Description

The present invention relates to labels that are attached to the surface of various products, and in particular to labels that have handles.

One such label, as shown in Patent Document 1, is known in which part of the label attached to the surface of a container is folded up to form a handle, and the container is held by the handle, allowing the container to be tilted and the liquid inside to be poured out easily.

The present invention was made in response to this situation, and aims to provide a label that can be used effectively to carry products by forming a handle of the desired size without being restricted by the size, design, strength, etc. of the label.

In order to achieve the above objective, the present invention is configured as follows:

(1) The label according to the present invention comprises a label body that is attached to the outer surface of a product, and a strip-shaped handle material that is folded and stored on the back side of the label body, the label body has a break induction section that corresponds to the location where the label body is to be cut off, both ends of the handle material are connected to the back side of the label body on both sides of the break induction section, and the folded and stored handle material can be pulled outward from the label body that has been cut off by the break induction section.

The tear-off guide portion may be any portion that corresponds to the tear-off location of the label body, such as a perforation, notch, tab, printed cutting line, or a combination of these, formed at the tear-off location of the label body, and is preferably one that makes consumers who have purchased the product aware that this is the location where the label body should be torn off, and guides them to tear it off from that location.

According to the present invention, the label body is cut at the separation guide section that corresponds to the cut location, and the handle material that was folded on the back side is pulled out, forming a long handle that can be used to hang the product and carry it.

In this case, since the handle material is a separate component from the label body, the size, shape, or material of the handle material can be different from those of the label body, making it easy to set the size and strength of the handle formed by the pull-out as desired.

(2) In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the label body has an adhesive layer on its back surface for attachment to a product, and the end of the handle material is attached to a portion of the adhesive layer.

According to this embodiment, the handle material can be attached and connected using the adhesive layer for attachment to the product, and the handle material can be easily connected to the label body.

(3) In another embodiment of the present invention, the handle material is folded in three and stored to form an upper layer, a middle layer, and a lower layer.

In this embodiment, the length of each layer can be set to create a handle of the desired size.

(4) In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the label body has an adhesive layer on its back surface for attachment to a product, and the upper layer of the handle material that is folded in three and stored is attached to the adhesive layer so that the folded edge from the upper layer to the middle layer corresponds to the separation guide portion, and the lower layer of the handle material has an extended portion extending beyond the folded edge and attached to the adhesive layer.

In this embodiment, the label body is separated at the separation guide section, allowing the middle and lower layers of the folded handle material to be stretched and pulled out, forming a long handle with both ends of the separated label body connected by the handle material.

(5) In another embodiment of the present invention, the label body has the tear guide portion in its middle portion, and the tear guide portion of the label body is a perforation.

In this embodiment, the label body can be easily torn off at the perforation in the middle, and the handle material that is folded and stored on the back side of the label body can be pulled out.

(6) In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the label body has the break induction portion in its middle portion, and the break induction portion of the label body is a notch.

According to this embodiment, the label body can be easily cut along the notch in the middle and the handle material folded and stored on the back side of the label body can be pulled out.

(7) In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the label body has the separation guide portion in its middle portion, and the separation guide portion of the label body is a mark printed on the surface of the label body indicating the separation location.

According to this embodiment, the label body can be torn away according to the markings that indicate the tear-off location printed on the surface of the middle portion of the label body, such as the markings of the cutting line, and the handle material that is folded and stored on the back side of the label body can be pulled out.

(8) In one embodiment of the present invention, the label body is configured such that one end of each of the multiple label bodies overlaps and is bonded together so that the multiple label bodies are continuous along the longitudinal direction, and the portion where the overlapping one end portions are bonded together is peelable, and the bonded portion is the separation guide portion for separating each of the multiple label bodies.

In this embodiment, the label body is constructed by bonding multiple label bodies together so that one end of each overlaps, and since this bonded portion is peelable, the bonded portion can be used as a separation guide portion to separate the multiple label bodies, thereby allowing the handle material that was folded into the back side of the label body to be pulled out.

(9) In another embodiment of the present invention, the handle material is made of a transparent resin film.

