Description

The present invention relates to a product registration device and a program.

There is known an electronic cash register that changes the display mode of the screen showing registered products depending on whether an operation is performed to specify whether the purchase format is eat-in or take-out (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

It would be desirable to perform accounting operations efficiently according to differences in purchasing formats.

The present invention was made in light of these circumstances, and aims to enable accounting operations to be carried out efficiently according to differences in purchasing formats.

One aspect of the present invention for solving the above-mentioned problems is a product registration device that includes a product registration means for performing a product registration process to register a product, a purchase format selection means for selecting a purchase format for the product, and a display control means for changing the display mode of an operation screen, the necessity of which varies depending on the purchase format, based on the purchase format selected by the purchase format selection means for the product registered by the product registration means.

First Embodiment
[Example of POS system configuration]
Fig. 1 is a network configuration diagram of a POS (Point Of Sales) system according to an embodiment of the present invention. The POS system 1 shown in Fig. 1 includes three POS terminals 20-1, 20-2, and 20-3, a store controller 10, and a management device 30, all of which are communicatively connected via a LAN 11. Hereinafter, when there is no particular need to distinguish between the POS terminals 20-1, 20-2, and 20-3, they will be collectively referred to as the POS terminal 20.

The POS system 1 can be installed in a variety of stores, but the following explanation uses an example in which the POS system 1 is installed in a convenience store.

The store controller 10 is installed, for example, in the back yard of a store, and stores product master data and the like. The product master data is information in which product information for each product sold in the store is registered. For example, when performing product registration processing, the POS terminal 20 uses information such as the product name and price of the product registered using the product master data.

The management device 30 stores, for example, transaction results for the POS terminal 20. The management device 30 may also execute control to realize specific functions of the POS terminal 20 and the store controller 10. The management device 30 may be installed in the store, or may be provided as a cloud server outside the store.

Figure 2 shows an example of the installation of the POS terminal 20. Figure 2(A) is an oblique view of the POS terminal 20, etc., as seen from the customer side. Figure 2(B) is an oblique view of the POS terminal 20, etc., as seen from the store clerk side. As shown in Figure 2(A), a counter is placed to the right of the POS terminal 20 as seen from the customer side.

Figure 3 is a diagram showing an example of the appearance of a POS terminal. Figure 3(A) is an oblique view of the POS terminal 20 as seen from the customer side. Below, an example of the configuration of the POS terminal 20 shown in FIG. 4 will be described with reference to FIG. 3. The POS terminal 20 comprises a CPU 201, a ROM 202, a RAM 203, a hard disk 204, a customer display unit 205, a customer scanner unit 206, a card reader 208, a change dispenser 209, a store clerk display unit 210, a key operation unit 211, a store clerk scanner unit 212, a printing unit 213, an audio output unit 214, and a communication unit 215. These can communicate with each other via a bus.

The CPU 201 is a central processing unit that controls the operation of the POS terminal 20 by reading and executing programs stored in the ROM 202 .
The ROM 202 is a read-only memory, and stores various types of information used by the CPU 201, including programs.

RAM 203 is a read/write memory that stores various information. For example, RAM 203 stores information acquired from the outside (e.g., product master data acquired from store controller 10) and information generated during processing (e.g., registration information generated during registration processing, settlement information generated during settlement processing, etc.). In the following description, either or both of the registration information and settlement information may be referred to as transaction information.

The hard disk 204 stores various information. For example, the hard disk 204 may store programs executed by the CPU 201 instead of the ROM 202. Furthermore, the hard disk 204 may store information acquired from the outside and information generated during processing instead of the RAM 203.
Instead of the hard disk 204, a storage device such as an SSD (Solid State Drive) may be provided.

The customer-side display unit 205 is a touch display for customers, which displays various information to customers and accepts various inputs from customers.
The customer-side scanner unit 206 is a scanner unit for use by customers, and optically reads, for example, bar codes (product codes, etc.) attached to products.

The customer-side scanner unit 206 is used when a customer registers an item, but the customer may register the item using other methods. For example, if an order button for the item is displayed on the customer-side display unit 205, the customer can operate (press) the order button to register the item.

The card reader 208 is capable of reading information from various cards (credit cards, transportation cards, etc.) and executing processing corresponding to payment. The card reader 208 is also capable of reading information from membership cards, point cards, etc. The card reader 208 of this embodiment may include, for example, a card recognition unit (reading unit), a display unit, and an operation unit, but it is sufficient that it includes at least a card recognition unit.

