Description

The present invention relates to a water-stopping member that is attached to the fixed frame or shoji frame of a fitting, and to a fitting that has a fixed frame fixed to an opening and a shoji frame attached to this fixed frame, with the water-stopping member attached to the fixed frame and/or the shoji frame.

As a measure against flood damage caused by the recent frequent occurrence of torrential rains, the following Patent Document 1 discloses a water intrusion prevention structure in which a water stop member is attached to a fixed frame fixed to the opening of a fixture to prevent water from entering a room. The water stop member has an attachment part that is attached to the fixed frame and a main water stop part, and the main water stop part has a pair of side parts that extend in a direction away from the attachment part and a front part that connects the tips of the pair of side parts. When a shoji screen attached to the fixed frame is moved to the closed position, a specified part of the shoji screen frame abuts against the water stop member.

However, the water-stopping members and fittings disclosed in the above-mentioned Patent Document 1 have the following problems to be solved: (1) the water-stopping effect is not always sufficient, (2) in order to prevent water leakage at the corners of the fixing frame, it is necessary to use a water-stopping member specifically for the corners, separate from the water-stopping members in other parts, and (3) the placement of the water-stopping member tends to significantly increase the resistance when closing the shoji screen.

The present invention was made in light of the above facts, and its main technical objective is to provide a new and improved water-stopping member that can achieve a sufficient water-stopping effect using a single, continuously extending water-stopping member without the need for a dedicated water-stopping member for the corners, and that can keep the increase in resistance when closing the shoji screen to a sufficiently small value, as well as a fitting equipped with such a water-stopping member.

As a result of extensive research and experimentation, the inventors have discovered that the above-mentioned main technical objective can be achieved by giving the main water-stopping portion of the water-stopping component a specific shape and dimensions and by forming it from a specific material, namely a foamed elastomer with an Asker E hardness of 25 to 35.

That is, according to the present invention, as a water-stopping member that achieves the above-mentioned main technical object,
An elongated waterproofing member comprising an attachment base to be attached to a fixed frame of a fixture or a shoji frame, and a waterproofing main part having a pair of side parts extending in a widthwise direction and away from the attachment base with a gap therebetween, and a front part connecting the tips of the pair of side parts,
the mounting base has an extension portion that extends straight and has a thick portion and a thin tip portion, and a pair of thin engaging portions that protrude from the thin tip portion on both sides in the width direction,
The pair of side portions of the water-stopping main portion extend straight and parallel to each other, and the front portion is in a convex arc shape,
At least the watertight main portion is formed from a foamed elastomer having an Asker E hardness of 25 to 35,
The width of the watertight main portion is 7.0 to 12.0 mm, the height is 0.50 to 0.75 times the width, and the thickness of the pair of side portions and the front portion is 1.0 to 1.9 mm.
A water-stopping member characterized by the above features is provided.
The size of each of the water-stopping members is the size before the water-stopping members are attached to the fixed frame or the shoji frame. For example, when attaching the water-stopping members to the corners of the fixed frame or the shoji frame, the water-stopping members may be deformed before attachment, but strictly speaking, the size at the corners is different from the above size because the water-stopping members are deformed. Also, for example, when the water-stopping members are attached to the fixed frame and the shoji frame is in the closed position, the water-stopping members are crushed by the shoji frame, and strictly speaking, the size is different from the above size in such a state. However, the water-stopping members of the present invention use a foamed elastomer that satisfies specific physical properties and satisfies specific shapes and sizes, and therefore exhibit excellent water leakage prevention effects even in the deformed state.

Preferably, the thinned tip portion has a groove formed in the tip surface.
The water -stopping main part has a pair of connecting parts extending widthwise from each of the two side surfaces of the base end of the thick-walled part in the hanging part of the mounting base to each of the inner surfaces of the base ends of the pair of side parts of the water-stopping main part, and the thickness of the connecting parts is preferably 1.0 to 3.0 mm.
Advantageously, the mounting base is made from a non-foamed flexible synthetic resin.
It is preferable that the mounting base and the water blocking base are integrally formed by co-extrusion.
Desirably, the foamed elastomer has a specific gravity of 0.50 to 0.60 according to the test of JIS K 7112, and an elongation percentage of 400 to 800% according to the test of JIS K 6251. The foamed elastomer is preferably a foamed styrene-based elastomer or a foamed olefin-based elastomer.
The outer and inner surfaces of the side and front parts of the watertight main part, and also the inner surface of the connecting part, are preferably coated with an anti-sticking agent.
It is also possible to cut off one of the side portions of the watertight main portion.

