車両用、特に自動車用のヒューズとしては、近年小型化の傾向が強く、従来のブレード形ヒューズ代って、最近、図8に示すような小型のミニヒューズが開発されており、また、このミニヒューズを多極式にした図7に示すようなマルチヒューズも開発されており、これら両ヒューズが1台の自動車に併用されることがある。

しかし、車両用のヒューズ着脱作業を行なう場合、マルチヒューズL、ミニヒューズMのいずれをも取り扱う必要があるため、常にマルチヒューズL用とミニヒューズM用の2種のヒューズ着脱クリップが必要になり、その使用に際してはどのタイプのヒューズ用かを確認してそれぞれのヒューズに応じて使い分けしなければならなかった。
