Claims (4)
- 入射する光を偏光方向に応じて分離して、反射又は透過させる偏光分離層を有する偏光ビームスプリッタと、
前記偏光ビームスプリッタから入射する光を前記偏光ビームスプリッタに向けて反射する反射面を有し、該反射面で光を反射する前後で入射する光に対して反射する光の偏光方向を制御する反射液晶素子と、
前記偏光ビームスプリッタの前記偏光分離層と前記反射液晶素子の前記反射面との間に、表面が前記反射面と略平行になるように配置されるとともに、前記反射面と平行な面内に遅相軸を有する第1複屈折素子と、
前記偏光ビームスプリッタの前記偏光分離層と前記反射液晶素子の前記反射面との間に、前記反射面と平行な面に対して傾斜した屈折率楕円体を有し、かつ、該屈折率楕円体が前記反射面と垂直な対称面を有し、該対称面内にある主屈折率の方向を前記反射面と平行な面内に正射影した方向が前記第1複屈折素子の前記遅相軸と平行になるように配置される第2複屈折素子と
を備え、
光の波長をλとするときに、前記反射液晶素子の反射面に垂直に進行する光が前記第1複屈折素子及び前記第2複屈折素子を透過するときに生じる位相差の合計が略λ/4となることを特徴とする偏光制御システム。 - 前記第2複屈折素子は、無機材料を斜方蒸着して作られた斜方蒸着膜であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の偏光制御システム。
- 前記第2複屈折素子は、重合性液晶分子の重合体からなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の偏光制御システム。
- 請求項1ないし3いずれかに記載の偏光制御システムを備えることを特徴とするプロジェクタ。
