Application of Article 30, Paragraph 2 of the Patent Act On April 4, 2022, Nekomon Co., Ltd. published on its website a video demonstrating how to put on a kimono using the elastic tightening cord and datejime invented by Yasuzai Minae.

This invention relates to a method for putting on a kimono using elastic tightening cords and cords such as datejime.

Traditionally, the process of putting on a kimono involves wrapping the left and right front pieces of the kimono around the wearer's body after putting on the kimono, wrapping strings around the waist and chest, and then wrapping a datejime around the outside to tighten the collar. This prevents the kimono from accidentally coming undone and makes the wearer look smart. More specifically, first the string is tied around the waist (hereafter, the string at the waist is referred to as the kosohimo), and the loose waist area that is created by adjusting the length of the kimono is folded inward from bottom to top to determine the final position of the kosohimo. A string is tied around the chest above the folded part of the kimono (hereafter, the string at the chest is referred to as the chest string), and then a datejime is tied on top of that to prevent the kimono from coming undone. The kosohimo that is tied around the waist tightens the folded part of the kimono, and the kosohimo is tied at this folded position to complete the basic kimono dressing, before moving on to the next steps of chest string and datejime. Therefore, the work of fastening the waist string and chest string at the folding position is the basis for putting on a kimono, which includes the subsequent work of fastening the datejime and obi. In other words, fastening the waist string around the waist of the kimono, as well as multiple chest strings and datejime as necessary, is the core part of the basics of putting on a kimono, and then finally fastening the obi on top of that to complete the perfect dressing process without the kimono coming undone.

Thus, the important steps in putting on a kimono are folding back the loose part of the kimono at the waist (also called ohashiori or ohataori), tightening the koshihimo inside the fold, and tightening the chest string and datejime above the fold.

Patent Document 1 discloses a waist belt that makes it easy to fold the hem and prevents the kimono from coming undone, and a method of putting on a kimono using the waist belt.

When dressing in such a kimono, first the loose part located at the waist of the kimono is folded back and the inside is fastened with a waist string, but in doing so, the worker must turn their arms around the front and back of the kimono while folding back the loose part and fastening the waist string inside, and also fasten the chest string and datejime above it at the chest area. However, it is difficult to dress in a way that the kimono fits well and does not come undone while turning their arms back and forth without the kimono coming undone, and even if it takes a long time to dress, the waist string, chest string, datejime, etc. are not fastened properly, and it is particularly difficult to fold back the left and right sides around the waist and the chest area properly to prevent sagging or deformation of the joining surfaces, which has the drawback of not resulting in a smart dressing that looks good overall.

As a result, the garment may come undone, and the seams at the front of the garment may become loose or distorted, resulting in an ultimately uneven garment.

In addition, the waist belt disclosed in Patent Document 1 is made up of a first belt, a second belt, and a third belt, so the attachment positions and fastening procedures for each of these multiple belts are complicated, making the dressing procedure complicated.

This invention aims to provide a method of dressing a kimono that allows for a well-balanced dressing by temporarily fastening the folded part of the loose part of the kimono formed at the waist by surrounding it with a tightening string made of an elastic material that has been prepared in advance and temporarily fastening the folded part of the loose part and the mating surface above it, thereby ensuring that the subsequent tightening work can be done with a string such as a datejime.

This invention aims to provide a method of putting on a kimono using elastic tightening cords and datejime, which comprises surrounding and tightening a waist cord inside the fold of the loose portion corresponding to the waist part of the kimono , tightening a chest cord at a position above the waist cord corresponding to the chest part, surrounding two upper and lower tightening cords made of an elastic material prepared in advance at a position between the tightening positions of the waist cord and the chest cord, pulling up the folded portion of the loose portion between the two upper and lower tightening cords surrounding a position above the waist cord of the folded portion of the loose portion and folding it back in the vertical direction, adjusting the length of the part of the folded portion of the loose portion below the waist cord, and then performing a datejime fastening work.

The kimono dressing method according to the present invention is also characterized in that the elastic tightening cord is configured to be freely connectable via engaging hooks at both ends.

The kimono dressing method according to the present invention is also characterized in that a length adjuster is provided midway through the elastic string to adjust the length of the string.

