Description
図1は、本実施形態に係る液晶装置100の断面図である。液晶装置100は、主に、照明装置10と、液晶表示パネル20より構成される。液晶表示パネル20は、ガラスなどの基板1及び2を、シール材3を介して貼り合わせてセル構造を形成し、その内部に液晶4を封入して構成される。液晶表示パネル20の前面、及び背面側には図示しない偏光板が配置されており、液晶パネル20と偏光板との間には位相差板、及び視野角補償板が設けられる。
次に、液晶装置の装置構成による視角と輝度の変化について、図3〜図8を参照しつつ述べる。図3〜図5は、液晶装置の種々の装置構成を示し、図6〜図8は、各構成の液晶装置における視角と輝度の関係を示すグラフである。図6〜図8のグラフにおいて、実線のグラフは、画面横方向の視角と輝度の関係を示すグラフであり、破線のグラフは、画面縦方向の視角と輝度の関係を示すグラフである。ここで、画面横方向とは、図3〜図5で言うと紙面横方向を示し、画面縦方向とは、図3〜図5で言うと紙面垂直方向を示す。ここで、視角とは、画面横方向における液晶装置100を見る視認する角度を示し、液晶装置では、この画面横方向における輝度が高い角度範囲を広げる必要性が高い。従って、以下では、この画面横方向の視角と輝度の関係について述べる。
図5(b)は、本実施形態に係る液晶装置100の変形例として液晶装置100eを示している。液晶装置100eは、液晶装置100において、拡散シート12、プリズムシート13を用いずに、代わりに、プリズムシート13の入射面側の面、即ち導光板11側の面に複数のビーズが塗布されたプリズムシート13bを配置した装置構成である。図8(b)は、液晶装置100eにおける視角と輝度の関係を示している。
次に、本発明に係る液晶装置100を適用可能な電子機器の具体例について図9を参照して説明する。
Claims (6)
- 光源と、
前記光源から出射された光を端面から入射し、前記端面に隣接する出光面より出光する導光板と、
前記導光板の出光面より出光された光が透過することにより照明される液晶表示パネルと、
前記導光板と前記液晶表示パネルの間に設置され、断面形状が三角形状であり、該三角形状の頂角を稜線とするプリズムが前記表示パネル側の面に複数配列されているプリズムシートと、
前記導光板と前記プリズムシートとの間に光拡散手段と、を備え、
前記プリズムは、その稜線が前記光源から出射された光の出射方向に対し交差する方向に形成され、その頂角の角度は、60〜70[°]の範囲内に設定されているとともに、
前記液晶表示パネルは、前記液晶表示パネルの垂直方向を0°としたときに、コントラスト比が10:1以上となる範囲が、前記表示パネル横方向において±60°以上であることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 前記導光板は、反射面に断面形状が三角形の溝が形成されており、前記三角形の溝における前記光源に近い側の面の傾斜角が0.1〜5[°]の範囲内に設定されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記光拡散手段は、拡散シートであり、
前記拡散シートは、その表面上に複数のビーズが塗布されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記光拡散手段として、前記プリズムシートの前記導光板側の面に複数のビーズが塗布されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記表示パネルの少なくとも一方の側に視野角補償層を設けてなることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置を表示部に備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
