Below, an embodiment of the connector and the electric wire with connector according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Note that the present invention is not limited to this embodiment.

[Embodiment]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS One embodiment of a connector and an electric wire with a connector according to the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.

Reference numeral 1 in Figs. 1 to 8 indicates the electric wire with connector of this embodiment. This electric wire with connector 1 includes a plurality of electric wires 10 (Figs. 1 to 3 and Figs. 5 to 8) and a connector 20 (Figs. 1 to 8) attached to the plurality of electric wires 10.

The electric wire with connector 1 includes at least a twisted pair 10A formed by twisting two electric wires 10 together (FIGS. 1 to 3 and 5 to 8). In the electric wire with connector 1, the twisted pair 10A is folded back from a folding point 10A3 to a first twisted wire section side 10A1 and a second twisted wire section side 10A2 , and a connector 20 is attached to the folding point 10A3 (FIG. 2). For example, the electric wire with connector 1 is formed by attaching the connector 20 to the folding point 10A3 of one twisted pair 10A drawn out from a trunk 10X (FIG. 9), and constitutes a wire harness WH together with the trunk 10X. The connector 20 is fitted and connected to, for example, a mating connector (not shown) of an electronic device EP (FIG. 9).

Although not shown in the figure, the electric wire 10 comprises a core wire that serves as a conductor and a coating that covers the core wire.

The connector 20 includes terminal fittings 30 and a housing 40 (Figs. 2 to 8). In this connector 20, the terminal fittings 30 for each electric wire 10 are housed in the housing 40. Here, a terminal fitting 30 is provided for each electric wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A. Furthermore, this connector 20 includes a holding member 50 that is assembled to the housing 40 and holds the twisted pair wire 10A within the housing 40 (Figs. 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8).

The terminal fittings 30 are made of a conductive material such as metal. The terminal fittings 30 are formed into a predetermined shape, for example, by press forming, such as bending or cutting, on a metal plate that serves as the base material.

The terminal fitting 30 has a pair of pressure-welding bodies 31, 31 that press against the core wire of the pressure-welded part 10a of the electric wire 10 as an electric wire connecting part that physically and electrically connects to the core wire of the electric wire 10 (Figs. 2 to 8). The pair of pressure-welding bodies 31, 31 are arranged opposite each other with a gap between their ends, and when the electric wire 10 is inserted between the ends, the ends cut the insulation and press against the core wire. The electric wire 10 that is pressure-welded to the pair of pressure-welding bodies 31, 31 is pulled out from between the pair of pressure-welding bodies in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the pressure-welding bodies 31, 31 are arranged opposite each other and the direction in which the electric wire 10 is inserted between the pressure-welding bodies 31, 31. The pressure-welding body 31 is formed as a single body. The end of the pressure-welding body 31 may be formed as a blade-shaped pressure-welding blade, or may be formed as a flat surface having a thickness equivalent to the plate thickness of the base material.

This terminal fitting 30 is configured as a connection terminal that is physically and electrically connected to a mating terminal fitting, and has a pair of pressure contacts 31, 31 and one terminal connection portion 32 (Figs. 2, 4, 6, and 8). The terminal connection portion 32 and the mating terminal connection portion of the mating terminal fitting are physically and electrically connected to each other by a mutual fitting connection, one of which is formed in a female terminal shape and the other of which is formed in a male terminal shape. The terminal connection portion 32 shown here is formed in a female terminal shape.

In the terminal fitting 30 shown here, a pair of pressure-insulating bodies 31, 31 and a terminal connection portion 32 are arranged in the direction of mating connection to the mating terminal connection portion. In this terminal fitting 30, the pair of pressure-insulating bodies 31, 31 are formed so that the electric wire 10 is inserted between the pair of pressure-insulating bodies 31, 31 in the mating connection direction.

In this electric wire with connector 1, each electric wire 10 at the turn-around point 10A3 in the twisted pair wire 10A is pressure-welded to a pair of pressure-welding bodies 31, 31 of the terminal fitting 30 for each electric wire 10, and the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted pair wire 10A are pulled out of the housing 40 in the direction opposite to the mating connection direction of the terminal connection portion 32.

The housing 40 is molded from an insulating material such as synthetic resin.

