一方、有底のU形側溝やボックス側溝等では、もっぱら固定勾配を目的としつつも通常の固定勾配を延長しそのまま一部を自由勾配施工とすることがあり、内底に従来の無底側溝に準じて一般に最小厚さ5cm以上の調整コンクリート打ちとしている。
U形側溝やボックス側溝の場合、有底のため先施工のベースコンクリートは不要となるものの、調整コンクリートは水流による浮力やブロック継目に生じやすい微小な屈曲に対し側溝ブロック内底面との付着が安定せず、維持管理におけるスコップ等の衝撃や圧水噴射清掃にも適合しないことがある。
そのため、有底側溝ブロックの底面に凹部や開口部を設けたり、開口部に鉄筋を露出させる等調整コンクリートとの一体化安定を高める改良もすすめられているが、一般品との併用には不向きな特殊品となり、普及するに至っていない。