According to the invention of claim 1, the waist string is enclosed and tightened on the inside of the fold of the loose part corresponding to the waist part of the kimono, and two tightening strings made of elastic material prepared in advance are enclosed in a position above that near the chest, forming the fold of the loose part at the waist part of the kimono and shaping the fitting surface of the kimono in a balanced manner using the waist string, chest string, datejime, etc. As a result, the fitting surface of the kimono is fixed with the tightening strings made of elastic material, and since the tightening strings are made of elastic material, their elastic force allows for reliable tightening. Therefore, there is an effect that the subsequent fitting work of the datejime, etc. can be easily performed by freely rotating the arms in the front and back directions. According to the invention of claim 2, the tightening cord made of elastic material is configured so that it can be freely connected via the engaging hook bodies provided at both ends, so that the tightening cord can be easily tightened and released.

The gist of this invention is a method of dressing a kimono using a waist string, chest string, or datejime, which is characterized by surrounding and tightening the waist string on the inside of the fold of the loose part corresponding to the waist of the kimono, and surrounding and temporarily fastening two elastic tightening strings prepared in advance at a position near the top and bottom of the waist string, thereby shaping the fold of the loose part at the waist of the kimono in an even manner, and then performing the datejime tightening work.

The embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. First, the basic steps of putting on a kimono, up to tying the obi, will be described with reference to Figures 20 and 21.

<First step>
The wearer puts on the kimono, decides on the length of the hem, aligns the left and right body parts, and fastens the waist string 21.

<Second step>
The waist cord 21 is turned inward and the part below the waist cord is folded back to adjust the shape of the loose part of the kimono, forming a hem fold, and the collar is adjusted. At this time, the overlapping parts of the left and right body parts are adjusted by inserting a hand inside the kimono from the body opening.

<Third step>
The chest area above the waist strap 21 is surrounded and tightened by a strap (chest strap 22) similar to the waist strap 21. The chest strap 22 is wrapped twice for tightening.

<Fourth step>
A string 23 similar to the waist strap 21 and chest strap 22 is wrapped around and fastened at a position between the fastening positions of the waist strap 21 and chest strap 22. This string 23 is fastened in a double wrap so that an X mark appears on the back side, as shown in FIG.

<5th step>
In order to make the vertical length of the loose part (hem) of the kimono folded down below the waist string 21 an appropriate length, the loose part of the kimono around the waist is pulled up from below and the excess kimono fabric is sandwiched between the strings. At this time, on the back side, the excess kimono fabric is folded down while being sandwiched between the strings 23 so that it sticks out into the left and right areas surrounding the center of the x mark made by the strings 23, as shown on the right side of the paper in Figure 21.

<Sixth step>
A fastening strap 24 is wrapped around the wearer's chest from the outside of the chest strap 22 and the strap body 21. The fastening strap 24 is a thin, band-like strap body that is wider than the straps used for the chest strap 22 and the waist strap 21. The fastening strap 24 is fastened by wrapping it twice.

<Seventh step>
An obi 25 is tied over the datejime 24.

In the above-mentioned conventional dressing procedure, a string body 23 similar to the chest string 22 and waist string 21 is double-wrapped between the chest string 22 and waist string 21 so that an intersection of the strings is formed on the back. Therefore, when adjusting the length of the hem, the fabric of the kimono that is tucked up above the string body will protrude to the left and right of the intersection. In other words, on the back side, the excess part of the pulled up fabric is not folded up and down along a single horizontal crease like on the front side, but is folded so that the tip of the fabric faces the left and right sides around the intersection, resulting in radial wrinkles. At the fastening position of the chest string 22 and the string body 23, the datejime 24 is further fastened from the outside, and the obi 25 is fastened, so that multiple wrinkles running vertically and diagonally are formed in the excess part of the kimono fabric that protrudes to the left and right of the intersection of the string body 23 on the back. Once these wrinkles have formed, they are difficult to remove, even by cleaning, and the next time the kimono is worn, for example, unnatural vertical and diagonal wrinkles appear in the fabric of the kimono on the back, causing problems such as a lack of style for the wearer.

In the fourth step of the conventional dressing procedure, the same strings 23 as the waist strings 21 and chest strings 22 are wrapped twice on the back to form an X mark. In contrast, the present invention is characterized in that two elastic tightening strings 10 are tightened around the waist strings 21 and chest strings 22, one above the other, and then the loose part of the kimono is pulled up between the two elastic tightening strings 10 to adjust the length of the hem.

