Description
圧縮着火することが可能な液体燃料と、該液体燃料より着火性の低いガス燃料とを燃料として使用する圧縮着火式の多種燃料内燃機関の制御システムであって、
同一の運転状態において、液体燃料を着火源として該液体燃料とガス燃料とを燃焼させる場合は、液体燃料のみを燃焼させる場合に比べて、気筒内における混合気の当量比を増加させ、且つ、機関負荷が低い時は機関負荷が高い時に比べて、また、機関回転速度が低い時は機関回転速度が高い時に比べて、液体燃料のみを燃焼させる場合に対する当量比の増加率を小さくする当量比制御部を備える。
[概略構成]
図1は、本実施例に係る内燃機関とその燃料系及び吸排気系の概略構成を示す図である。内燃機関1は、軽油及び圧縮天然ガス(以下、CNGと称する)を燃料として使用可能な車両駆動用のエンジンである。内燃機関1は圧縮着火式のエンジンである。内燃機関1は、軽油とCNGとを混合燃焼させることで運転することができ、また、軽油のみを燃焼させることによっても運転することができる。尚、本実施例においては、軽油が本発明に係る液体燃料に相当し、CNGが本発明に係るガス燃料に相当する。
内燃機関1においては、燃料として軽油のみが用いられる場合、気筒2内では軽油のみの拡散燃焼が行われる。ここで、軽油のみの拡散燃焼に適した混合気の当量比と、軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼に適した混合気の当量比(即ち、軽油を着火源として軽油とCNGとが燃焼する際のCNGにおける火炎伝播に適した混合気の当量比)とは異なっている。具体的は、軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼を行う場合に、気筒2内における混合気の当量比を軽油のみの拡散燃焼に適した値に制御すると、酸素量が多すぎ、その結果、失火が発生する虞がある。また、軽油の拡散燃焼を行う場合に、気筒2内における混合気の当量比を軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼に適した値に制御すると、酸素量が不足し、その結果、HCの排出量が増加する虞がある。つまり、軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼に適した混合気の当量比は、軽油の拡散燃焼に適した混合気の当量比よりも大きい。
ここで、本実施例の変形例について説明する。上述したように、軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼を行う場合、機関負荷が低い時は機関負荷が高い時に比べて、また、機関回転速度が低い時は機関回転速度が高い時に比べて、気筒2内における混合気の当量比を増加させた際に、燃焼のための酸素の不足が生じ易い。そのため、低負荷低回転領域においては、気筒2内における混合気の当量比を軽油のみの拡散燃焼を行う場合の該当量比よりも増加させると、着火源となる軽油の周囲の酸素濃度が局所的に過剰に低くなる虞がある。
[概略構成]
図5は、本実施例に係る内燃機関とその燃料系及び吸排気系の概略構成を示す図である。ここでは、実施例1と異なる構成についてのみ説明する。
本実施例においても、実施例1と同様、内燃機関1の運転状態を同一とすると、軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼を行う場合は、軽油のみの拡散燃焼を行う場合に比べて、気筒2内における混合気の当量比を増加させる。また、軽油とCNGとの混合燃焼を行う場合、機関負荷が低い時は機関負荷が高い時に比べて、また、機関回転速度が低い時は機関回転速度が高い時に比べて、軽油のみの拡散燃焼を行う場合に対する当量比の増加率を小さくする。
尚、上記実施例1及び2においては、内燃機関1の燃料を軽油及びCNGとしたが、本発明に係る液体燃料及びガス燃料はこれらに限られるものではない。本発明に係る液体燃料は、圧縮着火することが可能なものであればどのような燃料でもよく、例えば、軽油とGTLとを混合したものであってもよい。また、本発明に係るガス燃料は、液体燃料を着火源として燃焼可能なものであればよく、CNG以外には、プロパンガスやブタンガスを例示することができる。
また、上記実施例1及び2では、吸気側可変動弁機構25によって吸気弁の閉弁時期を変更することで吸入空気量を調整し、それによって気筒2内における混合気の当量比を制御したが、当量比の制御方法はこれに限られるものではない。例えば、スロットル弁23の開度を変更することで、吸入空気量を調整してもよい。ただし、吸入空気量を減少させるべく、スロットル弁23の開度を減少させると、内燃機関1におけるポンピングロスが増加する虞がある。吸気弁の閉弁時期を変更することで吸入空気量を調整することで、このようなポンピングロスの増加を抑制することができる。

Claims (2)
- 圧縮着火することが可能な液体燃料と、該液体燃料より着火性の低いガス燃料とを燃料として使用する圧縮着火式の多種燃料内燃機関の制御システムであって、
同一の運転状態において、液体燃料を着火源として該液体燃料とガス燃料とを燃焼させる場合は、液体燃料のみを燃焼させる場合に比べて、気筒内における混合気の当量比を増加させ、且つ、機関負荷が低い時は機関負荷が高い時に比べて、また、機関回転速度が低い時は機関回転速度が高い時に比べて、液体燃料のみを燃焼させる場合に対する当量比の増加率を小さくする当量比制御部を備える多種燃料内燃機関の制御システム。 - ガス燃料の組成を検出する組成検出部をさらに備え、
液体燃料とガス燃料とを燃焼させる場合、前記当量比制御部が、前記組成検出部によって検出されるガス燃料の組成に応じて、液体燃料のみを燃焼させる場合よりも気筒内における混合気の当量比を増加させるときの増加率を変更する請求項1に記載の多種燃料内燃機関の制御システム。
