Description

The present invention relates to a document reading device.

As shown in Patent Document 1, a scanner device is known that includes a housing having an insertion port through which a medium is inserted and an ejection port through which the medium is ejected, a pair of transport rollers that transport the medium inserted through the insertion port, and a reading unit that reads the medium transported by the pair of transport rollers.

In the above-mentioned scanner device, when a long medium is set in the insertion port, the rear end of the medium hangs down behind the scanner device. In this state, in order to prevent the medium from falling due to its own weight, it is necessary to insert the medium into the insertion port while holding it down with fingers. However, when the medium is inserted while being held down with fingers, the medium is likely to be inserted into the insertion port in an oblique state, which causes an issue that the transportability of the medium is unstable.
There is also the issue that if a transport problem such as a jam occurs while the medium is being transported, and the nip between the transport rollers is released to clear the jam, the medium may fall behind the scanner device due to its own weight.

The document reading device includes an insertion port through which a document is inserted from the rear side of the device toward the front side of the device, a placement section provided on the top surface of the device from the insertion port to the rear end of the device and capable of placing the rear end of the document inserted into the insertion port, a reading section that reads the document inserted from the insertion port while transporting it toward the front side of the device, and a support member that is provided on the rear side of the rear side of the device main body and has a support surface that can support the rear end of the document inserted into the insertion port, and the support member supports the document at a lower position on the rear side than the placement section.

First, the configuration of the document reading device 1 will be described.
As shown in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, and FIG. 3, the document reading device 1 includes a main body 10 (corresponding to the device main body). The main body 10 includes a roll setting section 3 for setting a roll 90 on which a recording medium is wound, and a recording head 4 capable of forming an image by ejecting ink onto the recording medium. The main body 10 also includes a recording medium discharge port 13 for discharging the recording medium on which an image is formed by the recording head 4. A cover 37 is also provided to cover the roll setting section 3 on which the roll 90 is mounted. The cover 37 extends along the X-axis. The cover 37 includes an axis section along the X-axis, and is configured to be openable and closable around the axis section. By opening the cover 37, the roll setting section 3 is exposed, and the roll 90 can be set in the roll setting section 3. In the roll setting section 3, rolls 90 of various sizes, such as A4 size to A1 size, can be appropriately set.

The main body 10 is supported by legs 17 arranged at the bottom of the main body 10. The legs 17 include a base 19 and a support 18 standing on the base 19 to support the main body 10. In addition, below the main body 10, there is a collection section 15 that receives recording media and documents P discharged from the main body 10 side.

The document reading device 1 includes a scanner unit 5 that reads the document P. That is, the document reading device 1 of this embodiment has a configuration that can also be used as a recording device, and for example, has a configuration that can record an image read from the document P by the scanner unit 5 on a recording medium using the recording head 4. The scanner unit 5 is located at the top end of the main body 10 in the +Z direction and at the end in the +Y direction. The scanner unit 5 can read documents P of various sizes, for example, from A4 size to A1 size.

The scanner unit 5 includes an insertion opening 6 through which an original P to be read is inserted into the scanner unit 5, a reading unit 8, and an ejection opening 7 through which the original P read by the reading unit 8 is ejected. The original P inserted from the insertion opening 6 is transported by a transport roller pair 40 and reaches the ejection opening 7 via the reading unit 8.
In this embodiment, the document P is inserted into the insertion opening 6 from the -Y direction, which is the rear side of the document reading device 1, toward the +Y direction, which is the front side of the device. The document P inserted into the insertion opening 6 is then read by the reading unit 8 while being transported from the insertion opening 6 to the +Y direction, which is the front side of the device, and is then discharged from the discharge opening 7 provided at the end of the scanner unit 5 in the +Y direction.

The scanner unit 5 includes a cover section 2. The cover section 2 is configured to be openable and closable with respect to the main body section 10, based on a rotation axis 44 that extends along the X-axis. The rotation axis 44 is an axis parallel to the X-axis, and is provided at both the left and right ends (+X direction and -X direction) of the rear end of the cover section 2 in the -Y direction.

In this embodiment, a reading unit 8 is provided inside the cover unit 2 .
The reading unit 8 reads image information of the transported document P. The reading unit 8 in this embodiment is a contact optical type sensor (CIS: Contact Image Sensor). The reading unit 8 is a line type sensor, and includes a photosensor, a light source unit, a lens, and the like.

