Description

The present invention relates to a water-soluble cutting oil, a water-soluble cutting oil management device, and a water-soluble cutting oil management method.

One method of maintaining the cutting ability of tool blades of machine tools is to spray water-soluble cutting oil on the tool blades to cool, lubricate, and prevent rust between the blades and the workpiece, and to remove cutting chips. This sprayed water-soluble cutting oil is collected and reused, but as the cutting oil is used, the concentration and/or volume of the cutting oil changes, for example as the water in the cutting oil evaporates, making it difficult to adjust the lubrication performance of the water-soluble cutting oil. Therefore, a water-soluble cutting oil management device has been proposed that measures the concentration and/or volume of the water-soluble cutting oil and makes it easier to adjust the concentration and/or volume. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a water-soluble cutting oil management device that measures the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil, supplies water when the concentration is high, and supplies undiluted water-soluble cutting oil when the concentration is low.

The water on-off valve 154 is a valve provided in the water supply passage 152. The water on-off valve 154 opens and closes the flow path of water flowing through the water supply passage 152 to supply water from the water supply source 151 to the mixing tank 140 or stop the supply of water.

The stock solution supply unit 160 supplies the stock solution of the water-soluble cutting oil to the mixing tank 140. The stock solution supply unit 160 includes a stock solution tank 161 in which the stock solution is stored, a stock solution supply path 162 which serves as a flow path for the stock solution, a third pump 163 which draws the stock solution, a stock solution flowmeter 164 which measures the flow rate of the stock solution, and a stock solution on-off valve 165 which opens and closes the flow path for the stock solution. The stock solution tank 161 is a tank which stores the stock solution. The stock solution supply path 162 forms a flow path between the stock solution tank 161 and the mixing tank 140. One end of the stock solution supply path 162 opens near the ceiling of the mixing tank 140.

The third pump 163 is provided in the concentrate supply line 162 and pumps the concentrate of water-soluble cutting oil stored in the concentrate tank 161 into the mixing tank 140.

The concentrate flow meter 164 is provided in the concentrate supply passage 162 and is a flow meter that measures the flow rate of the water-soluble cutting oil concentrate flowing through the concentrate supply passage 162.

The stock solution on-off valve 165 is a valve provided in the stock solution supply passage 162. The stock solution supply passage 162 opens and closes the flow path of the stock solution flowing through the stock solution supply passage 162 to supply the stock solution of the water-soluble cutting oil from the stock solution tank 161 to the mixing tank 140 or to stop the supply of the stock solution.

The stirring unit 170 is a motor-driven stirrer that is provided in the mixing tank 140 and stirs the water supplied to the mixing tank 140 and the water-soluble cutting oil concentrate supplied to the mixing tank 140.

Each part of the water-soluble cutting oil management device 1 described above is controlled by the control unit 200. The control unit 200 can be used to input the management concentration.

The administrator of the water-soluble cutting oil management device 1 can set the management concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil and the concentrations of low-concentration and/or high-concentration corrected concentration cutting oil in the control unit 200. The administrator can also select water and/or undiluted water-soluble cutting oil as the low-concentration and/or high-concentration corrected concentration cutting oil.

First, the control unit 200 drives the first pump 12 to suck the water-soluble cutting oil from the coolant tank 400 through the cutting oil outlet pipe 11 in order to measure the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil.

The sucked water-soluble cutting oil then passes through a foreign matter removal filter 20 installed on the cutting oil outlet pipe 11, and foreign matter such as sludge and chips in the water-soluble cutting oil are removed.

The water-soluble cutting oil from which foreign matter has been removed then passes through an oil removal filter 30 installed on the cutting oil outlet pipe 11, and non-emulsified oils such as hydraulic oil and sliding oil in the water-soluble cutting oil are removed.

The water-soluble cutting oil from which foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil has been removed passes through the first pump 12 and is then pumped into the cutting oil discharge pipe 13.

The concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil sent to the cutting oil discharge pipe 13 is measured by the concentration sensor 40 on the cutting oil discharge pipe 13.

A concentration meter cannot accurately measure the concentration if foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil is present. However, the water-soluble cutting oil whose concentration is measured by the concentration sensor 40 has had foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil removed, allowing for more accurate concentration measurements.

The concentration sensor 40 transmits the measured concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil to the control unit 200. The water-soluble cutting oil whose concentration has been measured is then discharged into the coolant tank 400. The water-soluble cutting oil passing through the first pump 12 has had foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil removed by the foreign matter removal filter 20 and the oil removal filter 30, so clogging of the first pump 12 can be suppressed. The control unit 200 then stops the first pump 12.

Next, the control unit 200 determines whether the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil measured by the concentration sensor 40 is within the range of the controlled concentration. If the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil is within the set range, the control unit 200 further determines whether the amount of water-soluble cutting oil measured by the level gauge 50 is sufficient. Then, if the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil is within the set range and the amount of water-soluble cutting oil is sufficient, the process ends.