The change dispenser 209 (cash settlement unit) is a cash settlement mechanism that has an input port for banknotes and coins and an output port for banknotes and coins, calculates the amount of money inserted into the input port, calculates the change amount, which is the difference between the input amount and the purchase amount, and dispenses the change from the output port.

The store clerk's display unit 210 is a touch display for the store clerk, which displays various information to the store clerk and receives various inputs from the store clerk.
The key operation unit 211 is made up of various keys (buttons) and receives various inputs from the store clerk.
The store clerk scanner unit 212 is a scanner unit for use by the store clerk, and optically reads, for example, bar codes (product codes, etc.) attached to products and store clerk codes attached to the name tags of store clerks.

The clerk-side scanner unit 212 is used when the clerk registers an item, but the clerk may register the item using other methods. For example, if a key corresponding to the item (such as a key corresponding to a sports newspaper) is located on the key operation unit 211, the clerk can operate (press) that key to register the item. Also, if a preset key corresponding to the item is displayed on the clerk-side display unit 210, the clerk can operate that preset key to register the item.

The printing unit 213 is a printing unit that ejects media, and prints and issues various media such as receipts. The printing unit 213 is a single printing unit that can be freely rotated to face from the store clerk side to the customer side, and vice versa (the direction of the media issuing port). The orientation of the printing unit 213 may be changed manually, or may be changed automatically (mechanically controlled, etc.) in response to, for example, a transition in operating mode. The correctness of the orientation of the printing unit 213 may be detected by a sensor or the like.

The audio output unit 214 outputs audio. For example, the audio output unit 214 outputs audio guidance and the like.
The communication unit 215 transmits and receives information to and from other devices (other POS terminals 20, store controller 10).

[Overview of each operation mode]
Next, the operation modes of the POS terminal 20 will be described. The POS terminal 20 has a plurality of operation modes. Specifically, the POS terminal 20 has four operation modes (normal mode, full self-service mode, double scan mode, and semi-self-service mode). Note that the operation modes described below are operation modes related to accounting during normal business (operation modes related to product registration processing and settlement processing), and do not include a counting mode for counting and inquiring sales and inventory, a maintenance mode for when a store clerk or maintenance staff performs setting work or maintenance work, a training mode for when a new employee is trained, etc.
In this embodiment, the concept of "accounting" includes, for example, the process from product registration in one transaction to settlement (payment) of the registered product.
In the following description, as a separate aspect from the classification of the four operating modes described above, the mode in which the POS terminal 20 executes the product registration process may be referred to as the registration mode, and the mode in which the POS terminal 20 executes the settlement process may be referred to as the settlement mode.

[Normal mode]
The normal mode is an operation mode in which the clerk executes the registration process and the customer executes the settlement process. That is, in the normal mode, the clerk is in the registration mode and the customer is in the settlement mode. In other words, the POS terminal 20 operates in the registration and settlement mode from the overall process from registration to settlement.

In normal mode, the store clerk registers the purchased items of the customer on the store clerk side (store clerk scanner unit 212, store clerk display unit 210, key operation unit 211). In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the registration process of the purchased items by the operation of the store clerk (operation of the store clerk scanner unit 212, store clerk display unit 210, key operation unit 211, etc.).

When the store clerk has completed the registration process, the customer checks the total amount of the purchased items on the store clerk display unit 210, and settles the bill by inserting coins into the change dispenser 209 or operating the card reader 208. In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the settlement process based on the customer's operation (inserting coins into the change dispenser 209, operating the card reader 208).

The customer may wait until the registration process is completed by the store clerk (until the total amount is confirmed), but may also insert coins into the change dispenser 209 before the registration process is completed. In other words, the POS terminal 20 can accept deposits during the registration process.

The store clerk may wait until the customer has completed the payment (until the customer has received their change and receipt), but may also register the items purchased by the next customer. In other words, the POS terminal 20 can register the items purchased by the next customer while the payment process is in progress. The store clerk may also be absent while the customer is paying. In other words, the store clerk may finish serving the customer while the customer is paying.