An operation panel 9 is disposed in the +Y direction, which is the front of the main body 10. In this embodiment, the operation panel 9 is disposed in the +X direction of the scanner unit 5. The operation panel 9 has a display panel, and is, for example, a panel capable of receiving input from a user, such as a touch panel. The operation panel 9 is also structured so that the inclination of the operation panel 9 can be adjusted (tilt adjustment).

The user performs tasks such as setting the document P while facing the +Y direction end of the document reading device 1, which is the front of the device. An operation panel 9 is located at the front of the device, making it easy to operate the document reading device 1. In addition, the discharge outlet 7 and recording medium discharge outlet 13 are located at the front of the device, making it easy to collect the document P that has been read and the recording medium on which an image has been formed.

The main body 10 of the document reading device 1 is provided from the insertion port 6 to the end 20 in the -Y direction at the rear of the device, and has a placement section 30 on which the rear end Pe side (see FIG. 7) of the document P inserted into the insertion port 6 can be placed. The area extending along the X axis from the insertion port 6 to the end 20 in the -Y direction is the placement section 30, which is the area 30A where the document P can be placed. In other words, the placement section 30 is the top surface of the main body 10 (the top surface of the device).

The insertion opening 6 is located at a higher position than the end 20. That is, the insertion opening 6 is located in the +Z direction from the end 20. And, between the insertion opening 6 and the end 20, no part above the insertion opening 6 is included. That is, from the insertion opening 6 to the end 20 of the placement section 30, for example, there is no convex part on the upper side. Therefore, when placing the document P on the placement section 30, there is nothing that obstructs the document P, and the document P can be easily set on the placement section 30.

The placement section 30 also has a first inclined surface 31 that slopes downward from the insertion opening 6 side toward the end 20. The first inclined surface 31 is provided in the middle portion between the insertion opening 6 and the end 20. The first inclined surface 31 is formed with the same width along the X-axis of the placement section 30. Furthermore, a second inclined surface 32 that is more inclined with respect to the horizontal plane than the first inclined surface 31 is formed near the end 20 in the -Y direction of the first inclined surface 31. The second inclined surface 32 slopes downward from the end of the first inclined surface 31 in the -Y direction toward the end 20. This improves the transportability of the document P, for example, compared to when the placement section 30 has a stepped configuration.

As shown in FIG. 4 , the placement unit 30 is provided with a guide 25 that indicates a reference reading position for the document P when the document P is set in the insertion port 6 .
In this embodiment, the guide 25 is disposed at the −X direction end of the insertion slot 6 extending along the X axis. A guide surface 25a is provided at the +X direction end of the guide 25. The guide surface 25a has a flat surface along the Y axis.
As a result, the document P can be easily positioned by bringing the widthwise end edge (the end edge on the -X direction side) of the document P into contact with the guide surface 25a.

The document reading device 1 is also provided with a support member 50. The support member 50 is disposed behind (in the -Y direction) the main body 10 of the document reading device 1. The support member 50 has a flat support surface 51, and supports the rear end Pe side of the document P inserted into the insertion port 6. The support member 50 is a plate-like member, and is molded, for example, from a plastic material. When the support member 50 is attached to the main body 10, a slit-shaped through hole 55 is formed from the bottom to the top of the support member 50 in the center of the support member 50 in the direction along the X axis. This reduces the weight of the support member 50. It also suppresses the generation of static electricity between the document P being supported and the support surface 51.

A rear side surface 21 is formed along the Z axis on the rear side of the main body 10 (-Y direction), and an attachment portion 28 is disposed on the rear side surface 21. The attachment portion 28 is attached to the rear side surface 21 at a position lower than the placement portion 30. A support member 50 is attached to the attachment portion 28. The support member 50 is disposed opposite the rear side surface 21.

As a result, for example, when reading a long document P, the rear end Pe of the document P is supported by the support member 50. Therefore, compared to a configuration in which the document P is transported while hanging down on the rear side of the main body 10, the rear end Pe of the document P is less likely to shake, the posture of the document P is stable, and transportability can be improved.
Furthermore, even when the cover 2 is opened and the conveying roller pair 40 is released from holding the document P, the document P is supported by the support member 50. This makes it possible to prevent the document P from falling off the document reading device 1.

