前記接地端子(150)及び差動信号端子(140、141)のそれぞれは、前記相手方コネクタ(104、170)の対応する対向端子に接合する接点ブレード部(153、143)と、前記接地及び差動信号端子(150、140、141)を前記回路基板(102)の連関する回路に終端する実装部(152、142)と、前記接点ブレード部(153、143)と実装部(152、142)間を相互連結する本体部(154、144)とを含み、
前記接地端子(150)と二つの差動信号端子(140、141)は、前記ハウジング(112)内において三角形状の姿勢で延びてトリプレット形式に配置されると共に、前記接地端子の接点ブレード部の幅は、二つの差動信号端子の接点ブレード部の幅の和よりも大きくされていることを特徴とするコネクタである。

前記接地端子(150)及び差動信号端子(140、141)のそれぞれは、前記相手方コネクタ(104、170)の対応する対向端子に接合する接点ブレード部(153、143)と、前記接地及び差動信号端子(150、140、141)を前記回路基板(102)の連関する回路に終端する実装部(152、142)と、前記接点ブレード部(153、143)と実装部(152、142)間を相互連結する本体部(154、144)とを含み、
前記接地端子(150)と二つの差動信号端子(140、141)は、前記ハウジング(112)内において三角形状の姿勢で延びてトリプレット形式に配置されると共に、前記接地端子の接点ブレード部の幅は、二つの差動信号端子の接点ブレード部の幅の和よりも大きくされていることを特徴とするコネクタとしたので、伝送ラインのインピーダンスを一致させる優れた試みのために、コネクタを通るインピーダンスの不連続性を最小化した高速データ伝送接続のためのコネクタ装置を提供できた。
図11は、信号ケーブルに用いる従来の雄型及び雌型コネクタ装置において生じるインピーダンスの不連続を示している。信号ケーブルのインピーダンスは、一定の又は図11の右側に51で示す基準線レベルに近づく。基準線51からの偏差は、50で示す実線の太線によって示されている。信号ケーブルのインピーダンスは、図11の左側において、さらに「終端」軸の左側の52で示す回路基板のインピーダンスとほぼ一致している。縦軸「M」は、ソケット、又は雌型コネクタとプリント回路基板52間の終端点を示しており、縦軸「N」は二つの接合した雄型及び雌型コネクタ間に生じるインターフェースを示しており、縦軸「P」は信号ケーブルに終端された雄型コネクタの点を示している。
図1Aについて説明すれば、本発明が非常に有用である一つの「内部」環境が示されている。この環境において、本発明によるコネクタは、コンピュータ等の電子装置101の外壁108の内側に配置される。従って、これを「内部」と称す。本発明のコネクタは、図1Bに示すように「外部」の用途にも用いられ、コネクタ110は回路基板102に実装されるが、電子装置101の外壁108より一部が延出されており、ユーザーが装置外部よりアクセス可能となっている。コネクタ装置100は、相互係合する一対の第一及び第二のコネクタを有しており、これらはそれぞれ雌型(又はソケット)コネクタ110と雄型コネクタ104として説明される。これら二つのうちの一方の雌型コネクタ110は、電子装置101の回路基板102に実装され、他方の雄型コネクタ104は、通常周辺装置から導出される信号ケーブル105に終端される。
即ち本発明は、少なくとも差動対の信号線と該信号線に連関された接地を含むケーブルに終端された相手方コネクタと回路基板間を接続するコネクタ(110)であって、
電気的に絶縁性材料で形成されたハウジング(112)と、前記ハウジング(112)内に配置された三つの導電性端子(119)とを有し、
該三つの導電性端子は、一つの接地端子(150)と、該接地端子(150)と連関された二つの差動信号端子(140、141)とを含み、
前記接地端子(150)及び差動信号端子(140、141)のそれぞれは、前記相手方コネクタ(104、170)の対応する対向端子に接合する接点ブレード部(153、143)と、前記接地及び差動信号端子(150、140、141)を前記回路基板(102)の連関する回路に終端する実装部(152、142)と、前記接点ブレード部(153、143)と実装部(152、142)間を相互連結する本体部(154、144)とを含み、
前記接地端子(150)と二つの差動信号端子(140、141)は、前記ハウジング(112)内において三角形状の姿勢で延びてトリプレット形式に配置されると共に、前記接地端子の接点ブレード部の幅は、二つの差動信号端子の接点ブレード部の幅の和よりも大きくされていることを特徴とするコネクタとしたものである。

Claims (1)
- 少なくとも差動対の信号線と該信号線に連関された接地を含むケーブルに終端された相手方コネクタと回路基板間を接続するコネクタ(110)であって、
電気的に絶縁性材料で形成されたハウジング(112)と、前記ハウジング(112)内に配置された三つの導電性端子(119)とを有し、
該三つの導電性端子は、一つの接地端子(150)と、該接地端子(150)と連関された二つの差動信号端子(140、141)とを含み、
前記接地端子(150)及び差動信号端子(140、141)のそれぞれは、前記相手方コネクタ(104、170)の対応する対向端子に接合する接点ブレード部(153、143)と、前記接地及び差動信号端子(150、140、141)を前記回路基板(102)の連関する回路に終端する実装部(152、142)と、前記接点ブレード部(153、143)と実装部(152、142)間を相互連結する本体部(154、144)とを含み、
前記接地端子(150)と二つの差動信号端子(140、141)は、前記ハウジング(112)内において三角形状の姿勢で延びてトリプレット形式に配置されると共に、前記接地端子の接点ブレード部の幅は、二つの差動信号端子の接点ブレード部の幅の和よりも大きくされていることを特徴とするコネクタ。
