Claims (30)
- それを通って電磁信号が伝送される伝送線路;
前記伝送線路に隣接する電磁結合幾何形状を有するエバネッセント結合エッジを備える金属製アンテナプレート;及び
前記エバネッセント結合エッジに形成される複数のスイッチにして、前記伝送線路とアンテナプレートとの間のエバネッセント結合を制御するために前記電磁結合幾何形状を選択的に変化させるように動作可能な複数のスイッチを備える、選択可能な方向を有する電磁ビームを送信及び/又は受信するためのエバネッセント結合アンテナ。 - 前記エバネッセント結合エッジが互い違いになった凸部及び凹部のパターンで形成され、前記複数のスイッチが前記凸部の選択された隣接する組を接続するために選択的に動作可能である、請求項1に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記スイッチがコンピュータープログラムに従って選択的に動作可能な、請求項1に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記伝送線路が誘電性導波管、スロット線路、共面線路、リブ状導波管、溝状導波管、及びイメージング導波管の少なくとも1つから成るグループから選択される、請求項1に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記スイッチがPINダイオード、バイポーラトランジスタ、電界効果型トランジスタ、ヘテロ接合バイポーラトランジスタ、メムス(MEMS)、圧電スイッチ、光伝導性スイッチ、容量性スイッチ、集中ICスイッチ、強誘電性スイッチ、電磁スイッチ、ガスプラズマスイッチ、及び半導体プラズマスイッチの少なくとも1つから成るグループから選択される、請求項1に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 互い違いになった前記凸部及び凹部のパターンが概略方形波を形成する、請求項2に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記凸部及び凹部が概略等しい幅を有する、請求項6に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記凹部が第1の幅を有し、前記凸部が第1の幅とは異なる第2の幅を有する、請求項6に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 1つの前記凹部の幅とそれに隣接する前記凸部の幅の合計が他の凹部の幅とそれに隣接する前記凸部の幅の合計に等しい、請求項6に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記凹部が第1の幅を有し、前記凸部が第2の幅を有し、前記第1の幅と前記第2の幅の少なくとも1つが前記電磁信号の波長の半分以下である、請求項6に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記アンテナプレートが誘電性材料及び半導体材料の少なくとも1つから成るグループから選択される基板に取り付けられている、請求項1に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記基板が石英、サファイア、セラミック、プラスチック、及びポリマー合成物から成るグループから選択される誘電性材料から作製されている、請求項11に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記基板がシリコン、ガリウム砒素、リン化ガリウム、ゲルマニウム、ガリウムニトライド、リン化インジウム、砒化ガリウムアルミニウム、及び絶縁体上シリコンの少なくとも1つから成るグループから選択される半導体材料である、請求項11に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記アンテナプレートを覆うカバーレイヤーをさらに備え、それによって前記アンテナプレートが前記カバーレイヤーと前記基板の間に挟まれ、前記カバーレイヤーが石英、サファイア、セラミック、プラスチック、及びポリマー合成物、シリコン、ガリウム砒素、リン化ガリウム、ゲルマニウム、ガリウムニトライド、リン化インジウム、砒化ガリウムアルミニウム、及び絶縁体上シリコンの少なくとも1つから成るグループから選択される材料から作製されている、請求項11に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記基板が第1及び第2の両側の表面を有し、前記アンテナプレートが前記第1表面に固定されており、前記アンテナプレートがさらに、前記第2表面に固定された金属製背面プレート、及び非金属製レイヤーによって前記アンテナプレートから間隔を開けて配置された金属製表面プレートを備える、請求項11に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記非金属製レイヤーが空気である、請求項15に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記非金属製レイヤーが半導体金属製及び誘電性材料の少なくとも1つから成るグループから選択される材料から作製されている、請求項15に