As shown in Figures 3 and 5, a sloping portion 24 is formed at a lower corner of the rear side surface 21 of the main body portion 10, sloping toward the inside of the main body portion 10 with respect to the rear side surface 21. The sloping portion 24 has a flat sloping surface 24a. The mounting portion 28 is disposed on the sloping surface 24a of the sloping portion 24. The mounting portions 28 in this embodiment are, for example, cable clamps capable of clamping a distribution cable or the like, and two mounting portions 28 are provided along the X-axis. Then, as shown in Figures 6A and 6B, the lower end portion of the support member 50 is attached to the mounting portions 28.
Specifically, the support member 50 is formed with an attachment hole 57 for engaging with a part of the cable clamp which is the attachment portion 28. The attachment hole 57 is a hook-shaped notch, and has a first portion 57a and a second portion 57b which is smaller in area than the first portion 57a. The first portion 57a is sized to have an area into which a part of the cable clamp which is the attachment portion 28 can be inserted. The first portion 57a and the second portion 57b are formed continuously in the direction along the X-axis.
Then, as shown in FIG. 6A, the lower end of the support member 50 is supported by the lower protrusion of the cable clamp, and the upper protrusion of the cable clamp is inserted into the first portion 57a of the support member 50.
6B, the support member 50 is moved in the +X direction. This causes the position of the mounting hole 57 relative to the cable clamp to move, and the upper protrusion of the cable clamp engages with the second portion 57b. This makes it difficult for the support member 50 to come off the mounting portion 28.
When the support member 50 is attached to the attachment portion 28 , the support surface 51 of the support member 50 is disposed along the extending direction of the inclined surface 24 a of the inclined portion 24 .
The angle of the inclined surface 24a with respect to the horizontal plane is approximately 60°, and the angle θ between the rear side surface 21 and the support surface 51 is approximately 30°, which is an acute angle. This allows the document P to be reliably supported between the rear side surface 21 and the support surface 51.

Furthermore, the length dimension from the lower end of the support member 50 attached to the attachment portion 28 to the upper end 50a facing in the +Z direction can be appropriately set according to the shape of the document P to be supported.
In this embodiment, the upper end 50 a is located in the +Z direction further than the +Z direction end of the cover portion 2 .
The upper end 50a of the support member 50 may be configured to be located at a position lower than the height of the highest cover portion 2 of the entire document reading device 1. In this way, the height dimension of the entire document reading device 1 can be reduced.

In addition, the -Y direction position of the upper end 50a (rear end) of the support member 50 is positioned closer to the main body 10 than the -Y direction end position of the base 19 of the leg 17 (see FIG. 2). This makes it possible to reduce the depth dimension of the document reading device 1.

The width dimension of the support member 50 in the direction along the X-axis can be set as appropriate. In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 4, it is approximately half the size of the maximum width dimension of the document P that can be used with the document reading device 1. In this embodiment, the support member 50 is disposed on the side of the guide 25 that indicates the reading reference position of the document P, that is, on the -X direction side of the rear surface 21. This makes it possible to support various documents P with different width dimensions.

Next, the operation of reading the document P in the document reading device 1 will be described.
FIG. 7 illustrates a case where a long document P is read.
When a long document P is set in the document reading device 1 , the rear end Pe of the document P is hung down toward the rear side surface 21 of the main body 10 and the front end Pt of the document P is inserted into the insertion opening 6 .
At this time, the rear end Pe of the document P is held in a pinched state at the lower end E1 where the rear side surface 21 at the rear side of the device and the support surface 51 of the support member 50 face each other. Since the angle θ formed by the rear side surface 21 and the support member 50 is an acute angle, the rear end Pe of the document P is easily pinched at the lower end E1. This allows the document P to be supported in a stable state. For example, in a configuration in which the support member 50 is omitted, when the document P is inserted into the insertion port 6, the rear end Pe side of the document P hangs down toward the rear side surface 21, so that it is necessary to press the front end Pt side of the document P with a finger against the weight of the document P. On the other hand, in this embodiment, the rear end Pe of the document P is held at the lower end E1, so that the document P can be easily guided into the insertion port 6 without feeling the weight of the document P. Furthermore, since there is no need to hold down the tip Pt of the document P with fingers, there is no need for space near the insertion opening 6 of the loading section 30 of the document reading device 1 for holding down the document P with fingers, which increases the freedom of design for the main body section 10.

When a long document P is supported on the support member 50, the support member 50 is pressed by the document P. Due to the bending of the support member 50 itself, or the elasticity of the mounting portion 28, or the clearance between the mounting portion 28 and the support member 50, the support member 50 tilts downward relative to the position in which the support member 50 is unloaded, and the upper end 50a moves in the -Y direction.