The terminal fittings 30 for each electric wire 10 are housed in the housing 40, and the twisted pair wire 10A is also housed in the housing 40. The twisted pair wire 10A is folded back from a folding point 10A3 into a first twisted wire section side 10A1 and a second twisted wire section side 10A2 and housed in the housing 40. The first twisted wire section side 10A1 and the second twisted wire section side 10A2 are drawn out of the housing 40 at the ends of the folding back.

The housing 40 has a first housing 40A and a second housing 40B that is assembled to the first housing 40A (Figures 1 to 8).

The first housing 40A has a terminal accommodating chamber 40a for each terminal fitting 30 in which the terminal fittings 30 for each electric wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A are accommodated side by side with a pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 protruding (FIGS. 2, 4, 6, and 8). That is, in this first housing 40A, a terminal accommodating chamber 40a for accommodating the terminal connection portion 32 is provided for each terminal fitting 30. In this first housing 40A, the multiple terminal fittings 30 are accommodated with their respective pressure contact bodies 31 arranged in a row. Therefore, in this first housing 40A, the terminal accommodating chambers 40a of the multiple terminal fittings 30 are arranged side by side in the direction in which the pressure contact bodies 31 of the multiple terminal fittings 30 are arranged. The first housing 40A shown here has two terminal accommodating chambers 40a.

Furthermore, the first housing 40A has a terminal insertion opening 40b, which is one opening in the terminal accommodating chamber 40a, through which the mating terminal connection portion is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber 40a, and a terminal withdrawal opening 40c, which is the other opening in the terminal accommodating chamber 40a, through which the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 are withdrawn from the terminal accommodating chamber 40a (Figs. 2, 4, 6, and 8). The first housing 40A shown here has a rectangular external shape.

In the second housing 40B, the twisted pair 10A is folded back to a first twisted wire section side 10A1 and a second twisted wire section side 10A2 starting from the wire 10 at the folding point 10A3 crimped to the pair of crimping bodies 31 , 31. In the second housing 40B, the folded back twisted pair 10A is housed together with the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31. Then, in the second housing 40B, the first twisted wire section side 10A1 and the second twisted wire section side 10A2 are pulled out from the folded end. The second housing 40B shown here houses one twisted pair 10A and a pair of crimping bodies 31, 31 for each wire 10 of the twisted pair 10A.

The second housing 40B has a first wire housing 41 and a second wire housing 42 that are assembled to each other (FIGS. 1 to 8). The first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 form a housing chamber 40d for the twisted pair 10A and the pair of insulation displacement bodies 31, 31 when they are facing each other at the assembly completion position (FIGS. 1 and 2). The first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 form a wire outlet 40e for pulling out the first twisted wire portion side 10A -1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A -2 of the twisted pair 10A at the assembly completion position (FIGS. 1 and 2). The first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 are assembled to the first housing 40A.

The first wire housing 41 shown here has a rectangular flat main wall 41a and rectangular flat cantilever side walls 41b, 41b arranged opposite each other and protruding in the same direction from two sides of the main wall 41a (FIGS. 1 and 3 to 8). In this first wire housing 41, a part of the twisted pair wire 10A is also housed in the space surrounded by the main wall 41a and the inner walls of the two side walls 41b, 41b. The second wire housing 42 shown here has a rectangular flat main wall 42a and rectangular flat cantilever side walls 42b, 42b arranged opposite each other and protruding in the same direction from two sides of the main wall 42a (FIGS. 1 and 3 to 8). In this second wire housing 42, a portion of the twisted pair wire 10A is housed in the space surrounded by the main wall 42a and the inner walls of the two side walls 42b, 42b. For convenience of illustration, a portion of one side wall 42b is omitted in Figures 3, 5, and 7, along with the second locking portion 43b described below.

Here, the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 are formed in the same shape. In the second housing 40B, when the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 are in the assembled position, the main walls 41a and 42a are arranged opposite to each other, the free ends of the side walls 41b and 42b on one side are butted against each other, and the free ends of the side walls 41b and 42b on the other side are butted against each other. Thus, the second housing 40B shown here has a square tube shape in which the direction of drawing out the first stranded wire section side 10A1 and the second stranded wire section side 10A2 is the tube axis in the assembled position. In the second housing 40B, the rectangular space inside serves as the housing chamber 40d, and the opening facing the first housing 40A across the housing chamber 40d serves as the wire pull-out opening 40e.