Furthermore, according to the present invention, as a fitting that achieves the above-mentioned main technical object,
The fitting is characterized in that it comprises a fixed frame fixed to an opening and a shoji frame attached to the fixed frame, the fixed frame and/or the shoji frame are fitted with a water-stopping member as described above that extends continuously, and the fixed frame and the shoji frame have a water leakage rate of 1000 ml/h-m2 or less (0.001 m3 /h- m2 or less) in the water-stopping performance test specified in JIS A 4716.
By optimizing the water-stopping member, the amount of water leakage can be reduced to 300 ml/h·m2 or less , or to 150 ml/h· m2 or less. Most preferably, the amount of water leakage is 0 ml/h· m2 .

As will be clearly understood from the examples and comparative examples described below, the water-stopping material and fittings of the present invention can achieve sufficient water-stopping effect by using a single, continuously extending water-stopping material without the need for a dedicated water-stopping material for corners, and can keep the increase in resistance when closing the shoji screen to a sufficiently small value.

The following provides further details with reference to the attached drawings showing a preferred embodiment of a water-stopping member constructed according to the present invention and a preferred embodiment of a fitting constructed according to the present invention.

Figures 1 and 2 show a preferred embodiment of a water-stopping member constructed according to the present invention. The elongated water-stopping member, generally designated by the numeral 2, comprises an attachment base 4 and a main water-stopping portion 6.

The mounting base 4 of the water-stopping member 2 has a straight extending extension 8 and a pair of thin-walled engaging parts 10. The extension 8 has a thick part 8a and a thin-walled tip 8b, and the right half of the thick part 8a, more specifically the part protruding from the connection part of the main water-stopping part described later, is gradually thinner toward the tip. A groove 12 with a concave arc-shaped bottom surface is formed on the tip surface of the thin-walled tip 8b. The pair of thin-walled engaging parts 10 protrude from the tip of the thin-walled tip 8b on both sides in the width direction, more specifically on both sides in the width direction, inclining toward the thick part 8a. The thickness of the pair of thin-walled engaging parts 10 gradually decreases toward the tip. Such a mounting base 4 is preferably made of a non-foaming soft synthetic resin such as soft polyvinyl chloride from the viewpoint of the ease of mounting to the fixed frame and/or shoji frame described later.

The main water-stopping part 6 of the water-stopping member 2 has a pair of side parts 14 extending in a direction away from the mounting base 4 at a widthwise interval, a front part 16 connecting the tips of the pair of side parts 14, and a connecting part 18 extending in the widthwise direction from each of the both side surfaces of the base end of the thick part 8a of the mounting base 4 to each of the base end inner surfaces of the pair of side parts 14. It is important that the pair of side parts 14 extend straight and parallel to each other. Depending on the size of the entire water-stopping main part 6, the front part 16 is preferably a convex arc shape with a curvature radius of 4.5 to 6.5 mm, and particularly preferably a convex arc shape with a curvature radius of 5.0 to 6.0 mm. By making the main water-stopping part 6 have such a structure, the adhesion with each frame member is improved, and the water-stopping performance can be improved.
As will be clearly understood from the description of the examples and comparative examples described later, it is important that the width w of the main water-stopping portion 6 is 7.0 to 12.0 mm, and the height h is 0.50 to 0.75 times the width w (h/w = 0.50 to 0.75). If the width w and height h are too large, the water-stopping effect decreases and the resistance when closing the screen increases excessively, while if the width w and height h are too small, the water-stopping effect decreases. Also, if the h/w is too small or too large, the shape of the front portion 16 at the corners cannot maintain flatness due to the influence of bending. Therefore, it is particularly preferable that the width w is 9.0 to 10.5 mm, and the height h is 0.65 to 0.70 times the width w (h/w = 0.65 to 0.70).
Furthermore, it is important that the thickness t1 of the pair of side portions 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are 1.0 to 1.9 mm. If the thickness t1 of the pair of side portions 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are too large, the resistance when closing the shoji screen increases excessively, while if the thickness t1 of the pair of side portions 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are too small, the water-stopping effect decreases. Therefore, it is particularly preferable that the thickness t1 of the side portions 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are 1.2 to 1.5 mm. However, when optimizing the ratio of the width w to the height h, specifically, when h/w=0.65 to 0.70 times, it is preferable that the thickness t1 of the side portions 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are 1.0 to 1.3 mm. In particular, when the width w is 9.0 to 10.0 mm and h/w=0.65 to 0.70, the resistance when closing the shoji screen can be reduced while maintaining a high water-stopping effect by setting the thickness t1 of the side portion 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 to 1.0 to 1.2 mm. As mentioned above, the resistance tends to be reduced when the thickness t1 of the side portion 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are thinner. However, a higher water-stopping effect is more effective as a fitting than a higher resistance. Furthermore, thicker t1 and t2 are more suitable for repeated use (durability). Therefore, most preferably, when h/w=0.65 to 0.70, the thickness t1 of the side portion 14 and the thickness t2 of the front portion 16 are 1.1 to 1.2 mm.
The thickness t3 of the connection portion 18 of the main waterproof portion 6 is preferably 1.0 to 3.0 mm, and more preferably about 1.5 to 1.9 mm.

