Description
Claims (15)
- 液晶ライトバルブであって:
その上に第1ポリマー層を形成させる第1基板;
その上に第2ポリマー層を形成させる第2基板、但し、第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層は互いに向き合って配置される;及び、
液晶材料層、但し、該液晶材料層は、第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層の間に充填される、
を含み、
但し、第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層はそれぞれ、粗面を有し、該粗面は、第1ポリマー層と液晶材料層の間か、又は、第2ポリマー層と液晶材料層の間に配置され、
その粗面は、前記第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層に対し、加熱プロセス、次いで冷却プロセスが実施されて形成され、、
前記第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層は、加熱プロセスの実施後、前記液晶材料層に溶解し、該第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層が、冷却プロセスの実施後、分離・析出されて、第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層上に付着され、
そして、前記加熱プロセス中に変動する温度が、前記液晶材料層の相転移点に向かって上昇し、それを超える、
液晶ライトバルブ。 - 前記液晶材料が、ネマティック液晶、スメクティック液晶、又はコレステリック液晶である、請求項1に記載の液晶ライトバルブ。
- 前記第1基板及び第2基板が、それぞれ個別に、ガラス基板又は屈曲性基板である、請求項1に記載の液晶ライトバルブ。
- 前記ガラス基板が、インジウム錫酸化物(ITO)導電ガラス、インジウム亜鉛酸化物(IZO)導電ガラス、錫酸化物(SnO2)導電ガラス、又は亜鉛酸化物(ZnO)導電ガラスである、請求項3に記載の液晶ライトバルブ。
- 前記第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層が、ポリ(N-ビニルカルバゾール)から製造される、請求項1に記載の液晶ライトバルブ。
- 前記液晶ライトバルブの動作電圧が0Vと18Vの間である、請求項1に記載の液晶ライトバルブ。
- 前記液晶ライトバルブの透過度が、液晶ライトバルブの動作電圧が0V のとき0%で、液晶ライトバルブの動作電圧が18V のとき80%である、請求項1に記載の液晶ライトバルブ。
- 液晶ライトバルブを調製する方法であって、下記の工程:
(A)第1基板及び第2基板を準備すること、但し、該第1基板及び第2基板は、それぞれ、第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層を形成し、該第1ポリマー層と第2ポリマー層は互いに向き合って配置され、且つ、液晶材料層は、該第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層の間に配置される;次いで、
(B)加熱プロセスを実行すること、ここで、該第1ポリマー層と第2ポリマー層は、液晶材料層に溶解する;次いで、
(C)冷却プロセスを実行して該第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層のそれぞれに粗面を形成させること、そして、該粗面は、第1ポリマー層と液晶材料層の間か、又は、第2ポリマー層と液晶材料層の間に配置される、ここで、前記液晶材料層に溶解した、該第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層は、分離・析出されて、第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層上に付着される、
を含む方法。 - 工程(A)では、前記第1基板及び第2基板を調製して液晶セルを形成させ、且つ、該液晶セルが液晶材料層によって満たされる、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
- 工程(A)では、前記液晶材料が、ネマティック液晶、スメクティック液晶、コレステリック液晶である、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
- 工程(A)では、前記第1基板及び第2基板が、それぞれ個別に、ガラス基板又は屈曲性基板である、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
- 工程(A)では、前記第1ポリマー層及び第2ポリマー層が、[ポリ(N-ビニルカルバゾール)]から製造される、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
- 工程(A)では、前記ポリマー層を形成する方法が、スピンコーティング、ディップコーティング、スプレイ、インクジェットプリンティング、ローラープリンティング、又はスリットコーティングである、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
- 工程(B)では、加熱温度が50℃と150℃の間にある、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
- 工程(B)では、前記加熱プロセスが、温度を上げて前記液晶材料層の相転移点を超えるように実施される、請求項8に記載の液晶ライトバルブの調製法。