The second housing 40B has a locking mechanism 43 for maintaining the assembled state of the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 (FIGS. 1, 3, 5, and 7). For example, the locking mechanism 43 has a first locking portion 43a provided in the first wire housing 41 and a second locking portion 43b provided in the second wire housing 42 (FIGS. 3, 5, and 7). In the locking mechanism 43, the first locking portion 43a and the second locking portion 43b are arranged in a positional relationship that allows the assembled state of the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 to be maintained. Here, the first locking portion 43a is provided at the free end of each side wall body 41b of the first wire housing 41, and the second locking portion 43b is provided at the free end of each side wall body 42b of the second wire housing 42. In this lock mechanism 43, when the first electric wire housing 41 and the second electric wire housing 42 move toward the closed position described below to reach the assembly completion position, the first locking portion 43a and the second locking portion 43b are arranged in a state in which they can be locked to each other between the abutted free ends in order to prevent the first electric wire housing 41 and the second electric wire housing 42 from moving toward the open position described below. For example, one of the first locking portion 43a and the second locking portion 43b has a claw portion, and the other has a hook portion that hooks onto the claw portion as the first electric wire housing 41 and the second electric wire housing 42 move toward the open position.

In this connector 20 and connector-equipped electric wire 1, the twisted pair wire 10A before folding is crimped to a pair of crimping bodies 31, 31 on the first housing 40A side, and then the second housing 40B is assembled to the first housing 40A. For example, in this connector 20 and connector-equipped electric wire 1, the twisted pair wire 10A before folding, which is crimped to the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31, is arranged in the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 in front and behind the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31. In this connector 20 and connector-equipped electric wire 1, the twisted pair wire 10A is folded back while being pushed by the first electric wire housing 41 and the second electric wire housing 42, and the first electric wire housing 41 and the second electric wire housing 42 are assembled with the locking mechanism 43, and the first electric wire housing 41 and the second electric wire housing 42 are assembled to the first housing 40A.

In the second housing 40B shown here, a part of the twisted pair wire 10A before folding is arranged between the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 before assembly, and the wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A before folding is inserted between a pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 interposed between the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42. Then, in this second housing 40B, the twisted pair wire 10A is folded back in conjunction with the assembly operation of the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42. Here, the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 are assembled to the assembly completion position while rotating them relative to the first housing 40A, and the twisted pair wire 10A is pushed and folded back by the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42. This housing 40 has a first hinge portion 40C provided between the first housing 40A and the first wire housing portion 41, and a second hinge portion 40D provided between the first housing 40A and the second wire housing portion 42 (Figures 2, 4, 6, and 8).

The first hinge portion 40C is formed to allow the first wire accommodating portion 41 to rotate relative to the first housing 40A together with the first wiring and twisted wire portion between an open position of the first wire accommodating portion 41 in which a portion of the twisted pair wire 10A that becomes a part of the first twisted wire portion 10A1 after folding back (hereinafter referred to as the "first wiring and twisted wire portion") is arranged in the first wire accommodating portion 41 and a closed position of the first wire accommodating portion 41 as an assembly completion position. In other words, the first hinge portion 40C is formed to allow the first wire accommodating portion 41 to rotate relative to the first housing 40A between the open position of the first wire accommodating portion 41 in which the twisted pair wire 10A is not folded back and the closed position of the first wire accommodating portion 41 in which the twisted pair wire 10A is folded back.

The second hinge portion 40D is formed to allow the second wire housing 42 to rotate together with the second wiring and twisted wire portion relative to the first housing 40A between an open position of the second wire housing 42 in which a portion of the twisted pair wire 10A that becomes a part of the second twisted wire portion 10A2 after folding back (hereinafter referred to as the "second wiring and twisted wire portion") is routed in the second wire housing 42 and a closed position of the second wire housing 42 as the assembly completion position. In other words, the second hinge portion 40D is formed to allow the second wire housing 42 to rotate relative to the first housing 40A between the open position of the second wire housing 42 in which the twisted pair wire 10A is not folded back and the closed position of the second wire housing 42 in which the twisted pair wire 10A is folded back.