In order to achieve the required water-stopping effect, it is important that the main water-stopping portion 6 of the water-stopping member 2 constructed according to the present invention is formed from a foamed elastomer having an Asker E hardness of 25 to 35, preferably a foamed styrene-based elastomer or a foamed polyolefin-based elastomer. A styrene-based elastomer is an elastomer having a polystyrene portion, and a polyolefin-based elastomer is an ethylene-propylene rubber, an ethylene-propylene diene rubber, or a combination of these rubbers with polypropylene as required. Considering adhesion, durability, etc., it is preferable to use a foamed styrene-based elastomer.
The foamed elastomer preferably has a specific gravity of 0.50 to 0.60 according to the JIS K 7112 test and an elongation rate of 400 to 800% according to the JIS K 6251 test. In order to keep the increase in resistance caused by the installation of the water-stopping member 2 when closing the screen to a sufficiently small value, it is preferable that the outer and inner surfaces of the pair of side parts 14 and the front part 16 and the inner surface of the connecting part 18 are coated with an appropriate anti-adhesive agent such as silicone or fluorine. In other words, it is preferable that the anti-adhesive agent is coated on the part other than the outer surface of the connecting part 18 (the outer surface on the side where the thin-walled tip part 8b is present), and that the outer surface of the connecting part 18 is not coated with the anti-adhesive agent.

The water-stopping member 2 as described above can be molded as a single unit by well-known co-extrusion molding. During this co-extrusion molding, the water-stopping main part 6 can be formed by extrusion molding while foaming.

As mentioned above, the mounting base 4 is preferably made of a non-foamed soft synthetic resin, but if desired, the mounting base 4 can also be made of the same material as the main water-stopping part 6, i.e., foamed elastomer as described above.

Next, an example of the use of the water-stopping member 2 constructed according to the present invention will be described. FIG. 3 shows a part of a fitting to which the water-stopping member 2 constructed according to the present invention is applied. The fitting shown has a rectangular opening (not shown), a rectangular fixed frame 20 is fixed to the opening, and a shoji screen 22 is attached to the fixed frame 20. In the illustrated embodiment, the shoji screen 22 is an inward-opening door that swings open and closed about a pivot axis extending along one side edge, and includes a shoji screen frame 24 rotatably attached to the fixed frame 20 and a plurality of glass sheets arranged in parallel at appropriate intervals in a direction perpendicular to the paper surface in FIG. 3 (only the innermost glass sheet 26 is shown in FIG. 3). Such an opening, fixed frame 20, and shoji screen 22 themselves may be of a known form, and detailed descriptions of these will be omitted in this specification.

Continuing the explanation with reference to Figures 4 and 5 in addition to Figure 3, the fixed frame 20 is composed of a pair of side frame members 28, an upper frame member 30 and a lower frame member 32. The pair of side frame members 28, the upper frame member 30 and the lower frame member 32 are fixed to a pair of studs, lintels and studs (not shown) that define the opening. As is well known, the pair of side frame members 28, the upper frame member 30 and the lower frame member 32 are conveniently formed by extruding a suitable synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride to form an elongated frame member and appropriately cutting the frame member, and the pair of side frame members 28, the upper frame member 30 and the lower frame member 32 have the same cross-sectional shape. Both ends of the upper frame member 30 are welded to the upper ends of the pair of side frame members 28, and both ends of the lower frame member 33 are welded to the lower ends of the pair of side frame members 28. Each of the pair of side frame members 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32 shown in the figure has a mounting groove 34 located at the inner peripheral end and facing the room side. The width of the opening end of the mounting groove 34 is set to be slightly narrower than the width of the main part. As described below, the mounting base 3 of the water-stopping member 2 described above is inserted into the mounting groove 34. The configuration of the pair of side frame members 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32 as described above is a well-known form and does not constitute a new feature of the building constructed according to the present invention, and therefore a detailed description of the configuration of the pair of side frame members 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32 is omitted.

