に供給された後の膨張流体に対する周辺からの熱伝達による該流体の温度上昇が膨張状態の維持の助けとなるよう、加圧下の膨張流体が膨張することによる温度低下により周囲状態以下の温度で車両乗員保護装置に供給される。

Claims (6)
- 側部構造体を有する車両の乗員の保護を補助するための装置において、
車両の側部構造体と車両の乗員との間の位置へ膨張できる膨張可能な車両乗員保護装置と;
上記車両乗員保護装置を膨張させ、同車両乗員保護装置を少なくとも5秒間だけ膨張状態に維持する膨張器であって、実質上ヘリウムで形成された加圧下の貯蔵された膨張流体を含む膨張器と;
上記膨張流体を上記膨張可能な車両乗員保護装置に供給するフィルチューブと;
を有し、
上記膨張流体が、上記車両乗員保護装置に供給された後の膨張流体に対する周辺からの熱伝達による該流体の温度上昇が膨張状態の維持の助けとなるよう、上記加圧下の膨張流体が膨張することによる温度低下により周囲状態以下の温度で上記車両乗員保護装置に上記フィルチューブを介し供給されるように構成されていることを特徴とする装置。 - 上記膨張器が上記車両乗員保護装置を少なくとも7秒間だけ膨張状態に維持することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記フィルチューブが上記車両乗員保護装置内に位置する部分を備えていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 上記膨張器が、
加圧下で上記膨張流体を貯蔵するための容器であって、同容器から上記車両乗員保護装置の方へ上記膨張流体を通過させる通路を有する容器と;
上記容器に固定され、上記通路を通る上記膨張流体の流れを遮断する破裂可能な閉鎖部材と;
作動時に上記通路を通って上記膨張流体が流れるのを許容するために上記閉鎖部材を破裂させる始動器と;
を有することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の装置。 - 上記容器内の上記膨張流体の圧力に対して上記閉鎖部材を支持するための支持体を更に有し、上記始動器が作動するとき、当該閉鎖部材が上記膨張流体の圧力の下で破裂して上記通路を開き、上記容器から当該通路を通る膨張流体の流れを提供することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の装置。
- 上記膨張可能な車両乗員保護装置がポリエステル材料で作られることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
