Description
物品は、チタン金属組成物マトリックス、およびチタン金属組成物マトリックス中のホウ化チタン粒子の分布を含み、この物品は約0.05から約17重量パーセントのホウ素を有する。この物品は、少なくとも0.1体積パーセントの添加元素の酸化物を含むことができる。本明細書に論じる他の適合する特徴をこの実施形態とともに使用することができる。
任意選択の安定酸化物形成添加元素は、チタンベース金属組成物中に安定な酸化物を形成することを特徴とする。チタンベース金属組成物が固溶体中に実質的に酸素を持たず、またはチタンベース金属組成物が固溶体中に少量の酸素を有するときにチタンベース金属組成物中に安定な酸化物を形成する場合、その元素は安定酸化物形成添加元素とみなされる。安定酸化物形成添加元素が有効な安定酸化物形成元素として機能するためには、固溶体中に約0.5重量パーセントの酸素が存在する必要がある。したがって、チタンベース金属組成物が固溶体中に0から約0.5重量パーセントの酸素を有することが好ましい。これよりも多くの酸素が存在してもよいが、このような量の酸素は延性に対して有害な効果を有することがある。酸素は一般に、固溶体中に、または安定酸化物形成添加元素が酸素と反応したときに形成される酸化物などの不連続酸化物相として材料に存在する。
適合する他の配置も同様に使用することができる。図8〜9の実施形態では、ホウ化チタン粒子を有する圧密されたチタンベース金属組成物のインサート78が、ガスタービンエンジンブレード82のエーロフォイル80の残部を構成する金属合金を含む非ホウ化物の中に配置されている。このブレードの断面は例えば、図4に示した微細構造に類似した微細構造を有する。このインサートは、燃焼ガスに暴露することなく、かつエアフォイル80の形状を変更することなく、エーロフォイル80の強度および引張応力を増大させる。あるいはこのインサートは、図6および7に示すように、異なるバルク組成物を有する少なくとも2種類の材料の混合物を含むことができる。インサートは、使用可能な任意の方法、例えば鋳造によって非ホウ化物部分を適当な位置に製造することによって、鋳造および加工によって、または拡散接合などの非溶融法によって組み込むことができる。

Claims (10)
- 所定の割合の構成元素からなる物品を製造する方法であって、
少なくとも1種の非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップであって、全ての前記非金属前駆化合物が集合的に前記構成元素をそれらのそれぞれの割合で含んでいて、前記所定の割合の構成元素が、チタン基金属組成物と、その室温固溶解度限界よりも高い濃度で前記チタン基金属組成物中に存在するホウ素とを構成する、ステップと、
前記前駆化合物を化学的に還元して、ホウ化チタン粒子をその中に有するチタン基金属組成物を含む材料を、前記チタン基金属組成物を溶融させずに生み出すステップと、
前記ホウ化チタン粒子をその中に有する前記チタン基金属組成物を圧密化して、前記チタン基金属組成物を溶融させずに、かつ圧密化されたチタン基金属組成物を溶融させずに、圧密化された物品を生み出すステップと
を含む方法。 - 前記提供ステップが、前記圧密化された材料中に90体積%のホウ化チタンを形成するのに必要な量を超えない量の前記ホウ素構成元素を提供するステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記提供ステップが、前記圧密化された材料中に前記圧密化された材料の17重量%を超えない量のホウ素が存在するように前記非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記提供ステップが、前記圧密化された材料中に前記圧密化された材料の0.05〜17重量%の量のホウ素が存在するように前記非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記提供ステップが、前記圧密化された材料中に前記圧密化された材料の0.05〜1.5重量%の量のホウ素が存在するように前記非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記提供ステップが、前記圧密化された材料中に前記圧密化された材料の1.5〜17重量%の量のホウ素が存在するように前記非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記提供ステップが、前記圧密化された材料中に前記圧密化された材料の5〜17重量%の量のホウ素が存在するように前記非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記提供ステップが、前記チタン基金属組成物中に安定な酸化物を形成する安定酸化物形成添加元素の非金属前駆化合物を提供するステップを含み、
少なくとも1種の添加元素が、その室温固溶解度限界よりも高い濃度で前記チタン基金属組成物中に存在し、
化学的に還元する前記ステップの後に、前記金属組成物を室温よりも高い温度で酸化する追加のステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。 - 前記安定酸化物形成添加元素が、マグネシウム、カルシウム、スカンジウム、イットリウム、ランタン、セリウム、プラセオジム、ネオジム、プロメチウム、サマリウム、ユウロピウム、ガドリニウム、テルビウム、ジスプロシウム、ホルミウム、エルビウム、ツリウム、イッテルビウム及びルテチウム並びにこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項8記載の方法。
- 前記圧密化された物品を、他のボディのインサート(78)として製造する追加のステップを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
