Description
図1は、実施形態の表示装置の正面図である。図1に示す表示装置10は、表示領域100が設定されている。表示領域100は、画像が表示される領域である。また、実施形態の表示装置10は、部分3次元表示が可能な表示装置であって、図1に示すように表示領域100に、2次元/3次元切替可能表示領域(以下、選択表示領域という)101と、2次元/3次元切替不能表示領域(以下、固定表示領域という)102と、が夫々設定されている。
領域102内に部分的に選択表示領域101を設けた場合を例示しているので、例えば、固定表示領域102を駆動する部分と、選択表示領域101を駆動する部分とを区画し、夫々に独立した電圧供給電極403(403a、403b)を形成して駆動電圧の供給の有無を個別に選択して駆動することによって、固定表示領域102と選択表示領域101とに、例えば、2D表示と3D表示と異なる表示形態の画像を映出することが可能となる。遮蔽電極405は、この異なる選択表示領域101と、固定表示領域102との間に配置されている。
Claims (4)
- 2次元表示/3次元表示の切り替えが可能な表示領域からなる第1の表示領域と残余の第2の表示領域とを有する表示パネルと、
この表示パネルの表面側に配置される液晶レンズユニットと、
から構成される表示装置であって、
前記液晶レンズユニットは、
対向する第1の基板と第2の基板との間に配置され、電圧の印加によって屈折率分布を変化させる液晶層を含み、
前記第1の基板は、
前記第1および第2の表示領域に対応して形成され前記液晶層の配向を制御するための第1の電極と、
前記第1の電極とは異なる層に形成され、前記第2の表示領域を通して前記第1の表示領域の前記第1の電極に駆動電圧を供給する第2の電極と、
前記第2の表示領域内の前記第2の電極と前記液晶層との間に介在され、平面視で前記第2の電極と重畳する部分を有するように形成された第3の電極と、を有し、
前記第3の電極には、前記第1の表示領域および第2の表示領域を区画するように、前記液晶層の配向を制御するための配向制御電極部が形成され、
前記第2の基板は、前記第1の電極とともに前記液晶層の配向を制御するように形成された第4の電極を有することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記第1の基板は、前記第1および第2の表示領域に対応して形成されるとともに、前記第1の表示領域に対応して形成され、前記液晶層の配向を制御するための第1の電極と、前記第1の電極と異なる層に形成され、前記第2の表示領域を通して前記第1の電極に駆動電圧を供給する第2の電極と、前記第2の電極と前記液晶層との間に介在され、少なくとも前記第1と第2の表示領域の境界部分において平面視で前記第2の電極と重畳する部分を有するように形成された第3の電極と、を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第3の電極は、平面視で前記第2の電極の幅以上の幅を有することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1の電極と前記第3の電極とは、同一の層に形成されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3の何れか1項に記載の表示装置。