The water-stopping member 2 constructed according to the present invention is cut to a length corresponding to the entire length of the mounting groove 34 of the pair of side frames 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32, which extend continuously in a rectangular shape, and is attached to the fixed frame 20 by elastically deforming the tip of the mounting base 4 and forcibly inserting it into the mounting groove 34 of the pair of side frames 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32, which extend continuously in a rectangular shape (in Figures 4 and 5, the shoji frame 24 is shown in the closed position, and therefore the water-stopping main part 6 of the water-stopping member 2 is crushed by the shoji frame 24 in the closed position, but in Figures 4 and 5, the water-stopping member 2 is shown in an uncrushed state for convenience). The outer surface of the connection part 18 of the water-stopping main part 6 of the water-stopping member 2 is located against the flat surfaces located on both sides of the opening end of the mounting groove 34. Both ends of the continuously extending water-stopping member 2 are joined to each other by an appropriate joining means such as an adhesive, and are positioned, for example, in the mounting groove 34 of the upper frame member 30. As can be clearly understood by referring to FIG. 6, which illustrates the corner between one end of the lower frame member 32 and the lower end of one of the side frame members 28, the water-stopping member 2 constructed according to the present invention can extend continuously through the corners without being excessively deformed, even at the corners between both ends of the upper frame member 30 and the upper ends of the pair of side frame members 28 and the corners between both ends of the lower frame member 32 and the lower ends of the pair of side frame members 28. Therefore, it is not necessary to separately prepare water-stopping members dedicated to the corners, and the required water-stopping effect can be achieved by using a single continuously extending water-stopping member 2.

Continuing the explanation with reference to Figures 4 and 5 along with Figure 3, the shoji frame 24 of the shoji 22 is composed of a pair of side frame members 36, an upper frame member 38, and a lower frame member 40. As is well known, the pair of side frame members 36, the upper frame member 38, and the lower frame member 40, like the fixed frame 20, are conveniently formed by extruding an appropriate synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride to form an elongated frame member and appropriately cutting the frame member, and the pair of side frame members 36, the upper frame member 38, and the lower frame member 40 have the same cross-sectional shape. Both ends of the upper frame member 38 are welded to the upper ends of the pair of side frame members 36, and both ends of the lower frame member 40 are welded to the lower ends of the pair of side frame members 36. Each of the pair of side frame members 36, the upper frame member 38, and the lower frame member 40 shown in the figure has a mounting groove 42 located at the inner peripheral end and facing the outside of the room. The width of the opening end of the mounting groove 42 is set to be somewhat narrower than the width of the main part. The configuration of the pair of side frame members 36, upper frame member 38, and lower frame member 40 is also well-known and does not constitute a new feature of a building constructed in accordance with the present invention, and therefore a detailed description of the configuration of the pair of side frame members 36, upper frame member 38, and lower frame member 40 will be omitted.

In the building described above, the water-stopping member 2 is attached to a pair of side frame members 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32 that constitute the fixed frame 20, but instead, as illustrated in FIG. 7, the water-stopping member 2 can be fixed to a pair of side frame members 36, upper frame member 38, and lower frame member 40 that constitute the shoji frame 24. If desired, the water-stopping member 2 can be attached to the pair of side frame members 28, upper frame member 30, and lower frame member 32 that constitute the fixed frame 20, and the water-stopping member 2 can also be fixed to the pair of side frame members 36, upper frame member 38, and lower frame member 40 that constitute the shoji frame 24.

The above describes in detail the preferred embodiment of the water-stopping member constructed according to the present invention and the fittings to which it is attached, but the present invention is not limited to such an embodiment, and it goes without saying that various modifications and alterations are possible without departing from the scope of the present invention. For example, in the above-mentioned embodiment, the pair of side portions 14 and the front portion 16 of the water-stopping member 2 are continuously extended, but if desired, one of the pair of side portions 14 can be divided at an appropriate location. In a preferred embodiment, the dividing point (gap 44) is located at a position as shown in FIG. 8. In the modified example shown in FIG. 8, one side portion 14 is divided along a plane that is flush with the inner surface of the connecting portion 18, and a gap 44 is formed. When the shoji screen 22 (FIG. 3) is closed, it is preferable that the water-stopping member 2 is deformed and closed (i.e., the two end faces that define the gap 44 come into contact and the gap 44 disappears). Therefore, it is preferable that the width g of the gap 44 is about 0 to 1.5 mm. When the width g of the gap 44 is 0 mm, it means that both end faces that define the gap 44 are in contact. If the side portion 14 is divided at one point, excellent water-stopping properties can be maintained and the resistance value when closing the screen 22 (Figure 3) can be reduced.
