Description
本発明は、特許請求の範囲に記載の発明を含め以下の発明を包含する。
(1)押出機ダイのクリーニング方法であって、出口面付近において、前記ダイの前記出口面と、1つもしくはそれ以上の押出オリフィスとを横切ってワイヤを移動させることを含むことを特徴とする方法。
(2)出口面と1つもしくはそれ以上の押出オリフィスとを有するダイを有する押出機を使用して物質を押出する方法であって、前記出口面付近において、前記ダイの前記出口面と、1つもしくはそれ以上の前記押出オリフィスとを横切ってワイヤを移動させることを改良点とすることを特徴とする方法。
(3)前記ワイヤが金属製ワイヤであることを特徴とする(1)または(2)に記載の方法。
(4)前記移動が、あらかじめ決められた間隔で実行されることを特徴とする(1)、(2)または(3)に記載の方法。
(5)前記移動が自動化されていることを特徴とする(4)に記載の方法。
(6)前記ワイヤが、あらかじめ決められた間隔で交換されることを特徴とする(1)〜(5)のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
(7)前記交換が自動化されていることを特徴とする(6)に記載の方法。
(8)前記ワイヤが、厚さ約0.15mm未満、または押出物の断面の最大寸法の10%未満、のいずれかより小さいほうであることを特徴とする(1)〜(7)のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
(9)前記物質が、熱可塑性ポリマーまたは弾性ポリマーを含むことを特徴とする(2)に記載の方法。
(10)前記物質が、充填剤、補強剤、酸化防止剤、顔料、染料、難燃剤のうち1つもしくはそれ以上をさらに含むことを特徴とする(9)に記載の方法。
(11)前記物質が熱可塑性ポリマーを含み、そして前記物質の粒子が生成されることを特徴とする(2)に記載の方法。
(12)出口面および1つもしくはそれ以上の押出オリフィスを有するダイを有する押出機と、前記出口面付近において前記ダイの前記出口面と1つもしくはそれ以上の前記押出オリフィスとを横切って移動するワイヤとを含むことを特徴とする装置。
(13)前記ワイヤが金属製ワイヤであることを特徴とする(12)に記載の装置。
(14)前記移動が、自動化され、あらかじめ決められた間隔で実行されることを特徴とする(12)または(13)に記載の装置。
(15)前記交換が、自動化され、あらかじめ決められた間隔で実行されることを特徴とする(12)、(13)または(14)に記載の方法。
直径0.23mm(公称)のステンレス鋼ワイヤをフレーム上に取り付けた。フレームは、厚さ32mmのワイヤから曲げられて、刃のない糸のこぎりのように成形され、糸のこぎりの刃が取り付けられる場所に小さい釘が溶接されている。ワイヤを、フレーム中に張り詰めて取り付けられるように、(糸のこぎりの刃がある場所に)これらの2つの釘の周りに巻きつけた。釘の間のワイヤのスパンは約21.5cmであり、ハンドルの深さは約12.7cmであった。
本実施例では、実施例1で使用したものと同様のダイを使用し、すなわち、直径0.48cmの円形の穴を2つ有するダイを使用した。押出機は、30mm Werner & Pfleiderer二軸スクリュー押出機であった。押出した組成物は、E.I.DuPont de Nemours & Co.,Inc.(Wilmington,DE 19898,USA)から入手可能なRynite(登録商標)530であった。これは、30重量%のチョップドガラス繊維と少量の他の物質(安定剤、結晶化促進剤等)を含有するポリ(エチレンテレフタレート)である。製造業者が推薦する条件下で使用前に組成物を乾燥させた。押出機バレルおよびダイを310℃に設定し、そして組成物を約18kg/時間の速度(両方の穴の合計で)押出した。
バレルおよびダイの温度が330℃であり、使用したポリマー組成物が、E.I.DuPont de Nemours & Co.,Inc.(Wilmington,DE 19898,USA)から入手可能な、30重量%のチョップドガラス繊維を含有する液晶ポリエステルポリマーであるZenite(登録商標)HX6130であることを除いて、0.13mm直径の実施例2と同じ条件が使用された。再び、ポリマーの流れを通して、ワイヤを垂直に(上方向および下方向)または水平に通過させた時、ポリマーの流れを中断することなくダイドリップが円滑に除去された。

前記堅固なワイヤは、前記ダイから流れ出る前記ポリマー押出物を破損することなく、また、前記ポリマー押出物の流れを中断することなく、前記出口面から押出物を取り除くことを特徴とする方法。 - 装置であって、該装置は押出機を含み、前記押出機は、ポリマー押出物が流れ出るダイであって、前記ダイが、出口面と、各々のオリフィスが断面を有する1つまたはそれ以上の押出オリフィスとを有している前記ダイと、前記1つもしくはそれ以上の押出オリフィスのいずれかの断面の最大寸法の20%以下である直径を有している、前記ダイをクリーニングするための堅固なワイヤとを有し、
前記堅固なワイヤは、前記出口面および前記1つもしくはそれ以上の押出オリフィスに平行な平面の付近にあって、前記平面に方向づけられており、前記ダイの前記出口面を横切り、ポリマー押出物を通して移動し、かつ、前記ダイから流れ出る前記ポリマー押出物を破損することなく、また、前記ポリマー押出物の流れを中断することなく、前記出口面から押出物を取り除くことを特徴とする装置。
