従来の記録装置においては、手差しにて記録紙を給紙する場合、本体カセットによる給紙搬送路の途中に手差し用の搬送路を合流させるのが一般的である。また、操作性を考慮し本体カセットを装置本体の前方に設置した場合、印字した記録紙を手前に排出するためには、記録紙を装置本体内で反転しなければならない構造となっていた。

図3に示すように、記録紙を積載する本体カセット1よりの給紙搬送路に手差し給紙部の搬送路を矢印B方向に合流させた場合、印字した記録紙を装置本体の手前に排出するには、搬送ローラ4のところで記録紙を反転せねばならず、封筒等は反転時にシワが発生しやすく、シワを防止するために搬送ローラ4の径を大きくすれば装置本体が大型化する。

また、搬送の途中での反転をなくしストレートに記録紙を搬送するためには、図4に示すように手差し給紙部を装置本体の後方に設けた開口部15とし、矢印C方向から記録紙を給紙せねばならず、給紙の操作性が悪いという問題が発生する。

本発明は、手差しによる給紙搬送のための部品点数を増やすことなく、記録紙にシワを発生させず、操作性のよい手差し給紙ができる記録装置を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために、請求項1記載の発明は、積載した記録紙を給紙する本体給紙部と、手差しにより記録紙を給紙する手差し給紙部と、前記記録紙を搬送する搬送手段と、前記手差し給紙部からの記録紙の給紙を指示する操作部と、を有する記録装置において、前記本体給紙部より前記搬送手段で搬送された記録紙を排出する排出口を前記手差し給紙部とし、前記手差し給紙部と前記操作部と前記本体給紙部とをともに装置本体前側から操作可能に設け、前記手差し給紙部にセットした記録紙を吸着力により吸着する吸着手段を備え、前記手差し給紙部より給紙を行う手差し給紙モード設定時には、前記手差し給紙部にセットした記録紙を前記吸着手段により吸着した後に前記操作部へのキー入力により前記搬送手段を逆転させて前記吸着手段で吸着された状態の記録紙をストレートに搬送し、記録紙の後端が前記搬送手段を通過し終える前に前記搬送手段の搬送方向を正方向に変えて印字を行う制御手段を備えたことを特徴とする記録装置である。

印字部は印字ヘッド11を搭載したキャリッジ12とガイドロッド13、14よりなる。静電吸着ベルト5上に記録紙を吸着させた状態でキャリッジ12を移動させて印字する。記録紙へのインクの付着から、コックリング現象を引き起こし記録紙の波打ちが発生するが、記録紙の搬送は静電吸着力を利用しているので、従来機のように搬送ローラ下流に拍車ローラを設置せずにコックリングを押さえることができる。拍車ローラを用いないことで部品点数を少なくでき、かつ印字表面に傷がつくのを防止できる。

本発明においては、図1に示す排出口9を手差し給紙部とし、矢印A方向より記録紙を給紙する。静電吸着力により静電吸着ベルト5に吸着された記録紙は、静電吸着ベルト5の逆回転により逆搬送され、開口部15から記録紙の先端を外部に出す。但し、最大記録紙サイズの長さに対応できれば、開口部15から記録紙の先端を外部に出さずに装置内部に納めてもよい。そして、記録紙の後端が加圧コロ8を通過する前に、静電吸着ベルト5を再度正回転方向に回転させて記録紙に印字を行い排出口9より排出する。