When there is change, the POS terminal 20 controls the dispenser 209 to dispense the change and change tag to prevent the customer from forgetting to take the change, and controls the printing unit 213 to issue a receipt after a sensor or other device detects that the customer has removed the change and change tag. The same applies to other operation modes. As described above, in normal mode (as well as double scan mode), there may or may not be a store clerk in front of the customer receiving the change. If a store clerk is present, the above-mentioned control does not necessarily have to be performed (i.e., the dispense of change and change tag and the issuance of a receipt may be performed simultaneously, or the receipt may be issued first). In addition, the timing of the dispense of change and change tag and the issuance of a receipt may be controlled depending on the current operation mode and the presence/absence of a store clerk (for example, the presence/absence of a store clerk is recognized by a sensor).

[Full Selfie Mode]
The full self-service mode is an operation mode in which the customer executes the registration process and the settlement process. That is, in the full self-service mode, the customer is in both the registration mode and the settlement mode. In other words, the POS terminal 20 operates in the registration and settlement mode from the overall process from the registration process to the settlement process.

In the full self-service mode, the customer registers the purchased items on the customer side (customer side scanner unit 206, customer side display unit 205). In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the registration process of the purchased items through the customer's operation (scanning with the customer side scanner unit 206, touching the customer side display unit 205).

When the registration process is complete, the customer checks the total amount of the purchased items on the customer display unit 205 and settles the bill by inserting coins into the change dispenser 209 or operating the card reader 208 in the case of credit card payment. In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the settlement process according to the customer's operation (inserting coins into the change dispenser 209, operating the card reader 208).

As described above, in the full self-service mode, the customer performs both the registration process and the settlement process, but this does not mean that the store clerk cannot do anything. In other words, even when the POS terminal 20 is operating in the full self-service mode, the store clerk code can be scanned by the store clerk scanner unit 212. Also, even when the POS terminal 20 is operating in the full self-service mode, various information can be displayed on the store clerk display unit 210.
For example, during operation in the full self-service mode, the clerk display unit 210 may display a screen similar to that displayed on the customer display unit 205 in accordance with the registration process and settlement process being performed on the customer side. In other words, the clerk display unit 210 may display a screen that is mirrored from the content displayed on the customer display unit 205. This allows the clerk to know what operations the customer is performing and the processing status of the POS terminal 20 in the full self-service mode.

[Double scan mode]
The double scan mode is an operation mode in which the registration process is performed on both the clerk side and the customer side, and the settlement process is performed on the customer side. That is, in the double scan mode, both the clerk side and the customer side are in registration mode, and the customer side is in settlement mode. In other words, the POS terminal 20 operates in the registration and settlement mode when viewed from the entire process from registration to settlement.

In double scan mode, the clerk registers the purchased items on the clerk side (clerk scanner 212, clerk display 210, key operation unit 211), and the customer registers the purchased items on the customer side (customer scanner 206, customer display 205). In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the registration process of the purchased items through operations by the clerk (scanning with the clerk scanner 212, touching the clerk display 210, pressing the key operation unit 211, etc.) and operations by the customer (scanning with the customer scanner 206, touching the customer display 205).

When the registration process is complete, the customer checks the total amount of the purchased items on the customer display unit 205 and settles the bill by inserting coins into the change dispenser 209 or operating the card reader 208 in the case of credit card payment. In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the settlement process according to the customer's operation (inserting coins into the change dispenser 209, operating the card reader 208).

The store clerk may wait until the customer has completed the payment (until the customer has received their change and receipt), but may also register the items purchased by the next customer. In other words, the POS terminal 20 can register the items purchased by the next customer while the payment is being processed. The store clerk may also be absent while the customer is paying. In other words, the store clerk may finish serving the customer while the customer is paying.

[Semi-selfie mode]
The semi-self-service mode is an operation mode for two or more POS terminals 20, in which the registration process is performed by the store clerk at at least one POS terminal 20, and the settlement process is performed by the customer at another POS terminal 20. That is, in the semi-self-service mode, one or more POS terminals 20 are in a registration-only mode, and the other one or more POS terminals 20 are in a settlement-only mode.

In the semi-self-service mode, the store clerk registers the purchased items of the customer on the store clerk side (store clerk scanner unit 212, store clerk display unit 210, key operation unit 211) of the POS terminal 20 in the registration-only mode. In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the registration process of the purchased items by the operation of the store clerk (operation of the store clerk scanner unit 212, store clerk display unit 210, key operation unit 211, etc.).