The rear end Pe side of the document P is supported by following the support surface 51 of the support member 50. The front end Pt side of the document P is supported by following the first inclined surface 31 of the placement unit 30. The excess length of the long document P is curved upward from the upper end 50a side of the support member 50 to the main body unit 10 side, and the posture of the document P can be stabilized.
Furthermore, since the position of the rear end Pe of the document P is restricted by the lower end E1, a biasing force is generated on the document P toward the insertion opening 6, and the transportability of the document P can be improved.

Furthermore, in this embodiment, since the second inclined surface 32 is formed at the end of the main body 10 in the -Y direction, the rear end Pe of the original P can be made to hang down easily when the original P is set in the original reading device 1. Furthermore, as the reading and conveyance of the original P progresses and the rear end Pe of the original P is placed on the placement unit 30, the conveyance resistance is reduced, and the conveyance of the original P can be improved. Furthermore, since the end of the main body 10 in the -Y direction is not a corner, damage to the original P can be suppressed.
It should be noted that the −Y direction end of the main body 10 does not have to be the second inclined surface 32 .
For example, the mounting portion 30 may have a first inclined surface 31 that descends toward the rear of the device, a flat surface that is connected to the first inclined surface 31 and has a gentler slope than the first inclined surface 31, and a chamfered portion that is connected to the flat surface and is formed over the rear side surface 21. Even in this configuration, the same effect as described above can be obtained.

Next, another example of the reading operation of the document P in the document reading device 1 will be described.
FIG. 8 illustrates a case where a folded long document P is read.
When a folded long document P is set in the document reading device 1 , the rear end Pe of the document P is hung down toward the rear side surface 21 of the main body 10 and the front end Pt of the document P is inserted into the insertion slot 6 .
The rear end Pe of the document P is held at the lower end E1 where the rear side surface 21 and the support surface 51 of the support member 50 face each other. The rear end Pe side of the document P is supported by the support surface 51 in a folded state. This allows the document P to be easily guided to the insertion slot 6.

In addition, as the reading and transport of the original P proceeds, a portion of the original P is transported following the rear side surface 21. That is, because the rear side surface 21 is formed in the vertical direction (the direction along the Z axis), gravity acts on the original P, causing the folds of the original P to separate, and the original P does not slide upward in a bundled state; that is, the original P is prevented from being transported to the loading section 30 in a state where it is overlapped by the folds, and the original P can be transported in a stable position.

Next, in FIG. 9, a case will be described in which a long document P folded in the opposite direction to the example in FIG. 8 is read.
When the document P is set in the document reading device 1 , the rear end Pe of the document P is hung down toward the rear side surface 21 of the main body 10 , and the front end Pt of the document P is inserted into the insertion opening 6 .
9, the fold of the document P is held at the lower end E1 where the rear side surface 21 faces the support surface 51 of the support member 50. The rear end Pe side of the document P is supported by the support surface 51 in a folded state. This allows the document P to be easily guided to the insertion slot 6.

Next, a case where an original P that is wound in a roll shape is read will be described with reference to FIG.
When the original P is set in the original reading device 1, the leading end Pt of the original P is inserted into the insertion opening 6 while the wound and overlapped portion on the rear end Pe side of the original P is held between the rear side surface 21 and the support surface 51 of the support member 50. This allows the original P to be easily guided into the insertion opening 6. In addition, the rear side surface 21 and the support surface 51 restrict the releasing force that causes the wound and overlapped portion of the original P to spread outward. The original P is then transported while being sequentially unwound from the roll. This allows the original P to be transported in a stable posture.

Next, in FIG. 11, a case where the document P that is wound and stacked in the opposite direction to the example in FIG. 10 is read will be described.

Next, a case where a document transport auxiliary member 100 is used will be described with reference to FIG.
The document transport auxiliary member 100 is a carrier sheet for smoothly transporting the document P along the transport path of the scanner unit 5 when the image information of the document P is read by the reading section 8 of the document reading device 1 .

As shown in FIG. 13, the document transport auxiliary member 100 includes a cover sheet 111 that covers the first surface P1 of the document P that is to be read by the reading unit 8, and a support sheet 121 that covers the second surface P2 of the document P that is opposite the first surface P1, and is formed by adhering the cover sheet 111 and the support sheet 121 together.