The first hinge portion 40C is provided at a position where the first wire housing 41 can be rotated relative to the first housing 40A between the closed position and the open position while a portion of the twisted pair wire 10A is routed between the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42. The second hinge portion 40D is provided at a position where the second wire housing 42 can be rotated relative to the first housing 40A between the closed position and the open position while a portion of the twisted pair wire 10A is routed between the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42. The first hinge portion 40C and the second hinge portion 40D shown here each have an axis of rotation that is perpendicular to the direction in which the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted wire pair 10A face each other and the direction in which the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 are drawn out. In the housing 40 shown here, living hinges are applied to the first hinge portion 40C and the second hinge portion 40D, and the first housing 40A, the first electric wire housing portion 41, the second electric wire housing portion 42, the first hinge portion 40C, and the second hinge portion 40D are integrally formed.

The holding member 50 is disposed in the accommodation chamber 40d of the second housing 40B and holds the twisted pair wire 10A after folding back in the accommodation chamber 40d. The holding member 50 has a first wire pressing portion 51 that holds the first twisted wire portion 10A1 housed in the first wire accommodating portion 41 in the assembly completion position between the holding member 50 and an inner wall of the first wire accommodating portion 41, and a second wire pressing portion 52 that holds the second twisted wire portion 10A2 housed in the second wire accommodating portion 42 in the assembly completion position between the holding member 50 and an inner wall of the second wire accommodating portion 42 (FIGS. 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8). In this retaining member 50, a first wire pressing portion 51 is interposed between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 and the first stranded wire portion side 10A1 , and a second wire pressing portion 52 is interposed between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 and the second stranded wire portion side 10A2.

The first wire pressing portion 51 is disposed to face the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31 in one drawing direction of the electric wire 10 from between the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31, and is disposed to face the electric wire 10 drawn out in the one drawing direction on the electric wire drawing outlet 40e side in the assembly completion position. Furthermore, the first wire pressing portion 51 is disposed to face the inner wall of the main wall body 41a in the first wire accommodating portion 41 in the assembly completion position with a gap therebetween. The gap is set to be equal to the wire diameter of the electric wire 10. Thus, in the housing 40, by rotating the first wire accommodating portion 41 relative to the first housing 40A from the closed position to the open position, the electric wire 10 on the first twisted wire portion side 10A 1 is clamped between the inner wall of the main wall body 41a and the first wire pressing portion 51 when the first wire accommodating portion 41 is in the assembly completion position. The first wire pressing portion 51 shown here clamps the end of the wire 10 on the first stranded wire portion side 10A1 on the turn-back point 10A3 side between the first stranded wire portion side 10A1 and the inner wall of the main wall body 41a.

On the other hand, the second wire pressing portion 52 is disposed to face the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31 in the other drawing direction of the electric wire 10 from between the pair of crimping bodies 31, 31, and is disposed to face the electric wire 10 drawn out in the other drawing direction on the electric wire drawing outlet 40e side in the assembly completion position. Furthermore, the second wire pressing portion 52 is disposed to face the inner wall of the main wall body 42a in the second electric wire accommodating portion 42 in the assembly completion position with a gap therebetween. The gap is set to be equal to the electric wire diameter of the electric wire 10. Thus, in the housing 40, by rotating the second electric wire accommodating portion 42 relative to the first housing 40A from the closed position to the open position, the electric wire 10 on the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 is clamped between the inner wall of the main wall body 42a and the second wire pressing portion 52 when the second electric wire accommodating portion 42 is in the assembly completion position. The second wire pressing portion 52 shown here clamps the end of the wire 10 on the second stranded wire portion side 10A2 on the turn-back point 10A3 side between the second stranded wire portion side 10A2 and the inner wall of the main wall body 42a.

For example, the holding member 50 shown here has a rectangular, flat base 53, and a first electric wire pressing portion 51 and a second electric wire pressing portion 52 are suspended from one flat surface of the base 53 (FIGS. 3, 5, and 7). Here, when the holding member 50 is in the position where it has been completely assembled into the housing 40, the vertical directions of the first electric wire pressing portion 51 and the second electric wire pressing portion 52 are aligned with the arrangement direction of the respective crimping bodies 31.