When the store clerk has completed the registration process, the customer moves to the POS terminal 20 in settlement-only mode, checks the total amount of the purchased items on the store clerk display unit 210, and settles the payment by inserting coins into the change dispenser 209 or operating the card reader 208. In other words, the POS terminal 20 executes the settlement process according to the customer's operation (inserting coins into the change dispenser 209, operating the card reader 208).

When the registration process is completed on the POS terminal 20 in the registration-only mode, the customer moves from the POS terminal 20 in the registration-only mode to the POS terminal 20 in the settlement-only mode, and the information required for the settlement process (such as the registration information generated on the POS terminal 20 in the registration-only mode) is provided to the POS terminal 20 to which the customer has been moved.

The destination POS terminal 20 (the POS terminal 20 in the settlement-only mode that executes the settlement process) may be specified by the POS terminal 20 in the registration-only mode. Alternatively, a medium (a medium on which a barcode or the like for obtaining information required for the settlement process is printed) may be issued by the POS terminal 20 in the registration-only mode, and the POS terminal 20 in the settlement-only mode that reads the medium may be set as the destination POS terminal 20.

In the semi-self-service mode, after the store clerk has sent the registration information, he or she can register the next customer's purchase. Also, after the store clerk has sent the registration information, the store clerk may not be present.

[Accounting Procedure]
Among the products sold by the store corresponding to this embodiment are products for which either eat-in or take-out can be selected as the purchase format (purchase format selectable products). When take-out is selected for such purchase format selectable products, a reduced consumption tax rate is applied to the product.
In addition, in a store according to this embodiment, customers who desire plastic bags are required to purchase them for a fee.

In a store that corresponds to this embodiment, a POS terminal 20 that is set to full self-service mode is installed. In the POS terminal 20 that is set to full self-service mode, when making a payment, a customer performs an operation to specify (select) whether the product to be registered is for eat-in or take-out, and an operation to specify whether or not to purchase a shopping bag.

An example of a transaction operation procedure performed by a customer using a POS terminal 20 in the full self-service mode will now be described with reference to FIGS.
When using the POS terminal 20 in the full self-service mode to make a transaction, the customer first performs a product registration operation to register each product that he or she wishes to purchase. The POS terminal 20 executes a product registration process in response to the product registration operation. During product registration, the POS terminal 20 displays a product registration screen on the customer display unit 205 while the product is being registered and the product registration operation is available.

Figure 5 shows an example of a product registration screen. The product registration screen in the figure includes a registration information area AR11, a registered product area AR12, and a payment transition instruction button BT11.

The registration guidance area AR11 is an area where guidance regarding product registration is given to customers. In addition, in the registration guidance area AR11, messages, images, etc. are displayed to guide customers to perform product registration operations by having the customer-side scanner unit 206 read a barcode (which may be another code such as a two-dimensional code, for example) attached to the product to be registered.
Furthermore, the registration guidance area AR11 in the same figure includes an item designation button area AR111 in which an item designation button is located for designating the first item as an operation for registering a product to be registered (button-using registration operation) when the product to be registered does not have a barcode attached.
In response to the operation of the item designation button, for example, a list of products corresponding to the operated item is displayed, and the customer can register the product by selecting the product to be registered from the displayed list.

The registered product area AR12 is an area where information about products that have been registered up to now is presented. In the registered product area AR12 in the figure, a list item for each registered product, the number of registered products (registered points), and the total price of the registered products are displayed.

The checkout transition instruction button BT11 is a button used to issue a checkout transition instruction operation. The checkout transition instruction operation is an operation that instructs the user to complete product registration and move on to checkout. When the customer has finished registering all of the products that he or she wishes to purchase, he or she operates the checkout transition instruction button BT11.

In response to the operation of the payment transition instruction button BT11, the POS terminal 20 in this case executes a shopping bag registration process as a preliminary process before moving on to payment. The shopping bag registration process is a process corresponding to the purchase (registration) of a shopping bag for which a fee has been charged. Therefore, in response to the operation of the payment transition instruction button BT11, the POS terminal 20 in this case displays a shopping bag registration screen on the customer side display unit 205. The shopping bag registration screen is a screen where operations related to registration (shopping bag registration) in response to the purchase of a shopping bag (plastic bag) are performed.

6 shows an example of a shopping bag registration screen. In the shopping bag registration screen of the same figure, a registration operation area AR21 and a payment transition instruction button BT21 are arranged.
The registration operation area AR21 is an area where customers can perform operations related to registering shopping bags. In the example shown in the figure, the registration operation area AR21 has plus and minus buttons arranged for each of the three sizes of shopping bags (plastic bags), "large,""medium," and "small," allowing customers to specify the number of bags to be registered (purchased). The registration operation area AR21 in the figure also shows the total price for the registered shopping bag.