The following describes in detail the embodiments of the present invention.

First, the elastic tightening cord 10 used in the dressing method of the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 1 to 9.

The tightening cord body 10 is constructed by arranging a fastener and a length adjuster on a long elastic body 11 made of an elastic material. The long elastic body 11 is a rubber cord woven with elastic threads such as natural rubber threads and polyurethane threads, called flat rubber, with a width of about 1 to 2 cm and a length of about 70 to 90 cm.

Such an elastic tightening cord 10 is configured so that both ends can be freely connected. At one end of the long elastic body, a tubular section 12 is formed by folding back the end of the long elastic body 11 to form a tube. At the other end of the long elastic body 11, an engaging hook body 15 is provided, which is composed of a hole section 13 through which the long elastic body 11 can be inserted and a hook section 14 that engages with the tubular section 12. The engaging hook body 15 is a locking device that connects the long elastic body 11 by accepting the engagement of the hook section 14 with the tubular section 12. The engaging hook body 15 is movably arranged through the hole section 13 in the annular region 17 of the long elastic body 11 formed by the length adjustment device described later.

A length adjuster is provided midway through the tightening cord 10 to adjust the length of the cord. More specifically, a length adjuster consisting of a figure-eight ring 16 is used to adjust the length of the long stretchable body 11, and the figure-eight ring 16 is used to adjust the length of the long stretchable body 11 at which the ring region 17 of the long stretchable body 11 is doubled, thereby adjusting the overall length of the tightening cord 10. Before using the tightening cord 10, it is recommended to adjust the length of the tightening cord 10 by moving the position of the figure-eight ring 16 according to the waist size of the wearer of the kimono.

When putting on a kimono using the tightening cord body 10 of such a configuration, the wearer puts on the kimono and tightens the waist cord 21, aligns the collar, folds the kimono loose part 30 along the body to form the hem fold 31 (see FIG. 11), and then tightens the chest cord 22 to fix the collar, and then wraps the tightening cord body 10 around the wearer's waist so that the hook part of the engaging hook body 15 is located in front of the body. Then, the tubular part 12 at one end of the long elastic body 11 is engaged with the hook part 14 of the engaging hook body 15, and both ends of the tightening cord body 10 are connected (see FIG. 8 and FIG. 9). If necessary, the position of the eight ring 16 is moved to adjust the tightening state (tightness) of the tightening cord body 10. In addition, since the engaging hook body 15 and the eight ring 16 themselves have no thickness as shown in FIG. 6 and FIG. 7, the knot of the string does not get in the way as with conventional string bodies. In this specification, the loose part 30 of the kimono refers to the excess part of the kimono fabric that is created around the waist when the kimono is adjusted to fit the wearer's height, and includes the trim fold 31 that has been adjusted to the desired shape.

The procedure for carrying out the method for putting on a kimono according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to Figures 10 to 19. Note that the following procedure will be described using an example in which the wearer of the kimono puts on the kimono by himself/herself.

<First step (see FIG. 10)>
The wearer puts on the kimono, decides the length of the hem, aligns the left and right body parts, wraps the kimono around the body, and then tightens the waist string 21 to fit the length of the wearer's body.

<Second step (see FIG. 11)>
With the waist cord 21 on the inside, the loose part 30 of the kimono, which is bulging outward above the waist cord 21, is folded back below the waist cord 21 so as to fit the body, forming a so-called hem fold 31, and the collar is adjusted. At this time, the overlapping parts of the left and right body parts are adjusted by inserting a hand inside the kimono from the body opening, etc.

<Third step (see FIG. 12)>
A chest strap 22 is fastened at a chest position above the waist strap 21 to fix the collar.

<Fourth step (see Figs. 13 and 14)>
Two tightening cords 10a, 10b made of an elastic material are fastened vertically between the fastening position of the waist cord 21 and the fastening position of the chest cord 22. The two tightening cords 10a, 10b are disposed approximately parallel to each other above and below the wearer's torso.