In this embodiment, the folded transparent handle material can be folded and stored behind the label body without being noticeable, and the design and appearance of the label are not marred.

According to the present invention, there are few restrictions on the size, design, or strength of the label, and handles of the desired size can be formed, making it convenient to carry the product.

The following describes an embodiment of the present invention with reference to the drawings.

Figure 1 shows a rice bowl lunch box, such as an oyakodon or katsudon, sold at convenience stores, as an example of product A to which a label according to one embodiment of the present invention is affixed. Product A comprises a bowl-shaped container body 1 made of molded plastic material and a lid body 2 that fits over it. A label L according to one embodiment of the present invention is affixed to the top surface of the lid body 2 of product A and to the diagonal portions of the outer periphery of the container body 1, preventing the lid body 2 from coming off the container body 1.

Label L is cut into a strip and has, for example, the name and illustration of the contents of product A printed on its surface. In addition, if necessary, the ingredients used, the expiration date, the manufacturer and its location, a bar code showing various information for sales management, etc. are printed on it.

This product A is sold at convenience stores and may be heated in a microwave before being handed over to the consumer.

The label L attached to this product A is equipped with a handle so that, for example, consumers who do not have a bag or the like can easily carry the product.

The configuration is explained below.

Figure 4 is an exploded perspective view showing the configuration of label L, and Figure 5 is a schematic side view showing the configuration of label L.

The label L itself comprises a label body 4 made of paper with an adhesive layer 3 applied to the entire back surface, and a strip-shaped handle material 5 made of a transparent resin film folded and stored on the back surface.

The handle material 5 is folded multiple times, for example, in three, so that its overall length is shorter than the label body 4, and is attached to the back surface of the label body 4 so that the adhesive layer 3 at both ends of the back surface of the label body 4 is exposed.

In other words, the upper layer 5a of the handle material 5 folded in three is entirely attached to the adhesive layer 3 of the label body 4, while the lower layer 5c of the handle material 5 is attached to the adhesive layer 3 only at its extension portion 5c', which extends beyond the folded edge e from the upper layer 5a to the middle layer 5b.

The label L constructed in this manner is attached to the product A in an appropriate position via the two adhesive layers 3 exposed on the back side of both ends of the label body 4, with the handle material 5 folded and stored on the back side.

In the portion of the label body corresponding to the folded edge e from the upper layer 5a to the middle layer 5b of the handle material 5, a perforation m is formed in a straight line along the folded edge e as a separation guide portion corresponding to the separation point of the label body 4. In this embodiment, the folded edge e from the upper layer 5a to the middle layer 5b of the handle material 5 and the perforation m of the label body 4 are formed so that they match or nearly match up from top to bottom.

When a convenience store clerk selling product A or a consumer who has purchased product A cuts off the label body 4 along the perforation m and pulls it upward as shown in FIG. 2, the middle layer 5b and bottom layer 5c of the handle material 5 that was folded on the back side become exposed. As shown in FIG. 3, by pulling the exposed handle material portion upward, a long handle T is formed with both ends of the cut-off label body 4 connected by the handle material 5.

Therefore, a consumer who purchases product A can carry product A by simply cutting off label body 4 along perforation m and pulling out handle material 5 to form long handle T, without using a carry-out bag or the like.

In addition, even if product A purchased at a convenience store or the like has been heated in a microwave oven and is hot, it can be easily carried home using the long handle T.

This handle T is made of a handle material 5 that is a separate member from the label body 4, so its size, design, strength, etc. can be set without being restricted by the size, design, strength, etc. of the label body 4.

For users of the labels L, such as product manufacturers, the labels are supplied as a continuous roll of labels with many labels L attached to a release paper, and the labels L are peeled off from the release paper using a label attachment machine or the like and attached to the product.

[Other embodiments]
The present invention can also be implemented in the following forms.

(1) In the above embodiment, the label L is attached to a single product. However, the label L may be attached to any product other than a single product. For example, the label L may be attached to the top surface of a product such as multiple tissue paper boxes stacked and packaged in film.