In the initial display state of the shopping bag registration screen, the number of registered bags for each of the three sizes "large", "medium", and "small" in the registration operation area AR21 is "0". When a customer purchases shopping bags, they operate the registration operation area AR21 according to the size and number of shopping bags they need, and specify the number of shopping bags of any one or more of the three sizes "large", "medium", and "small" to be registered. After registering the shopping bags they need in this way, the customer operates the checkout transition instruction button BT21.

Stores that correspond to this embodiment sell products that can be purchased in a selectable format. At the previous product registration stage, even if the registered products include products that can be purchased in a selectable format, no designation (selection) is made as to whether the product is for eat-in or take-out, and the price is set with the reduced tax rate applied, assuming that take-out is provisionally designated.

In this case, if the registered products include a product for which a purchase format has been selected, the POS terminal 20 executes a purchase format confirmation process as a preliminary process before proceeding to the checkout process in response to the operation of the checkout transition instruction button BT21.

The purchase format confirmation process is a process that responds to confirmation as to whether the purchase format selected products included in the registered products are to be purchased as eat-in or take-out. In the purchase format confirmation process, the POS terminal 20 first displays an eat-in confirmation screen on the customer display unit 205 to confirm whether or not there are any products that are eligible for eat-in.

Figure 7 shows an example of an eat-in confirmation screen WD31. The eat-in confirmation screen WD31 in the figure shows an example in the form of a pop-up window that is displayed superimposed on the displayed product registration screen after the shopping bag registration screen in Figure 6 is cleared and the display is returned to the product registration screen.

The eat-in confirmation screen WD31 displays a message to confirm whether or not there is any product that should be registered as an eat-in product (eat-in target product) for the customer to eat in the store among the products registered in the current transaction. In addition, a "Yes" button BT31 and a "No" button BT32 are arranged on the eat-in confirmation screen WD31.
The customer operates a "Yes" button BT31 if there is an eat-in eligible product among the registered purchase format selected products, and operates a "No" button BT32 if there is no eat-in eligible product.

When the "Yes" button BT31 is operated, the POS terminal 20 continues to display the eat-in product selection screen as the purchase format confirmation process.
8 shows an example of the eat-in target product selection screen. The eat-in target product selection screen in the figure includes a registered product list area AR41, a total area AR42, and a payment transition instruction button BT41.

A list of registered products is displayed in the registered product list area AR41. Among the registered products, check boxes CB are provided next to the list items of products that correspond to the purchase format selection products.
The total area AR42 is an area that displays information about the total of the products to be registered that are displayed in the registered product list area AR41. In the figure, the number of registered products and the total price of the products to be registered are displayed.

In this case, the customer is trying to purchase the product in the first list item shown in the registered product list area AR41 for eat-in. Therefore, the customer in this case touches the check box CB of the first list item in the registered product list area AR41.

In response to an operation of touching the check box CB, an eat-in designation confirmation screen WD51 is displayed.
9 shows an example of an eat-in designation confirmation screen WD51. The eat-in designation confirmation screen WD51 in the figure shows an example in the form of a pop-up window superimposed on the eat-in target product selection screen.
The eat-in selection confirmation screen WD51 is a screen for confirming with the customer whether or not to designate the purchase format selected product for which the check box CB has been touched as an eat-in eligible product. A "Yes" button BT51 and a "No" button BT52 are arranged on the eat-in selection confirmation screen WD51.
If the customer wishes to designate the purchase-format-selected product for which the customer touched the check box CB as an eat-in eligible product, the customer operates the "Yes" button BT51. On the other hand, if the customer, for example, touches the check box CB by mistake without intending to designate the product as an eat-in eligible product, or touches the check box CB but decides not to designate the product as an eat-in eligible product, the customer operates the "No" button BT52.