The first wire pressing portion 51 shown here is disposed opposite to each pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 of the multiple terminal fittings 30, and is formed to sandwich between the inner wall of the main wall body 41a each of the electric wires 10 (each electric wire 10 on the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 of the twisted pair wire 10A) drawn out from between each pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 in one drawing direction. The second wire pressing portion 52 shown here is disposed opposite to each pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 of the multiple terminal fittings 30, and is formed to sandwich between the inner wall of the main wall body 42a each of the electric wires 10 (each electric wire 10 on the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted pair wire 10A) drawn out from between each pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 in the other drawing direction. For example, the first wire pressing portion 51 and the second wire pressing portion 52 are formed in a shaft shape extending from the base portion 53 so as to be disposed opposite to each pair of insulation displacement bodies 31 , 31 .

Furthermore, the first wire pressing portion 51 and the second wire pressing portion 52 shown here each have an arc-shaped surface 51a, 52a that aligns the folded electric wire 10 in the circumferential direction (FIGS. 2 and 8). The arc-shaped surfaces 51a, 52a are formed to have a curvature large enough not to cause excessive bending stress in the folded electric wire 10. Such excessive bending stress refers to, for example, bending stress large enough to reduce the durability of the twisted pair wire 10A or bending stress large enough to cause untwisting of the twisted pair wire 10A. Therefore, this connector 20 and connector-equipped electric wire 1 can suppress deterioration in durability and communication performance.

Furthermore, the holding member 50 shown here is provided with a terminal locking portion 54 that locks the terminal fitting 30 (terminal connection portion 32) so that it does not slip out of the terminal accommodating chamber 40a and holds the terminal fitting 30 (terminal connection portion 32) in the terminal accommodating chamber 40a (Figs. 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8). The terminal locking portion 54 is arranged to face the terminal outlet 40c on the terminal accommodating chamber 40a side from the electric wire 10 drawn out from between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31. The terminal locking portion 54 shown here is formed in an axial shape extending from the base 53 in order to face each terminal outlet 40c for each terminal fitting 30, like the first electric wire pressing portion 51 and the second electric wire pressing portion 52. Furthermore, the terminal locking portion 54 shown here is arranged on the terminal outlet 40c side from the second electric wire pressing portion 52.

The housing 40 is provided with a holding portion 40E for holding the holding member 50 (FIGS. 2 to 8). Here, the holding portion 40E is provided at two locations, and each holding portion 40E holds the holding member 50. The two holding portions 40E are arranged in a position where the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 of each of the multiple terminal fittings 30 is interposed between them in the arrangement direction of the pressure contact bodies 31 of each of the multiple terminal fittings 30. Each of the two holding portions 40E is provided with a first fitting portion 44a into which the first electric wire pressing portion 51 is fitted, a second fitting portion 44b into which the second electric wire pressing portion 52 is fitted, and a third fitting portion 44c into which the terminal locking portion 54 is fitted (FIGS. 2, 4, 6, and 8).

For example, the two holding portions 40E are formed in a rectangular plate shape and protrude from the wall surface on the terminal outlet 40c side of the first housing 40A. The first fitting portion 44a is formed in the same shape as a cross section perpendicular to the axis of the first electric wire pressing portion 51. The second fitting portion 44b is formed in the same shape as a cross section perpendicular to the axis of the second electric wire pressing portion 52. The third fitting portion 44c is formed in the same shape as a cross section perpendicular to the axis of the terminal locking portion 54. The holding member 50 holds the two holding portions 40E by fitting the first electric wire pressing portion 51 into the first fitting portion 44a of the two holding portions 40E, fitting the second electric wire pressing portion 52 into the second fitting portion 44b of the two holding portions 40E, and fitting the terminal locking portion 54 into the third fitting portion 44c of the two holding portions 40E.