(2) The material of the label body 4 is not limited to paper, but may be resin. For example, a notch 10 as shown in FIG. 6 may be formed in the label body 4 to facilitate separation. In this case, instead of the perforation m in the above embodiment, the notch 10 can be used as a separation guide portion corresponding to the separation location of the label body 4, and the label body 4 can be separated along the notch 10. Note that the perforation m may be formed together with the notch 10.

(3) The material of the handle material 5 is not limited to transparent resin film, but can be selected from any material such as paper or resin-coated paper. The width and shape of the handle material 5 can also be selected as desired, and the handle material 5 can be printed with various designs and colors.

(4) Two labels L can be attached to the left and right outer surfaces of a product, and the product can be held down using the two handles on the left and right that are folded out from each label.

Alternatively, a single label L may have two break guide sections formed in two locations corresponding to the left and right outer surfaces of the product, and the handle material 5 may be folded into each break guide section and stored in place, allowing the two break guide sections in one label L to be cut off, and the two handles folded out from each cut-off location to be used.

(5) As shown in FIG. 7, by forming parallel perforations m at the portion of the label body 4 that is to be cut and allowing the cut piece 6 to be cut through both perforations m, a cutting guide section that makes it easier to cut the label body 4 can be formed. However, in this case, it is necessary to leave the adhesive layer 3 on the back surface of the cut piece 6 as shown in the schematic side view of FIG. 8.

In another embodiment, instead of the tear-off piece 6, for example, a mark indicating the separation location, such as a cutting line for separation, may be printed on the surface of the label body 4, so that a consumer who purchases the product can cut the label body 4 with scissors or the like according to the mark that serves as a separation guide. In this case, as with the tear-off piece 6, no adhesive layer is provided on the back side of the mark indicating the separation location. Note that perforations, notches, etc. may be formed together with the mark indicating the separation location.

(6) The breakage induction portion formed in the label body 4 is not limited to a perforation or a notch. For example, the breakage induction portion can be configured by attaching and holding a cutting thread along the breakage portion on an adhesive layer provided on the back surface of the label body 4, with the end of the cutting thread protruding from the side end of the label body, and pulling the label body along the breakage portion with the protruding end of the cutting thread.
(7) As shown in FIG. 9, two three-fold portions having a common lower layer 5c are formed in the handle material 5 in opposing butt positions, and the upper layer 5a of each three-fold portion is attached and connected to the adhesive layer 3 of the label body 4, thereby forming a long and large handle.

(8) The label body may be made of a plurality of label bodies, for example, two label bodies, each having one end thereof peelably bonded together, and the bonded portion may be used as a separation guide portion for separating the two label bodies.

FIG. 10 is a plan view of a label L in which one end portions 4 ₁ a and 4 ₂ a of two such label bodies 4 ₁ and 4 ₂ are overlapped and peelably attached, and FIG. 11 is a schematic side view thereof.

In the label L of this embodiment, one label body 4 is formed by peelably attaching one end _41a of one label body ₄₁ to the upper surface of one end _42a of the other label body ₄₂ via a release agent and an adhesive layer 3' (not shown). The two label bodies ₄₁ , ₄₂ are attached to each other at their end portions _41a , _42a so as to be continuous along the longitudinal direction of the label body 4. A tab _42b is formed in the center of the end portion 42a of the other _upper label body ₄₂ to separate it from the attached portion.

An adhesive layer 3, 3 is formed on the lower surface of each of the label bodies 4 ₁ , 4 ₂ , except for the overlapping portions where the two label bodies 4 ₁ , 4 ₂ are separated.

According to this embodiment, the other attached label body ₄₂ is peeled off from one end _41a of one label body ₄₁ by holding the tab _42b at one end _42a of the other label body 42, thereby separating one label body 4 consisting of both label bodies ₄₁ , _42, exposing the middle layer 5b and lower layer 5c of the handle material 5 that was folded onto the back side of one label body ₄₁ , and by pulling out the exposed handle material portion upward, a long handle is formed by connecting each of the separated label bodies ₄₁ , ₄₂ with the handle material 5.

A mark indicating the cut-off position may be printed on one end _42a of the other label body _42. In this case, the tab _42b may be omitted.
