本発明は、自動車のドアミラーの化粧カバー部分に嵌着して使用するドアミラーカバーに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
ドアミラーを有する自動車においては、ドアミラーの付根部近辺で風切り音が発生することが知られている。殊に、フロントガラスと側窓との間に位置するAピラー(側窓の前縁に沿って位置する前下がりに傾斜したピラー)に沿った前下がりのバイザー部分を有するサイドバイザーを装着した場合、その傾向が顕著である。これは、図6に示すように、自動車の走行時に、ドアミラー上を流れる気流K1が、ドアミラーの化粧カバー部分B(自動車メーカーにより予め車の一部として組み付けられている部分)の付根部によってドア側に押し曲げられ、ドア間の狭小な部位を勢い良く流れると共に、バイザー部分の先端部に当たる風量が増すためである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記の現状に鑑み、本発明は、ドアミラー上を流れる気流のうち、ドア側に押し曲げられる気流を減少させて、風切り音の発生を低減できるようにしたドアミラーカバーを提供するものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記の課題を解決するために、本発明が講じた技術手段は、次のとおりである。即ち、本発明によるドアミラーカバーは、ドアミラーの化粧カバー部分に外嵌するように凹入した断面形状を有する内面板部と、それよりも前方へ突出し且つ上面が後ろ上がりに傾斜した断面形状を有する外面板部とを備えた中空構造のドアミラーカバーであって、前記外面板部におけるドアミラーの付根側の端部に立上がり面を形成し、当該立上がり面によって、走行時にドアミラー上を流れる気流がドア側に向かうのを抑制するように構成してあることを特徴としている。

上記の構成によれば、自動車の走行時に、ドアミラー上を流れる気流がドア側に向かうのをドアミラーカバー外面板部の立上がり面によって抑制するため、ドア側に向かう気流が減少し、ドアミラー付根部での風切り音の発生が低減されることになり、Aピラーに沿った前下がりのバイザー部分を有するサイドバイザーを装着した場合に、特に効果的である。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明すると、図1〜図5は、本発明に係るドアミラーカバーAの一例を示す。このドアミラーカバーAは、合成樹脂の成形品であって、ドアミラーの化粧カバー部分Bに外嵌するように凹入した断面形状を有する内面板部1と、それよりも前方へ突出し且つ上面が後ろ上がりに傾斜した断面形状を有する外面板部2とを備えた中空構造とされており、内面板部1をドアミラーの化粧カバー部分Bに略全面が密着する状態に外嵌させ、両面テープ等で接着して固定するようになっている。

前記外面板部2におけるドアミラーの付根側の端部には、立上がり面Sが形成されており、当該立上がり面Sによって、走行時にドアミラー上を流れる気流がドア側に向かうのを抑制するように構成されている。

尚、立上がり面Sは、自動車の進行方向に沿った平面状に形成してもよいが、図示の例では、後端側に行くにつれて外側に位置するような曲面状に形成されている。

上記の構成によれば、後ろ上がりに傾斜した外面板部2によって、ドアミラー背面側への空気の巻き込みを抑制して、ドアミラーの化粧カバー部分による空力特性を改善できるのみならず、自動車の走行時に、ドアミラー上を流れる気流がドア側に向かうのをドアミラーカバー外面板部2の立上がり面Sによって抑制することができるため、図5に示すように、ドアミラー上を流れる気流K1のうち、ドア側に向かう気流K2が極端に減少し、ドアミラー付根部での風切り音の発生を低減することが可能である。

また、ドアミラーカバーAの内面板部1をドアミラーの化粧カバー部分Bに外嵌するように凹入した断面形状に形成してあるため、化粧カバー部分Bに対する接着面積が大きくて、強固な取付けが可能であり、しかも、ドアミラーカバーAを中空構造に成形してあるので、全体を略均一な肉厚に成形して、成形直後の冷却時における合成樹脂のヒケによる変形を防止でき、且つ、全体の重量を軽減できる利点がある。

本発明は、上述した構成よりなるから、ドアミラー上を流れる気流のうち、ドア側に押し曲げられる気流を減少させて、風切り音の発生を低減できる効果がある。
