Description

The present invention relates to a cable connector for connecting, for example, a very thin coaxial cable.

Conventionally, for example, a cable for connecting a circuit on a printed circuit board and an electronic component in an electric device such as a mobile phone uses a very thin coaxial cable for noise suppression. A plurality of coaxial cables are connected to the cable connector, the housing body made of synthetic resin is covered with a metal shell, and the outer conductor of the coaxial cable is soldered and shielded on the shell.

The cable connector is fitted into a board-side connector fixed on the printed circuit board, and the contact of the cable connector and the contact of the board-side connector are brought into contact with each other, so that the coaxial cable and the circuit on the printed circuit board are electrically connected. It is illustrated. And the thing of the structure where the shell by the side of the said cable connector contacts the shell of a board | substrate side connector, and was dropped to the earth | ground ground for the circuit of a printed circuit board is known (refer patent document 1).

In the fitting structure of the cable connector and the connector on the printed circuit board, the thickness is made as thin as possible for high-density mounting in the direction orthogonal to the printed circuit board surface, and the male and female contacts are The sliding contact is made along the orthogonal direction. In addition, since the effective fitting length between the connectors in the orthogonal direction is shortened by this thin thickness, a locking mechanism at the time of fitting is necessary to prevent the fitting from being disconnected. In the shells of the connector and the board-side connector, a protrusion and a recess are provided and fitted together to form a lock mechanism.
JP 2002-15818 A

In the conventional cable connector, as shown in FIG. 9, for example, a protrusion 22 a is provided on the shell 22 that covers the insulating housing 23 of the board-side connector 21, and a position corresponding to the protrusion 22 a is provided on the upper shell 25 on the cable connector 24 side. A concave portion 25a is formed in a size, and the cable connector 24 is locked by fitting the projection 22a and the concave portion 25a provided at the left and right ends of the connector. The locking connector on the side of the cable connector 24 is provided on the side wall surface of the upper shell 25 so that the lower shell 26 is insert-molded into the housing of the cable connector 24 so that it can be easily installed in the mold. This is because the shell and the lower shell are covered so as to be covered with the upper shell 25 and the shells are brought into contact with each other.

However, in such a shell structure, as shown in FIG. 9, when the cable connector 24 is fitted to the board-side connector 21 mounted on the printed board 20, the upper shell 25 is compressed in the left-right direction. The central part of the shell may bulge up and press on other electronic components. In the present situation where it is necessary to further reduce the thickness of the connector for downsizing and high-density mounting of electronic devices, such swelling of the shell becomes an obstacle to the reduction in thickness. The present invention has been proposed to solve such problems.

The gist for solving the above problems of the cable connector according to the present invention to achieve the object is as follows:
In the cable connector in which the coaxial cable is connected to the contact and the outer conductor for shielding the coaxial cable is electrically connected to the metal upper shell and the lower shell surrounding the connector housing from above and below, the left and right direction of the lower shell Engagement lock portions extending horizontally from the upright standing portions are provided at both ends of the connector, and the engagement lock portions engage with the projections for fitting the mating board side connector shell. Then, it is pressed inward and fixed in a detachable position in the left-right direction, and notches are provided in the side walls at both ends in the left-right direction of the upper shell, and the notches are used for fitting the shell of the board-side connector. Are engaged in the vertical direction of the direction perpendicular to the axial center direction of the coaxial cable, and the cable connector is pulled out upward in the fitted state with the board-side connector. It is that they prevent.

The upper shell is formed so that it does not engage with the mating protrusions of the shell of the board-side connector in the left-right direction so that the flat shell main body portion does not bulge out of the connector when pressed inward. The upper shell prevents the upper shell from being pulled out, and the lower shell secures the position in the left-right direction. This includes sharing between the shell and the lower shell .

According to the cable connector of the present invention, since the upper shell is not subjected to deformation action such as compression in the left-right direction when the cable connector is fitted to the board-side connector, the flat shell body portion of the upper shell Does not bulge outward. Therefore, there is no inconvenience such as pressing other electronic components mounted and arranged at high density, and the connector is suitable for reducing the thickness of the electronic device.