In this connector 20 and connector-attached electric wire 1, when the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 are in the open position, a pair of insulation displacement bodies 31, 31 are pressure-welded to each of the electric wires 10 at a portion that will become the folding point 10A3 of the twisted pair wire 10A after folding back, and the first wiring twisted wire portion that will become the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 of the twisted pair wire 10A after folding back is housed in the first wire housing 41, and the second wiring twisted wire portion that will become the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted pair wire 10A after folding back is housed in the second wire housing 42, and a part of the twisted pair wire 10A is arranged between the first wire housing 41 and the second wire housing 42 (FIGS. 5 and 6). Thereafter, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1, the holding member 50 is assembled to the two holding portions 40E, so that the electric wire 10 drawn out from between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 in one drawing direction is disposed closer to the terminal outlet 40c than the first wire pressing portion 51, and the electric wire 10 drawn out from between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 in the other drawing direction is disposed between the second electric wire accommodating portion 42 and the terminal locking portion 54 (FIGS. 7 and 8). Then, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1, the first electric wire accommodating portion 41 is rotated relative to the first housing 40A to the closed position, and the second electric wire accommodating portion 42 is rotated relative to the first housing 40A to the closed position, with the first hinge portion 40C and the second hinge portion 40D serving as the rotation center, respectively (FIGS. 1 and 2). As a result, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1, the electric wires 10 of the first wiring and twisted wire portion, which becomes the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 , are pushed and folded back by the inner wall of the main wall body 41a of the first electric wire accommodating portion 41, and the electric wires 10 of the second wiring and twisted wire portion, which becomes the second twisted wire portion side 10A2, are pushed and folded back by the inner wall of the main wall body 42a of the second electric wire accommodating portion 42. Then, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1, when the first electric wire accommodating portion 41 and the second electric wire accommodating portion 42 are in the closed position and held by the lock mechanism 43, the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 is sandwiched between the inner wall of the main wall body 41a and the first electric wire accommodating portion 41, and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 is sandwiched between the inner wall of the main wall body 42a and the second electric wire accommodating portion 42.

As described above, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1 of this embodiment, the twisted pair wire 10A is accommodated in the housing 40 while the folded shape is maintained by the first electric wire accommodating section 41 and the second electric wire accommodating section 42. Therefore, in this connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1, the twist of the two electric wires 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A is difficult to untwist, and a decrease in communication performance can be suppressed.

Here, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1 of this embodiment, the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted pair wire 10A are pulled out from the electric wire pull-out port 40e to the outside of the housing 40. Therefore, a force in the pull-out direction may act on the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 outside the housing 40. However, in the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1, the force can be received by the first electric wire housing portion 41 and the second electric wire housing portion 42, and therefore, the electric wire 10 at the turn-back point 10A3 can be prevented from slipping out from between the pair of insulation displacement bodies 31, 31. Therefore, the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1 can also suppress a decrease in communication performance from this point of view.

[Modification]
Reference numeral 2 in Fig. 10 to Fig. 13 indicates a connector-equipped electric wire of this modified example. The connector-equipped electric wire 2 of this modified example is obtained by replacing the connector 20 in the connector-equipped electric wire 1 of the above-described embodiment with a connector 120 described below. The connector 120 of this modified example is obtained by replacing the housing 40 and the holding member 50 in the connector 20 of the above-described embodiment with a housing 140 and a holding member 150, respectively. For this reason, in the following, parts equivalent to those of the connector 20 and the connector-equipped electric wire 1 of the embodiment will be denoted by the same reference numerals as in this embodiment, and description thereof will be omitted.

The housing 140 of this modification has a first housing 140A formed similarly to the housing 40 of the embodiment, and a second housing 140B assembled to the first housing 140A (FIGS. 10 to 13). The second housing 140B has a first electric wire housing portion 141 and a second electric wire housing portion 142 similar to the second housing 40B of the embodiment. In this second housing 140B, the first electric wire housing portion 141 is rotated relative to the first housing 140A by the first hinge portion 140C, and the second electric wire housing portion 142 is rotated relative to the first housing 140A by the second hinge portion 140D, in the same manner as the second housing 40B of the embodiment. The first electric wire housing portion 141 of this modification has a main wall body 141a and two side wall bodies 141b, 141b similar to the first electric wire housing portion 41 of the embodiment. Similarly, the second wire housing 142 of this modified example has a main wall 142a and two side walls 142b, 142b similar to the second wire housing 42 of the embodiment.