In response to the operation of the "Yes" button BT51 or the "No" button BT52, the eat-in specification confirmation screen WD51 is cleared and an eat-in target product selection screen is displayed.
FIG. 10 shows an example of an eat-in target product selection screen displayed in response to operation of the "Yes" button BT51.
In the eat-in target product selection screen in the figure, a check is displayed in the check box CB of the list item in the first row shown in the registered product list area AR41. This indicates that the product corresponding to the list item in the first row has been designated as an eat-in target. In addition, since the product corresponding to the list item in the first row has been designated as an eat-in target, the reduced tax rate is no longer applied to that product. Therefore, the POS terminal 20 recalculates the total amount including tax and reflects the recalculation result in the total amount in the total area AR42. Specifically, the total amount in the total area AR42 was 228 yen before the product corresponding to the list item in the first row was designated as an eat-in target, but after the designation, it has been changed to 230 yen as shown in the figure.

When the "No" button BT52 is pressed, the check box CB of the first list item in the registered product list area AR41 is not checked on the eat-in product selection screen. The total amount in the total area AR42 is also 228 yen, the same as before the eat-in selection confirmation screen WD51 was displayed.

By looking at the eat-in target product selection screen in FIG. 10, the customer can confirm that the corresponding product has been designated as an eat-in target product according to the operation performed by the customer on the check box CB. The customer then operates the payment transition instruction button BT41 on the eat-in target product selection screen in the same figure.

When the payment transition instruction button BT41 is operated, the registration of the shopping bag and the selection of the eat-in items have been completed. When the payment transition instruction button BT41 is operated, the POS terminal 20 transitions to the payment process and displays a payment type selection screen on the customer display unit 205. The payment type selection screen is the payment screen corresponding to the payment process, and is the screen on which the operation to select the payment type is performed.

An example of a payment type selection screen is shown in Fig. 11. The payment type selection screen in Fig. 11 displays the total amount and also displays a message to guide the customer to select a payment method (payment type).
The payment type selection screen in the figure also shows an example in which payment type selection buttons BT61 (BT61-1, BT61-2) are arranged. The payment type selection button BT61-1 is a button that is operated when selecting cash payment as the payment type. The payment type selection button BT61-2 is a button that is operated when selecting credit card payment as the payment type.
When making a payment by cash, the customer operates the payment type selection button BT61-1, and when making a payment by credit card, the customer operates the payment type selection button BT61-2. The POS terminal 20 displays the next settlement screen corresponding to the payment type specified by the operated payment type selection button BT61, and executes the settlement process according to the customer's operation.

In addition, when the "No" button BT32 is operated while the eat-in confirmation screen WD31 in FIG. 7 is displayed, all of the registered products for which the purchase format has been selected may be designated as take-out, and the display may transition to the payment type selection screen (FIG. 11). In this case, the total amount displayed on the payment type selection screen will be calculated by applying the reduced tax rate to all of the registered products for which the purchase format has been selected.

Note that, for example, the POS terminal 20 may be capable of handling only a single payment type, such as only cash payments or only credit card payments. In such cases, the POS terminal 20 may start the payment process by displaying a payment screen in a format that corresponds to the supported payment type, without first displaying a payment type selection screen as the payment screen.

Second Embodiment
In the checkout procedure of the first embodiment described above, as shown by the transition from Figure 5 to Figure 6, when product registration is completed and a checkout instruction operation (operation of the checkout instruction button BT11) is performed, the screen transitions to a shopping bag registration screen. In this case, if the customer does not need a shopping bag, they can simply operate the checkout instruction button BT21 with the number of registered shopping bags of all sizes set to "0" without performing any operation in the registration operation area AR21, and erase the shopping bag registration screen.

However, for example, there is a possibility that all of the products purchased by a customer are selectable purchase items and are eat-in eligible items. In such a case, all of the products purchased by the customer are consumed within the store and are not taken outside the store. In this case, it can be said that the customer does not need a shopping bag.

In the checkout procedure in the first embodiment, even if all the products purchased by the customer are eat-in items and a shopping bag is not required as described above, the shopping bag registration screen is always displayed because of the transition from Figure 5 to Figure 6. Therefore, the customer needs to operate the payment transition instruction button BT21 to erase the displayed shopping bag registration screen. In such a case, it is preferable to prevent the shopping bag registration screen from being displayed, thereby eliminating unnecessary operation steps for the customer and improving the efficiency of the checkout procedure.
Therefore, in this embodiment, the checkout procedure described below is used so that if all the products purchased by the customer are eat-in eligible products, operation on the shopping bag registration screen is omitted.