Since the upper shell is provided with a notch to prevent the cable connector from being pulled upward in the fitted state with the board-side connector, the lower shell is used to fix the position in the left-right direction. It is possible to prevent the upper shell and the lower shell from sharing the roles of fixing the position in the fitted state and preventing the slipping out.

As shown in FIG. 1, a cable connector (hereinafter simply referred to as a connector) 1 according to the present invention includes a coaxial cable 2 having an extra fine wire (for example, an outer diameter of about 0.3 mm) connected to a contact 3 and the coaxial cable. Two shielding outer conductors are electrically connected to the metal upper shell 4 and lower shell 5 that surround and shield the connector housing 1a from above and below.

As shown in FIG. 2, the connector housing 1a made of synthetic resin and the contact 3 are integrally formed by a mold, and the lower shell 5 is press-fitted into the assembly. The upper shell 4 is an accessory of the connector 1. Then, the core wire 2a at the end of the coaxial cable 2 is soldered to the contact 3, and a plate-like ground bar 7 which is soldered across the outer conductors of the plurality of coaxial cables 2 is formed in the lower shell. 5 and fixed by soldering. Thereafter, the upper shell 4 is attached to the connector housing 1a. A part of the upper shell 4 and a part of the ground bar 7 are soldered, and the upper shell 4 is fixed to the connector 1.

The upper shell 4 and the lower shell 5 are shown in FIGS. 3 to 4 and FIGS. Side walls 4a and 4b are formed at both ends in the left-right direction of the upper shell 4 so as to surround the side wall of the connector housing 1a to the lower surface, and the side walls 4a and 4b are notched. And end faces 4c and 4d in the front-rear direction are positioned.

Further, as shown in FIGS. 3 (A) and 3 (B), it extends from the lower ends of the side wall portions 4a and 4b of the upper shell 4 and extends from the bottom plate portion 4f and the lower end portions of the rear side wall portions 4g. And a bottom plate portion 4h, which surrounds the left and right side wall portions of the connector housing 1a. The locking projection 4i provided at the end of the bottom plate portion 4h is for engaging with the lower shell 5 and locking it. Further, as shown in FIG. 3B, the shell body 4e is provided with a soldering portion 4j inclined toward the connector housing, and is soldered to the ground bar 7 of the coaxial cable 2.

As shown in FIG. 5, the lower shell 5 is provided with engaging pieces 5 b that are press-fitted into the press-fitting holes of the connector housing 1 a on both side walls in the left-right direction of the flat shell body 5 a. There is an engagement lock portion 5d extending horizontally from an upright portion 5c standing in front of the side wall portion. The engagement lock portion 5d engages with a part of the shell on the mating board side connector side, so that the connectors are fitted in the left-right direction in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the coaxial cable 2. The cable connector 1 is detachably fixed so as not to come out of the board-side connector.

As shown in FIG. 6B, the shell body 5a is provided with a soldering portion 5f that is inclined toward the connector housing, and is soldered to the ground bar 7 of the coaxial cable 2.

When such a cable connector 1 is assembled and fitted to the board-side connector 21 as shown in FIG. 7, the protrusions 22 a of the shell 22 come into contact with the engagement lock portions 5 d at the left and right ends of the cable connector 1. . Thereby, the position of the cable connector 1 is fixed in the left-right direction. The engagement lock portion 5d is pressed inward in the left-right direction and undergoes a deformation action, but the deformation action in the left-right direction does not act on the shell body portion 4e of the upper shell 4. Therefore, the upper shell 4 is such that the flat shell body 4e does not bulge outside the connector in the fitted state.

Further, the end surfaces 4c and 4d at the notches of the side wall portions 4a and 4b at both the left and right ends of the upper shell 4 are orthogonal to the protrusion 22a of the shell 22 of the board-side connector 21 and the axial direction of the coaxial cable 2. Engage in the up-and-down direction. Therefore, when the cable connector 1 and the board-side connector 21 are fitted, the cable connector 1 is prevented from coming out upward. Similarly, in such a state, the side wall portions 4a and 4b are not subjected to a deformation action due to a horizontal pressing or the like on the connector, so that the vertical engagement is ensured.