Therefore, in the housing 140 of this modification, the terminal fittings 30 for each electric wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A are arranged in a state in which the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 protrude, and are accommodated in the terminal accommodating chamber 40a of the first housing 140A (FIGS. 11 and 12). Furthermore, in this housing 140, when the first electric wire accommodating portion 141 and the second electric wire accommodating portion 142 are in the assembly completion position, an accommodating chamber 40d and an electric wire outlet 40e are formed in the second housing 140B (FIG. 10). Therefore, the accommodating chamber 40d accommodates the twisted pair wire 10A in which the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 are pressure-welded to the electric wire 10 at the turn-back point 10A3. Then, in this twisted pair wire 10A, the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 are pulled out to the outside from the electric wire outlet 40e.

In addition, although not shown, the second housing 140B of this modified example has the same locking mechanism 43 as in the embodiment, which keeps the first wire housing 141 and the second wire housing 142 in an assembled state.

The retaining member 150 of this modification has a first electric wire pressing portion 151 and a second electric wire pressing portion 152 similar to those of the retaining member 50 of the embodiment (FIGS. 11 to 13). Therefore, in the accommodating chamber 40d of the second housing 140B, the first twisted wire portion 10A1 accommodated in the first electric wire accommodating portion 141 is sandwiched between the inner wall of the main wall body 141a of the first electric wire accommodating portion 141 and the first electric wire pressing portion 151. The first electric wire pressing portion 151 and the second electric wire pressing portion 152 are suspended from a base portion 153 in the same manner as the first electric wire pressing portion 51 and the second electric wire pressing portion 52 of the embodiment (FIGS. 11 and 12). In addition, although not shown, the first wire pressing portion 151 and the second wire pressing portion 152 may each be provided with an arc-shaped surface the same as the arc-shaped surfaces 51a, 52a of the first wire pressing portion 51 and the second wire pressing portion 52 in the embodiment.

Furthermore, the retaining member 150 of this modified example has a terminal locking portion 154 similar to the retaining member 50 of the embodiment (FIGS. 11 to 13). Therefore, in the receiving chamber 40d of the second housing 140B, the terminal locking portion 154 locks the terminal fitting 30 (terminal connection portion 32) and holds the terminal fitting 30 (terminal connection portion 32) in the terminal receiving chamber 40a.

Here, the twisted pair wire 10A is pre-assembled to the holding member 150 of this modified example, and the holding member 150 is assembled to the housing 140 together with the twisted pair wire 10A, thereby pressing the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 against each electric wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A. Therefore, in this holding member 150, the second electric wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154 are arranged so that the distance between them is equal to the electric wire diameter of the electric wire 10, and the electric wires 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A are aligned in the arrangement direction of the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 of each of the multiple terminal fittings 30 between the second electric wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154.

The holding member 150 also has a wire alignment portion 155 on the first wire pressing portion 151 side, which has the same wire alignment function as the terminal locking portion 154 (Figs. 11 to 13). The wire alignment portion 155 is formed in the same shape as the terminal locking portion 154, and is disposed relative to the first wire pressing portion 151 in the same manner as the terminal locking portion 154 is disposed relative to the second wire pressing portion 152 on the first wire pressing portion 151 side. Therefore, in the holding member 150, the first wire pressing portion 151 and the wire alignment portion 155 are disposed so that the distance therebetween is equal to the wire diameter of the wire 10.

In addition, in this holding member 150, each electric wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A is inserted from the opening on the free end side between the first electric wire pressing portion 151 and the electric wire alignment portion 155, and is inserted from the opening on the free end side between the second electric wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154. In this holding member 150, in order to improve the workability when assembling the twisted pair wire 10A, each opening is made wider than the distance between the first electric wire pressing portion 151 and the electric wire alignment portion 155 and the distance between the second electric wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154.

In this holding member 150, each wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A inserted from each opening is guided one by one between the first wire pressing portion 151 and the wire alignment portion 155 and between the second wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154. For this reason, in this holding member 150, a tapered portion 156a is provided between the free end side ends of the first wire pressing portion 151 and the wire alignment portion 155, the spacing of which increases toward the opening, and a tapered portion 156b is provided between the free end side ends of the second wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154, the spacing of which increases toward the opening (FIGS. 11 to 13). As a result, in this holding member 150, each electric wire 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A inserted from each opening can be guided by each tapered portion 156a, 156b and inserted one by one between the first electric wire pressing portion 151 and the electric wire alignment portion 155, and between the second electric wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154 (Figure 14).

