電圧印加部30は、アクティブマトリクス方式を適用してもよいし、パッシブマトリクス方式を適用するようにしてもよい。或いは、セグメント方式を適用するようにしてもよい。

Claims (8)
- 少なくとも一方が透光性を有する一対の基板間に封入されると共に、種類毎に互い異なる色に着色され、かつ基板に付着した状態を維持するための付着力が種類毎にそれぞれ異なり、かつ基板に付着した状態から該基板を離脱するために必要な電圧が種類毎にそれぞれ異なる複数種類の粒子を含み、画像情報に基づいて画像を表示する画像表示媒体の前記一対の基板間に電圧を印加する電圧印加手段と、
前記複数種類の粒子のうち付着力が最も大きい粒子が一方の基板に付着した状態から該基板を離脱する大きさの電圧を、基板から離脱させるべき粒子の付着力に応じた印加時間で前記画像情報に基づいて前記基板間に印加するように、前記電圧印加手段を制御する制御手段と、
を備えた画像表示媒体の駆動装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記複数種類の粒子のうち前記付着力が最も大きい粒子が基板から離脱する大きさで、かつ前記印加時間として基板から離脱させるべき粒子の少なくとも一部が基板から離脱する時間の電圧を前記画像情報に基づいて前記基板間に印加するように、前記電圧印加手段を制御する請求項1に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。
- 前記制御手段は、前記複数種類の粒子のうち前記付着力が最も大きい粒子が基板から離脱する大きさで、かつ前記印加時間として前記付着力が最も大きい粒子の少なくとも一部が基板から離脱する時間の電圧を印加した後に、前記付着力の大きい順に前記付着力に応じて順次前記印加時間及び極性を変えた電圧を前記画像情報に基づいて前記基板間に印加するように、前記電圧印加手段を制御する請求項1に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。
- 前記複数種類の粒子は、基板から離脱を開始し始めてから全粒子が基板に付着するまでの離脱時間分布をそれぞれ有し、該離脱時間分布に従って基板から離脱する請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。
- 前記複数種類の粒子の各々の前記離脱時間分布は、電圧を印加開始してから基板から離脱開始する時間が短い方の粒子のうち予め定めたA%(A>50)の粒子が離脱する時間が、電圧を印加してから離脱開始する時間が長い方の粒子のうち(100−A)%の粒子が離脱する時間よりも短い請求項4に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。
- 前記複数種類の粒子は、基板から離脱開始する時間が短い粒子の方が、粒径×電荷密度が大きい請求項4又は請求項5に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。
- 少なくとも一方が透光性を有する一対の基板間に封入されると共に、種類毎に違いに異なる色に着色され、かつ基板に付着した状態を維持するための付着力が種類毎にそれぞれ異なり、かつ基板に付着した状態から該基板を離脱するために必要な電圧が種類毎にそれぞれ異なる複数種類の粒子を含み、画像情報に基づいて画像を表示する画像表示媒体と、
請求項1〜6の何れか1項に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置と、
を備えた画像表示装置。 - コンピュータを、請求項1〜6の何れか1項に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置の前記制御手段として機能させるための駆動プログラム。
