シート部材の端部の上方に配置されて、シート部材の端部同士を接合するシート部材の接合装置であって、
シート部材の端部上を転動して、所定の噛み込み位置で互いに噛み合う歯間でシート部材の端部同士を噛み込んで接合する一対の接合部材と、
一対の接合部材をシート部材の端部に沿って移動させる移動装置と、
一対の接合部材の噛み込み位置を変更する変更装置と、
シート部材の傾斜に対応して、変更装置により一対の接合部材の噛み込み位置をシート部材の端部上に調整する位置調整手段と、を備え、
一対の接合部材は、噛み込み位置がシート部材の端部上に位置する状態で、互いの軸線が一対の接合部材間の中心面で交差するように上方に対して逆方向に傾けられ
位置調整手段が、シート部材の傾斜を検出する検出手段と、検出手段の検出結果に基づいて、変更装置を制御して一対の接合部材の噛み込み位置をシート部材の傾斜に合わせて変更させる制御装置とを有するシート部材の接合装置。