Therefore, when the holding member 150 is assembled to the housing 140, the wires 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A are aligned along the arrangement direction of the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 between the first wire pressing portion 151 and the wire alignment portion 155 on one side of the wires 10 drawn out from between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 of the multiple terminal fittings 30. Furthermore, when the holding member 150 is assembled to the housing 140, the wires 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A are aligned along the arrangement direction of the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31 between the second wire pressing portion 152 and the terminal locking portion 154 on the other side of the wires 10 drawn out from between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31.

In the connector 120 and the electric wire 2 with connector of this modified example, first, the twisted pair wire 10A is assembled to the holding member 150 (FIGS. 11 and 12). Next, in the connector 120 and the electric wire 2 with connector, the holding member 150 is assembled together with the twisted pair wire 10A to the housing 140 in which the first electric wire accommodating portion 141 and the second electric wire accommodating portion 142 are in the open position (FIGS. 12 and 13). In connection with this assembly, in the connector 120 and the connector-attached electric wire 2, a pair of insulation displacement bodies 31, 31 are press-connected to the electric wires 10 at the portions that will become the turn point 10A3 of the twisted pair 10A after folding back, and the first wiring twisted wire portion that will become the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 of the twisted pair 10A after folding back is accommodated in the first wire accommodating portion 141, and the second wiring twisted wire portion that will become the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted pair 10A after folding back is accommodated in the second wire accommodating portion 142, so that a portion of the twisted pair 10A is arranged between the first wire accommodating portion 141 and the second wire accommodating portion 142 ( FIG. 13 ). Thereafter, in the connector 120 and the electric wire 2 with the connector, the first wire accommodating portion 141 is rotated to the closed position relative to the first housing 140A, and the second wire accommodating portion 142 is rotated to the closed position relative to the first housing 140A, with the first hinge portion 140C and the second hinge portion 140D serving as the rotation center, respectively (FIGS. 13 and 10). As a result, in the connector 120 and the electric wire 2 with the connector, the electric wire 10 of the first wiring and twisted wire portion, which is the first twisted wire portion side 10A1, is pushed against the inner wall of the main wall body 141a of the first wire accommodating portion 141 and folded back, and the electric wire 10 of the second wiring and twisted wire portion, which is the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 , is pushed against the inner wall of the main wall body 142a of the second wire accommodating portion 142 and folded back. In the connector 120 and the electric wire 2 with connector, when the first electric wire accommodating portion 141 and the second electric wire accommodating portion 142 are in the closed position, the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 is clamped between the inner wall of the main wall body 141a and the first electric wire accommodating portion 141, and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 is clamped between the inner wall of the main wall body 142a and the second electric wire accommodating portion 142.

As described above, in the connector 120 and the electric wire with connector 2 of this modified example, the twisted pair wire 10A is accommodated in the housing 140 while the folded shape is maintained by the first electric wire accommodating portion 141 and the second electric wire accommodating portion 142, just like the connector 20 and the electric wire with connector 1 of the embodiment. Therefore, in this connector 120 and the electric wire with connector 2, the twist of the two electric wires 10 of the twisted pair wire 10A is difficult to untwist, and a decrease in communication performance can be suppressed.

Here, in the connector 120 and the connector-attached electric wire 2 of this modification, the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 of the twisted pair wire 10A are pulled out of the housing 140 from the wire pull-out opening 40e, as in the connector 20 and the connector-attached electric wire 1 of the embodiment. Therefore, even in this modification, a force in the pull-out direction may act on the first twisted wire portion side 10A1 and the second twisted wire portion side 10A2 outside the housing 140. However, in the connector 120 and the connector-attached electric wire 2, the force can be received by the first wire housing portion 141 and the second wire housing portion 142, and therefore, the wire 10 at the turn-back point 10A3 can be prevented from slipping out from between the pair of pressure contact bodies 31, 31. Therefore, the connector 120 and the connector-attached electric wire 2 can also suppress a decrease in communication performance from this point of view.
