Claims (5)
- 複数の気筒が左右のバンクに分けて配列された2つの気筒群を有し、該各気筒群に対して吸気通路が設けられる一方、排気通路がそれぞれ独立して設けられ、該各排気通路に排気ガスの流量を調整する排気制御弁が設けられると共に、前記各排気通路の少なくともいずれか一方に浄化触媒が設けられ、前記各排気通路における前記各制御弁及び前記浄化触媒より上流側が連通通路により連通され、該連通通路に排気ガスの流量を調整する連通制御弁が設けられ、前記左右のバンクの気筒群の一方の排気通路における前記浄化触媒より上流側に過給機が設けられ、内燃機関の運転状態に応じて前記連通制御弁を開閉制御すると共に内燃機関の高負荷時に前記過給機のタービンより上流側の排気圧力が前記過給機のコンプレッサより下流側の過給圧力より低いときに前記連通制御弁を閉止する制御手段が設けられたことを特徴とする内燃機関。
- 請求項1に記載の内燃機関において、前記左右のバンクの気筒群の一方をリーン空燃比で運転し、他方をリッチ空燃比で運転するバンク制御中に、前記制御手段は前記連通制御弁を閉止することを特徴とする内燃機関。
- 請求項2に記載の内燃機関において、内燃機関の運転状態が前記バンク制御可能領域にないとき、前記制御手段は前記連通制御弁を開放することを特徴とする内燃機関。
- 請求項3に記載の内燃機関において、内燃機関の運転状態が前記バンク制御可能領域から外れたとき、前記左右のバンクの気筒群の空燃比をストイキ空燃比に変更し、予め設定された所定時間の経過後、前記制御手段は前記連通制御弁を開放することを特徴とする内燃機関。
- 請求項2から4のいずれか一つに記載の内燃機関において、前記各排気通路の下流端部が合流して排気集合通路が設けられ、該排気集合通路にNOx吸蔵還元型浄化触媒が設けられ、該NOx吸蔵還元型浄化触媒に吸蔵された硫黄成分が予め設定された硫黄吸蔵量よりも多くなったときに前記バンク制御を実行することを特徴とする内燃機関。