In this embodiment, a customer first registers an item using the POS terminal 20 in the full self-service mode. At this time, the POS terminal 20 displays the item registration screen (FIG. 5) on the customer-side display unit 205.
When the customer has finished registering all the products to be purchased, he/she operates the payment instruction button BT11 on the product registration screen. In response to the operation of the payment instruction button BT11, the POS terminal 20 of this embodiment displays the eat-in confirmation screen WD31 (FIG. 7) on the customer side display unit 205.
In this case, all the products registered by the customer will be purchased for eating in. Therefore, the customer operates the "Yes" button BT31 as an operation on the displayed eat-in confirmation screen WD31.

When the "No" button BT32 on the eat-in confirmation screen WD31 is operated, the eat-in confirmation screen WD31 may be cleared and the shopping bag registration screen (Figure 6) may be displayed.

When the "Yes" button BT31 is operated, the POS terminal 20 displays the eat-in eligible product selection screen (Figure 8). In this case, all products registered by the customer are purchase format selection products that can be eaten in. For this reason, although not shown in the figure, check boxes CB are arranged for each list item of registered products in the registered product list area AR41 of the eat-in eligible product selection screen.

In this case, the customer will purchase all registered products for eating in, so the customer will repeat the operations shown in Figures 8 to 10 for each of the list items in the registered product list area AR41. That is, the customer touches the check box CB of one of the list items in the registered product list area AR41 to display the eat-in designation confirmation screen WD51, and then operates the "Yes" button BT51 on the displayed eat-in designation confirmation screen WD51, causing the check box CB that was operated to be checked. This procedure is repeated for each registered product.

In this case, the customer can transition to the operation for payment without performing any operation on the shopping bag registration screen.
On the other hand, if the payment button BT41 is operated and any registered products are not designated as eat-in items, the POS terminal 20 displays the shopping bag registration screen at this stage. If the customer needs a shopping bag, the customer operates the registration operation area AR21 on the shopping bag registration screen to specify the size of the shopping bag required and the number to be registered, and then operates the payment button BT21.
On the other hand, if the customer does not need a shopping bag, he or she operates the payment screen button BT21 without performing any operation in the registration operation area AR21 on the shopping bag registration screen. With this type of checkout procedure, if a customer specifies all items as eat-in items, the screen will move to the checkout screen without displaying the shopping bag registration screen. In this case, the customer does not need to perform any additional operations, making the checkout procedure more efficient.

An example of a processing procedure executed by a POS terminal 20 in full self-service mode in this embodiment in response to a transaction will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG.
Step S101: First, the POS terminal 20 determines whether or not a product registration operation has been performed during product registration. The product registration operation is an operation of having the customer-side scanner unit 206 read a barcode attached to a product, or a button usage registration operation.

Step S102: When a product registration operation is performed, the POS terminal 20 executes product registration processing in accordance with the product registration operation.

[Modification of the second embodiment]
In the above-described checkout procedure in this embodiment, after a customer has completed product registration of all products to be purchased, the customer selects the products to be eaten in from among the registered products for which a purchase format has been selected.
As a variation of this embodiment, in the product registration stage, in the process of a customer registering products to be purchased, each time a product registration operation is performed for a purchase format selected product, an operation may be performed to specify whether or not the product to be registered by the product registration operation is to be an eat-in product. In this case, the POS terminal 20 performs an eat-in confirmation process for the registered product in response to each product registration. Then, in response to the completion of product registration for all products and the operation of the payment transition instruction button BT11 on the product registration screen, the POS terminal 20 determines whether or not all registered products are designated as eat-in products.
If the registered products include products that are not designated as eat-in items, the POS terminal 20 displays a shopping bag registration screen, accepts the customer's shopping bag registration operation, and then displays a checkout screen (e.g., a checkout screen that starts from the payment type selection screen (FIG. 11)) and executes the checkout process. On the other hand, if all registered products are designated as eat-in items, the POS terminal 20 may transition to displaying the checkout screen without displaying the shopping bag registration screen, and execute the checkout process.

Third Embodiment
Next, a third embodiment will be described. In the second embodiment, the checkout procedure involves performing an eat-in confirmation process after product registration. Alternatively, in a modified version of the second embodiment, each time a product is registered in the product registration stage, an eat-in confirmation process is performed for the product to be registered.

In contrast, in the third embodiment, a customer first performs an operation to declare whether or not all registered products are designated as eat-in products (eat-in product declaration operation). In this case, the POS terminal 20, although not shown in the figure, first displays an eat-in product declaration screen at the start of a transaction. The eat-in product declaration screen is a screen that can accept an eat-in product declaration operation.
Although not shown in the figure, the eat-in target declaration screen may be displayed, for example, on an initial product registration screen in which the product registration results have not yet been reflected, in a manner similar to the eat-in confirmation screen WD31 (Figure 7).