<Fifth step (see Figs. 15, 16 and 17)>
In order to adjust the vertical length of the kimono loose part 30 (hem 31) folded back below the waist string 21 to an appropriate length, or to adjust the amount of fabric around the waist, the fabric of the kimono between the two tightening cords 10a, 10b is pulled up. This shortens the vertical length of the hem 31 around the waist below the waist string 21, and the excess fabric generated by pulling up the hem 31 is folded back between the two tightening cords 10a, 10b. More specifically, as shown in an enlarged view in Fig. 15, the lower tightening cord 10a of the two tightening cords 10a, 10b is placed on the inside, and the excess fabric around the waist of the kimono is folded back from top to bottom along a roughly horizontal fold on the front and back sides of the body to form a folded back part 32 in which the fabric is doubled. This prevents the fabric from being wrinkled in the vertical direction as in the past.

When only one tightening cord 10a is tightened and there is no tightening cord 10b, the fabric of the kimono tucked up above the tightening cord 10a will cause slackness in the collar and sides. Therefore, in the kimono putting on method of the present invention, two tightening cords 10a and 10b are used, and the fabric of the kimono tucked up above the lower tightening cord 10a is tightened by the other upper tightening cord 10b, thereby preventing it from sliding up, and making it possible to fold back the excess fabric around the waist and torso to fit the body without causing slackness in the collar and sides.

<Sixth step (see FIG. 18)>
The wearer's torso is tightened around the chest, including the fastening position by the chest strap and the fastening positions by the two tightening strap bodies 10a, 10b, with the datejime 24 and the like. When tightening with the datejime 24, the center part of the datejime 24 is placed in front of the body, the datejime 24 is crossed on the back side, both ends are tied so that the knot is in front of the body, and the ends of the string are sandwiched between the datejime 24 wrapped around the body on the left and right sides of the body. In this way, a double-wrap datejime is completed.

<Seventh step (see FIG. 19)>
An obi 25 is tied over the double-wrapped datejime 24.

As described above, according to the method of putting on a kimono of the present invention, when tightening the datejime 24, the tightening position can be determined in advance by the two tightening cords 10a, 10b made of elastic material. Therefore, when tightening the datejime 24, the position of the end fold 31 does not shift, and the arm can be freely rotated forward and backward to perform the work. In addition, since the tightening position of the datejime 24 can be determined by the tightening cords 10a, 10b, it is easy to correct the positional shift when the datejime 24 is crossed behind the back, and the datejime 24 can be tightened reliably in the desired position. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the obi 25 from becoming loose after tightening, such as the bottom line of the end fold 31 tilting downward to the left.

In addition, since the tightening string body 10 can be easily attached and detached by the engaging hook body 15, the wearer can smoothly put on the kimono, and when taking off the kimono, there is no need to untie the tightly tied strings as in the past. In addition, since the tightening string body 10 is made of an elastic material, it does not continue to tighten excessively around the chest area, etc. In addition, when tying the string body 23 as described in the conventional fourth and fifth steps, once the knot of the string becomes loose, the tightening becomes insufficient and the kimono may come undone. However, since the tightening string body 10 can maintain a constant tightening state by its elasticity, the kimono can be worn without coming undone.

In addition, since the tightening cord body 10 is equipped with a length adjustment device, the length of the tightening cord body 10 can be flexibly changed according to the wearer's physique, and the strength of the tightening provided by the tightening cord body 10 can also be easily changed.

The above-mentioned embodiment is an example of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned embodiment. Therefore, even if it is an embodiment other than the above-mentioned, various modifications are possible according to the design, etc., as long as they do not deviate from the technical idea of the present invention. Claims (3)

This method of putting on a kimono using elastic tightening cords and datejime fastening comprises: encircling and tightening a waist cord inside the folded part of the loose part corresponding to the waist part of the kimono ; tightening a chest cord at a position above the waist cord corresponding to the chest part ; encircling two elastic tightening cords prepared in advance at a position between the fastening positions of the waist cord and the chest cord; pulling up the folded part of the loose part between the two tightening cords at the top and bottom surrounded at a position above the waist cord of the folded part of the loose part and folding it back in the vertical direction; adjusting the length of the part of the folded part of the loose part below the waist cord ; and then performing a datejime fastening operation. A method of putting on a kimono using the elastic tightening cord and datejime described in claim 1, in which both ends of the tightening cord are freely connectable via an engaging hook body provided at one end. A method of putting on a kimono using the elastic tightening cord and datejime described in claim 1, in which a length adjuster is provided at the middle of the tightening cord to adjust the length of the cord.