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記金属製アンテナプレートが第1金属製アンテナプレートであり、前記エバネッセント結合アンテナがさらに前記第1金属製アンテナプレートに対して実質的に平行に配置され、選択的に変更可能な電磁結合幾何形状を有するエバネッセント結合エッジを有する少なくとも1つの第2金属製アンテナプレートを備え、前記伝送線路と前記第1及び第2金属製アンテナプレートとの間のエバネッセント結合を可能にするために前記第1及び第2金属製アンテナプレートの両方が前記伝送線路に隣接して配置されている、請求項1に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記第1及び第2金属製アンテナプレートの前記エバネッセント結合エッジの前記選択的に変更可能な電磁結合幾何形状が前記電磁ビームの2次元の方向の変化を可能にする、請求項18に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- それを通って電磁信号が伝送される伝送線路;及び、
前記伝送線路から間隔を開けて整列した状態で配置された複合レイヤー結合構造を備え、
複合レイヤー結合構造が、
金属製ベースレイヤー;
前記ベースレイヤーに配置された半導体レイヤーであって、スイッチ電極のパターンを備えるためにドープされた上面を有する半導体レイヤー;
前記スイッチ電極を露出したままにした状態で前記半導体レイヤーの上に形成された第1絶縁レイヤー;
前記第1絶縁レイヤーに備えられた伝導性コンタクトの配列であって、前記コンタクトの各々が前記露出したスイッチ電極の1つに接続するために前記第1絶縁レイヤーを貫通して拡張する第1端部を有するコンタクトの配列;
前記コンタクトの露出された第2端部を除いて前記コンタクトの配列を覆うために前記第1絶縁レイヤーの上に形成された第2絶縁レイヤー;及び、
前記第2絶縁レイヤーの上に形成された金属製アンテナレイヤーであって、前記アンテナレイヤーが互い違いになった凸部と凹部を有するエバネッセント結合エッジを画定し、前記凸部の各々が前記コンタクトの隣接する組の上に配置されている金属製アンテナレイヤーを備え、
前記凸部の対応する1つに容量的に結合する、通電された電極の各組の間の伝導性の接続を形成するために選択された電極の組が前記コンタクトを介して通電されるエバネッセント結合アンテナ。 - エアギャップによって前記複合レイヤー結合構造から間隔を開けて配置された金属製カバープレートをさらに備える、請求項20に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記複合レイヤー結合構造が、各々が前記エバネッセント結合エッジの前記凸部の1つを画定する複数の指部を備える、請求項20に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記エバネッセント結合エッジが周期的構造を画定する、請求項20に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記周期的構造が約0.7mm〜約0.8mmの周期を有する、請求項23に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 実質的に平行な平面を画定する、積み重ねられた平面アンテナ部材の配列であって、アンテナ部材の各々が電磁結合幾何形状を有するエバネッセント結合エッジを備える積み重ねられた平面アンテナ部材の配列;
伝送線路部材と前記アンテナ部材の結合エッジの間のエバネッセント結合を可能にするために前記積み重ねられたアンテナ部材の配列に隣接して配置される伝送線路部材;及び
各平面アンテナ部材の前記エバネッセント結合エッジに形成される複数のスイッチにして、前記伝送線路部材と平面アンテナ部材との間のエバネッセント結合を制御するためにエバネッセント結合エッジの電磁結合幾何形状を選択的に変化させるように動作可能な複数のスイッチを備えるエバネッセント結合アンテナ。 - 前記伝送線路部材が前記アンテナ部材によって画定される前記平面に対して実質的に垂直に配置されている、請求項25に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記伝送線路部材が前記アンテナ部材によって画定される前記平面に対して実質的に平行に配置されている、請求項25に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記伝送線路部材が前記アンテナ部材によって画定される前記平面に対して実質的に垂直に配置されている、実質的に平行な線形の伝送線路の配列を備える、請求項25に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記伝送線路部材が前記アンテナ部材によって画定される前記平面に対して実質的に平行に配置されている、実質的に平行な線形の伝送線路の配列を備える、請求項25に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
- 前記伝送線路部材が前記アンテナ部材によって画定される前記平面に対して実質的に垂直に配置されている平面状の伝送線路を備える、請求項25に記載のエバネッセント結合アンテナ。
