同様に、この実施例の除気機構は、液体出口ポートでの弁と、エアトラップ内の液体の体積が所定レベルに増加するにつれて、空気を空気出口ポーとから押出すため、連絡し合って作用する空気出口ポートでの弁とを利用できる。この実施例のエアトラップは、垂直軸線から離れて45°まで運動される時に有効に除去できる。
液体はエアトラップ110および流出気泡検出器112として役立つ第3t−継手を通り流出する。流出気泡検出器112は、過剰量の空気が系統に浸透しているかどうかを検出する。液体が流出気泡検出器112を通過するにつれて、空気の認容できないレベルが液体内に残っていれば、このシステムは、患者の人体内に液体の注入を許容しないであろう。液体が空気を含まないか、または、認容できるような空気の最少量であれば、液体は流出気泡検出器を通過して、主流出管111を経て患者内に入る。
エアトラップにより形成されるシリンダは高さが3インチと10インチの間、好ましくは、3.5インチと7インチの間であり、最も好ましくは4インチと6インチの間である。エアトラップシリンダの直径は、0.5インチと2インチの間、好ましくは、0.625インチと1.5インチの間、最も好ましくは0.75インチと1.25インチの間である。エアトラップは、たとえ、垂直軸線から45°まで傾斜されていても、液体が通過するにつれて、エアトラップは液体から空気を適切に除去できる。

Claims (18)
- 中央部において延びる長手軸線を間に画定する上面及び下面と、前記長手軸線に対して直交する方向から液体をエアトラップに入れるようエアトラップの外側壁に設けられた上方取入れポートと、前記長手軸線に対して変位して位置する下方液体出口ポートと、前記長手軸線に対して変位して位置し、該長手軸線と該出口ポートの間で、該下方液体出口ポート近傍に設けられた液体流れ中断部と、上部空気出口ポートを有するエアトラップにおいて、作動時には、該下方液体出口ポートか該上部空気出口ポートが選択的に開かれ、
前記長手軸線は、第1の長手軸線であり、該液体流れ中断部は、該第1の長手軸線と該第1の長手軸線と平行な第2の長手軸線の間に位置し、前記下面の側面に位置する該下方液体出口ポート付近を横切って延び、前記下面から延在する血液のためのエアトラップ。 - 幅より高さが大きい請求項1のエアトラップ。