The cover sheet 111 is a transparent PET sheet. The cover sheet 111 is a sheet that is larger than the maximum size of the document P that can be used in the document reading device 1. In other words, the cover sheet 111 is configured to be able to cover the entire surface of the document P. The support sheet 121 is an opaque PET sheet. The surface of the support sheet 121 on which the document P is placed is, for example, white. The support sheet 121 is the same size as the cover sheet 111. The document transport auxiliary member 100 has an adhesive portion 131 where the cover sheet 111 and the support sheet 121 are adhered.

Then, as shown in Figure 12, with the original P covered with the original transport auxiliary member 100, the rear end Pe of the original P is hung down toward the rear side surface 21 of the main body 10, and the adhesive portion 131 of the original transport auxiliary member 100 which is on the leading end Pt side of the original P is inserted into the insertion port 6.
The rear end Pe of the document P and the rear end of the document transport auxiliary member 100 are sandwiched and held at the lower end E1 where the rear side surface 21 and the support surface 51 of the support member 50 face each other. This makes it possible to easily guide the document transport auxiliary member 100 (document P) to the insertion opening 6.
Although the rear end of the document transport auxiliary member 100 is prone to curling, since it is clamped by the lower end portion E1, the curl can be straightened and the document can be held in a straightened state.

Next, the configuration of another supporting member 500 will be described.
In the above embodiment, the support member 50 is flat, but is not limited thereto. For example, as shown in Fig. 14, the support member 500 may be flexible and may have a configuration in which the center portion in the width direction intersecting with the transport direction of the document P has a downwardly convex curved shape when attached to the rear side surface 21 at the rear side of the device. In this case, the flat support member 500 is attached to the attachment portion 28 in a curved state. Since a through hole 55 is provided in the center portion of the support member 500, the curved shape can be easily formed.
Such a curved shape can increase the rigidity of the support member 500 against a load from above, making it possible to support a heavy document P. Furthermore, since the upper end side of the support member 500 can be easily deformed upward, the support member 500 of the document reading device 1 can be disposed so as to contact a wall or the like.

Next, the configuration of the other supporting member 501 will be described.
In the above embodiment, the attachment portion 28 is disposed on the inclined portion 24 below the rear side surface 21, but the present invention is not limited to this.
15 , the attachment portion 511 may be disposed on the rear end side of the top surface of the main body 10. The attachment portion 511 is a hook. The support member 501 is attached to the attachment portion 511.
The support member 501 has an extension portion 510 that extends from the position where it is attached to the mounting portion 511 along the rear side surface 21 to a position lower than the mounting portion 30, and the support surface 505 extends obliquely upward from a position of the extension portion 510 that is lower than the mounting portion 30. The connection portion between the extension portion 510 and the support surface 505 has a curved shape. The extension portion 510 and the support surface 505 form an acute angle.
A through hole is formed in the portion of the support member 501 that is to be attached to the attachment portion 511, and the attachment portion 511 is inserted into the through hole. In this way, the support member 501 is attached to the attachment portion 511.
The extending portion 510 of the supporting member 501 and the supporting surface 505 of the supporting member 501 sandwich and hold the rear end Pe of the original P at the lower end of the supporting member 501, which faces the extending portion 510 of the supporting member 501. In this manner, the original P can be transported in a stable position, similar to the above.

Next, the configuration of the other supporting member 520 will be described.
16, the attachment portion 522 may be disposed on the rear end side of the top surface of the main body 10. The attachment portion 522 is a hook-and-loop fastener. One of the attachment portions 522, a first fastener 522a, is adhered to the main body 10, and the other, a second fastener 522b, is adhered to the support member 520. The support member 520 is attached to the attachment portion 522 (first fastener 522a) by abutting the first fastener 522a and the second fastener 522b.
The support member 520 has an extension portion 530 that extends from the position where it is attached to the mounting portion 522 along the rear side surface 21 to a position lower than the mounting portion 30, and the support surface 525 extends obliquely upward from a position of the extension portion 530 that is lower than the mounting portion 30. The connection portion between the extension portion 530 and the support surface 525 has a bent shape. The extension portion 530 and the support surface 525 form an acute angle.
Then, the extending portion 530 of the support member 520 and the support surface 525 of the support member 520 sandwich and hold the rear end Pe of the document P at the lower end of the support member 520 that faces the extending portion 530. In this manner, the document P can be transported in a stable position in the same manner as described above.
