ごみ箱本体の上部開口に対し、一端をヒンジ部、他端をロック部とした蓋板を上下に開閉自在に設けるとともに上記蓋板に開放方向の付勢力を与えたごみ箱にして、天板に押圧部を、垂下板にごみ箱本体への係止部を設けた倒立L字形のロック解除操作片を、枢支部を蓋板の端部側に、押圧部を蓋板の内方に設定して蓋板に回動自在に設けるとともに、上記ロック解除操作片に天板の上昇方向の付勢力を与えることにより、ロック解除操作片の天板が付勢力により上昇位置に存する時はごみ箱本体へ近づいた垂下板の係止部がごみ箱本体の被係止部に係止して蓋板が被蓋状態でロックされ、ロック解除操作片の天板が押圧部を押し込むことにより下降位置に存する時はごみ箱本体から離れた垂下板の係止部がごみ箱本体の被係止部から離脱して蓋板のロックが解除されるごみ箱において、
