ファンデーション、アイメイク、口紅等のメイクアップ化粧料を洗い落とすためのクレンジング用化粧料には、多量の油剤を配合したクリーム状、乳液状、オイル状、油性ジェル状等のタイプから、油剤を全く配合しないか又は微量配合したローション状、水性ジェル状等のタイプまで様々なものがある。例えば、油剤を配合したタイプとしては、特許文献１に示す、非イオン界面活性剤と液体油とを必須成分とした、非水系のオイル状クレンジング化粧料、特許文献２に示す、特定の非イオン界面活性剤、水、液体油を含有するオイル状クレンジング化粧料が提案されている。これらオイル状クレンジング化粧料は、油分によるメイクアップ化粧料の溶解作用を利用したもので、メイクアップ化粧料との相溶性が良好でクレンジング効果は高い。しかしながら、これらオイル状クレンジング化粧料は、手や顔が水で濡れている場合、メイク化粧料との馴染みが極めて悪く、目的のクレンジング効果が発揮できない問題点がある。そのため、常に手や顔が乾いた状態で、メイク化粧料と馴染ませることが必須となり、その使用方法が制限されていた。更には、洗い流し時の水洗性が悪く、使用後の肌に油性感が生じ、使用後のさっぱり感に欠け、その後、高級脂肪酸ナトリウム塩又はカリウム塩、Ｎ−アシルグルタミン酸を主成分とする洗顔料にて洗顔する必要があった。また、最近良く使用される化粧持ちの良いメイクアップ化粧料に対して使用した場合は、水洗後の油性感が更に強くなり、肌がべとつく等の官能上面における問題があった。また油剤を全く配合しないか微量配合したタイプは、クレンジング後の油性感は少ないがクレンジング力が弱いという問題がある。この様な問題点を解決する方法として、特許文献３に示す、ポリオキシエチレン脂肪酸エステル、多価アルコール又はグリコールエーテル、及び水溶性高分子を配合したジェル状洗浄剤が報告されている。しかし、このものも、メイク化粧料との馴染みが極めて悪く、目的のクレンジング効果が発揮できないものであった。以上より、上記問題点を克服したクレンジング化粧料、即ち手や顔が水で濡れている場合であっても、優れたクレンジング効果を発揮する耐水性が良好で、更には洗い流し時の水洗性も極めて良好である官能特性に優れた効果を持つ、外観が透明でオイル状のクレンジング化粧料の開発が望まれていた。
