Description
次に、添付図面を参照して本発明の実施形態について詳細に説明する。図1は第1実施形態の液晶装置100の一方の基板110の平面構造を示す概略平面図、図2は図1のA−A線に沿った断面構造を示す概略縦断面図、図3は図1のB−B線に沿った断面構造を示す概略縦断面図、図4は液晶装置100の拡大縦断面図である。なお、本願に添付した各図は全て寸法や寸法比等を作図上の都合により適宜に設定して描いてあり、実際の寸法や寸法比を示すものではない。
次に、図5を参照して、本発明に係る液晶装置の第2実施形態について説明する。なお、本実施形態において、第1実施形態と同様の部分には同一符号を付し、それらの説明は省略する。また、図示しない構成は第1実施形態の説明と同様に構成されるものとする。
次に、図6を参照して、本発明に係る液晶装置の第3実施形態について説明する。この実施形態では、第2実施形態において形成した下層絶縁層115A及び上層絶縁層115Bを単一の絶縁膜115′によって構成したものである。他の構成は第2実施形態と同様であるので、同一部分には同一符号を付し、それらの説明は省略する。
次に、図7及び図8を参照して、本発明に係る第4実施形態について説明する。この実施形態では、第1実施形態と同一部分には同一符号を付し、それらの説明は省略する。また、図示しない部分については特に言及するものを除き、基本的に同様に構成されているものとする。
次に、図9を参照して、本発明に係る第5実施形態について説明する。この実施形態では、第1実施形態と同一部分には同一符号を付し、それらの説明は省略する。また、図示しない部分は特に言及するものを除き、第1実施形態の説明と同様に構成されているものとする。
次に、図10及び図11を参照して本発明に係る第6実施形態について説明する。この実施形態でも、先の第4実施形態と同一部分には同一符号を付し、それらの説明は省略する。
最後に、上記の液晶装置100を搭載した電子機器について説明する。図12は上記液晶装置100を搭載した電子機器を示す概略斜視図である。
Claims (5)
- 一対の基板及び当該一対の基板間に挟持されてなる液晶を有し、複数のサブ画素を備えるとともに、当該サブ画素には透過表示領域及び反射表示領域が設けられてなる液晶装置において、
一方の前記基板は前記サブ画素に対応して設けられてなるスイッチング素子及び前記スイッチング素子に接続されてなる配線、並びに、当該スイッチング素子及び配線上に配置される絶縁膜を有し、
前記絶縁膜は、前記透過表示領域、及び、隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に凹部を有し、
前記絶縁膜のうち前記凹部以外の部分の少なくとも一部が前記反射表示領域と平面的に重なり配置され、
前記液晶は、前記凹部を反映して、前記透過表示領域における層厚より前記反射表示領域における層厚の方が薄く構成され、
前記隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に形成された前記凹部は、前記透過表示領域に形成された前記凹部より浅いことを特徴とする液晶装置。 - 前記サブ画素は行方向及び列方向に配列され、
前記透過表示領域に設けられた前記凹部は前記行方向に連続し、
前記隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に設けられた前記凹部は、前記行方向に隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶装置。 - 前記サブ画素は行方向及び列方向に配列され、
前記透過表示領域に設けられた前記凹部は前記行方向に連続し、
前記隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に設けられた前記凹部は、前記列方向に延長形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶装置。 - 前記サブ画素は行方向及び列方向に配列され、
前記隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に設けられた前記凹部は、前記行方向に伸びる部分及び前記列方向に伸びる部分を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶装置。 - 一対の基板及び当該一対の基板間に挟持されてなる液晶を有し、複数のサブ画素を備えるとともに、当該サブ画素には透過表示領域及び反射表示領域が設けられてなる液晶装置の製造方法において、
一方の前記基板に、前記サブ画素に対応して設けられてなるスイッチング素子及び前記スイッチング素子に接続されてなる配線を形成する工程と、
前記スイッチング素子及び配線上に、前記透過表示領域、及び、隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に凹部を有し、前記絶縁膜のうち前記凹部以外の部分の少なくとも一部が前記反射表示領域と平面的に重なり配置され、前記隣接する前記サブ画素の境界に沿う領域に形成された前記凹部は、前記透過表示領域に形成された前記凹部より浅い絶縁膜を形成する工程と、
前記一方の基板に配向材が前記凹部内を流動する態様で当該配向材を塗布し、配向膜を形成する工程と、
前記凹部を反映して、前記透過表示領域における層厚より前記反射表示領域における層厚の方が薄く構成される前記液晶を配置する工程と、を具備することを特徴とする液晶装置の製造方法。