An example of a process executed by the POS terminal 20 in this embodiment in response to a transaction will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG.
Step S201: In a standby state, the POS terminal 20 determines whether or not a trigger for canceling the standby state (a standby state cancel trigger) has occurred. Step S204: The POS terminal 20 accepts an eat-in target declaration operation performed by the customer on the displayed eat-in target declaration screen. As described above, the eat-in target declaration operation is either a positive declaration operation or a negative restriction operation. In this case, the POS terminal 20 stores whether the accepted eat-in target declaration operation was a positive declaration operation or a negative declaration operation.
Step S205: In response to the eat-in item declaration operation, the POS terminal 20 erases the eat-in item declaration screen. With the eat-in item declaration screen erased, the product registration screen is displayed in an active state, and product registration becomes possible thereafter.

The processing in steps S206 to S208 may be similar to steps S101 to S103 in FIG. 12.

Step S209: When it is determined in step S208 that a payment transfer instruction operation has been performed, the POS terminal 20 determines whether the eat-in eligible declaration operation previously received in step S204 was a positive declaration operation.

Step S210: If it is determined in step S209 that the eat-in eligible declaration operation received in step S204 is a negative declaration operation rather than a positive declaration operation, the POS terminal 20 further determines whether the products currently registered include a product for which a purchase format has been selected.

Step S211: If it is determined in step S210 that the selected purchase format product is included, the POS terminal 20 executes an eat-in confirmation process. In this manner, the POS terminal 20 of the present embodiment changes the screen to be displayed next upon completion of the product registration process depending on whether or not all products have been designated as eat-in eligible products by the previous eat-in eligible product declaration operation.
In other words, if a negative declaration operation was performed as the previous eat-in eligible declaration operation, and if the registered products further include a purchase-selected product, it has not yet been specified whether the purchase-selected product is eligible for eat-in. In this case, the POS terminal 20 displays an eat-in eligible product selection screen and accepts the customer's operation to specify whether the registered purchase-selected product is eligible for eat-in. Once this operation is completed, the POS terminal 20 displays a shopping bag registration screen and accepts the customer's operation to register a shopping bag. After the shopping bag registration operation has been performed, the POS terminal 20 displays a checkout screen and executes the checkout process.

In addition, even if all registered products are designated as eat-in items by the eat-in item declaration operation, the POS terminal 20 will display the checkout screen without displaying the shopping bag registration screen.

In this way, even in this embodiment, if a customer specifies that all items to be purchased are available for eating in, the checkout procedure can be such that the shopping bag registration operation on the shopping bag registration screen is omitted.

In restaurants that have ticket vending machines, customers almost always eat all of the products they purchase inside the restaurant. In this case, if the POS terminal 20 of this embodiment allows customers to select whether or not to designate all products for purchase as items for eat-in use before the products are registered, customers will almost always select the items for eat-in use. Therefore, if the POS terminal 20 of this embodiment is applied to such ticket vending machines, customers can designate all products they purchase for eat-in use in one go, effectively improving operational efficiency.

In each of the above embodiments, when all registered products are designated as eat-in items, the shopping bag registration screen is not displayed, thereby eliminating the need to register a shopping bag.

A product registration means for performing a product registration process for registering a product;
a shopping bag registration means for displaying a shopping bag registration screen on which a shopping bag can be registered in response to completion of the product registration process, thereby making it possible to accept registration of a shopping bag;
an eat-in confirmation means for accepting confirmation of the presence or absence of a purchase format selected product for which eat-in is selected after displaying the shopping bag registration screen;
an eat-in designation means for accepting designation of an item to be eaten in from among the registered purchased items when it is confirmed by the eat-in confirmation means that there is an item for which eat-in is selected as a purchase format selected item;
a payment screen transition means for, when it is confirmed by the eat-in confirmation means that there is a purchase format selected commodity for which eat-in is selected, transitioning to a screen corresponding to payment after the eat-in designation means accepts the designation of the commodity to be eaten in, and, when it is confirmed by the eat-in confirmation means that there is no purchase format selected commodity for which eat-in is selected, transitioning to a screen corresponding to payment without accepting the designation of the commodity to be eaten in by the eat-in designation means;
