Description
図1あるいは図2に示した可変分散補償装置では、出力される光信号の周波数は、入力時のものからシフトされている。このような周波数シフトがなるべく少ない方が望ましい場合がある。図4に示す構成では、分散修正部を2つに分けて、それぞれの周波数シフトが相殺する構成としている。ここで、可変FBGは、それぞれの分散修正部に設けてあるが、これは、一方のみに設けることもできる。また、それぞれの光SSB変調器に印加する変調信号の周波数は、必ずしも同じである必要はない。

Claims (8)
- 光信号の入力部と出力部とを備え、波長分散特性をもった分散素子と入力する光信号に応じてシフト量を調整することのできる波長シフタとが、該入力部から出力部に至る光路上に設けられており、
所定の波長帯域の光信号については、上記分散素子から上記波長シフタの入力へ伝送され、上記波長シフタの出力から上記分散素子へ伝送されるという巡回光路を辿るものであり、
入力された光信号は、上記巡回光路を予め決められた回数巡回してから上記の出力部に至るもので、
上記分散素子は、上記光信号に随伴するアドレス信号を読取部で入力し該アドレス信号に応じて決められた制御信号を制御部から上記分散素子に出力して上記波長分散特性を調整可能なものであり、
上記波長シフタによる波長シフト量を調整して巡回回数を決めるものであることを特徴とする可変分散補償装置。 - 上記光信号は受信した光信号であり、
上記アドレス信号は、送信元のアドレスを示すものであり、
送信から受信までに受けた波長分散を補償するものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の可変分散補償装置。 - 上記光信号は送信する光信号であり、
上記アドレス信号は、送信先のアドレスを示すものであり、
送信から受信までに受ける波長分散を予め補償するものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の可変分散補償装置。 - 上記巡回回数は、上記アドレス信号をもとに決められた分散を実現するシフト量から決められることを特徴とする請求項1、2あるいは3のいずれか1つに記載の可変分散補償装置。
- 光信号に与える上記分散は、分散素子のもつ分散特性の巡回回数の累積であることを特徴とする請求項1、2あるいは3のいずれか1つに記載の可変分散補償装置。
- 光の入力部から出力部に至る光路に入力された上記光信号は、
第1のサーキュレータ、分散素子、第2のサーキュレータを通り、
第2のサーキュレータの出力が波長シフタの入力に伝送され、前記波長シフタの出力が第2のサーキュレータの入力に伝送されるループ状の光路を巡回して、
第2のサーキュレータから、上記の分散素子、第1のサーキュレータ、を通って出力部に至る光路を辿り、
上記の分散素子は、入力された光信号の波長と出力部に至る光信号の波長との間に反射帯域を有する分散素子であることを特徴とする請求項1、2、3、4あるいは5のいずれか1つに記載の可変分散補償装置。 - 光の入力部から出力部に至る光路に入力された上記光信号は、
第1のサーキュレータ、反射素子、を通り、
ループ状の光路を巡回して、
上記の反射素子、第1のサーキュレータ、を通って出力部に至る光路を辿り、
上記の反射素子は、入力された光信号の波長と出力部に至る光信号の波長との間に反射帯域を有する反射素子であり、
上記ループ状の光路は、第2のサーキュレータと波長シフタと分散素子とを結ぶ光路を含むことを特徴とする請求項1、2、3、4あるいは5のいずれか1つに記載の可変分散補償装置。 - 光の入力部から出力部に至る上記光路は、入力された光信号が巡回光路を通って出力部に至る光路であり、
上記の巡回光路は、入力された上記光信号が第1のサーキュレータ、第1の反射手段、可変分散素子、波長シフタ、第2のサーキュレータ、第2の反射手段を順に辿り、第2の反射手段、第1の反射手段を介して第1のサーキュレータに戻る巡回光路であり、
第1の反射手段は、入力された光信号を反射するが、波長シフトされた光は透過する反射手段であり、
第2の反射手段は、予め決められた回数に渡り波長シフトされた後に出力部に至る光信号を反射するが、その回数に至らない光信号は透過する反射手段であり、
上記の巡回光路を巡回する光信号は、上記可変分散素子により波長分散を与えられた後、第2のサーキュレータから出力されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の可変分散補償装置。
