【発明が解決しようとする課題】
図3(a)に示すように、ウェブ1に塗布された塗工液20はウェブ1の両面においてウェブ1の側縁2に傾斜部25を生じさせる。この傾斜部25は、塗工液20の他の部分より薄くなっており早く乾燥する。

以下図面を参照して、本発明の実施の形態について説明する。図1および図2は本発明による塗工装置および塗工方法の一実施の形態を示す図である。

第1塗工液21による塗布膜厚tは、(1)式を用いて求められる。

上記のような第1塗工液21と第2塗工液22を用いてウェブ1の両側縁2に液溜まりを生じさせることなく、これら第1塗工液21と第2塗工液を精度良く塗布することができた。

以上のように本発明によれば、ウェブの両側縁において第1塗工液の傾斜部を消滅させることができるので、塗工液の液溜まりの発生を未然に防ぐことができる。このためウェブの両側縁において塗工液の膜厚を均一に保つことができる。