When the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil measured by the concentration sensor 40 is higher than the control concentration, the adjustment unit 100 prepares a low-concentration correction concentration cutting oil set by the blending unit 130 and stores it in the mixing tank 140 of the blending unit 130. When the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil measured by the concentration sensor 40 is lower than the control concentration, the control unit 200 prepares a high-concentration correction concentration cutting oil set by the blending unit 130 and stores it in the mixing tank 140. Furthermore, when the amount of water-soluble cutting oil measured by the level gauge 50 is low, the control unit 200 prepares a correction concentration cutting oil of the control concentration and stores it in the mixing tank 140. The correction concentration cutting oil is prepared according to the following procedure.

First, water is supplied to the mixing tank 140 by the water supply unit 150 of the blending unit 130. Specifically, the control unit 200 opens the water on-off valve 154 and supplies water from the water supply source 151 to the mixing tank 140 via the water supply path 152.

The water flow meter 153 measures the amount of water supplied from the water supply source 151 to the mixing tank 140. The water flow meter 153 then transmits data on the measured amount of water to the control unit 200. When the amount of water measured by the water flow meter 153 reaches a fixed amount, the control unit 200 closes the water on-off valve 154 and stops the supply of water from the water supply source 151 to the mixing tank 140.

Next, the concentrate supply unit 160 of the blending unit 130 supplies the concentrate of water-soluble cutting oil to the mixing tank 140. Specifically, first, the control unit 200 reads the amount of concentrate of water-soluble cutting oil required to blend the corrected concentration cutting oil of the set concentration.

Then, the control unit 200 drives the third pump 163 of the stock solution supply unit 160 and opens the stock solution on-off valve 165. The third pump 163 sucks the stock solution of the water-soluble cutting oil in the stock solution tank 161 and sends the stock solution to the mixing tank 140 via the stock solution supply path 162. The stock solution sent to the mixing tank 140 is dripped into the water stored in the mixing tank 140.

Furthermore, while the concentrate is being dripped into the water in the mixing tank 140, the control unit 200 drives the stirring unit 170 to stir the concentrate and water. Because the concentrate is dripped into the tank filled with water and the water level is constant, the concentrate does not adhere to the wall of the mixing tank, and the stirring unit 170 can stir the concentrate and water so that they are mixed evenly.

The concentrate flow meter 164 measures the amount of concentrate of water-soluble cutting oil supplied from the concentrate tank 161 to the mixing tank 140. The concentrate flow meter 164 then transmits the measured data to the control unit 200. When the amount of concentrate measured by the concentrate flow meter 164 reaches the amount of concentrate read from the control program, the control unit 200 closes the concentrate on-off valve 165 and stops the supply of concentrate from the concentrate tank 161 to the mixing tank 140.

Finally, the control unit 200 drives the second pump 120 of the adjustment unit 100 to pump the corrected concentration cutting oil stored in the mixing tank 140 to the coolant tank 400 via the corrected concentration cutting oil supply pipe 110. Because the corrected concentration cutting oil is pumped by the second pump 120, the water-soluble cutting oil management device 1 can supply the corrected concentration cutting oil regardless of the height or position of the coolant tank 400.

The pressure-fed corrected concentration cutting oil creates convection in the coolant tank 400, making it easier to mix with the water-soluble cutting oil stored in the coolant tank 400 before the corrected concentration cutting oil is supplied, making the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil in the coolant tank 400 uniform.

As described above, the water-soluble cutting oil management device 1 can perform more accurate concentration measurement of water-soluble cutting oil by removing foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil.

For example, the water-soluble cutting oil management device 1 can manage the water-soluble cutting oil by mixing it with a correction concentration cutting oil having a higher concentration than the specified concentration when the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil is lower than the specified concentration range, and/or by mixing it with a correction concentration cutting oil having a lower concentration than the specified concentration when the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil is higher than the specified concentration range, thereby making it possible to maintain the water-soluble cutting oil concentration within the specified range (managing the water-soluble cutting oil concentration).

Conventionally, the concentration of water-soluble cutting oil was adjusted by supplying the stock solution or water directly to the coolant tank 400 or the pipes through which the water-soluble cutting oil flows. As a result, the mixing of the water-soluble cutting oil with the stock solution and water was left to natural convection, which caused the problem of the water-soluble cutting oil having an uneven concentration. The corrected concentration cutting oil of this embodiment is already a uniform mixture of stock solution and water, so it is easy to mix with the water-soluble cutting oil stored in the coolant tank 400 before the corrected concentration cutting oil is supplied. As a result, the water-soluble cutting oil management device 1 can make the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil uniform.

Embodiment 2.
In the above-mentioned embodiment 1, only the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil was measured. The water-soluble cutting oil management device may further measure the pH of the water-soluble cutting oil. As the pH value of the water-soluble cutting oil decreases as deterioration progresses, the deterioration of the water-soluble cutting oil can be detected by measuring the pH value of the water-soluble cutting oil.

As shown in FIG. 2, the water-soluble cutting oil management device 2 according to the second embodiment of the present invention may further include a pH meter 300 provided in the cutting oil discharge pipe 13.

The pH meter 300 is provided on the cutting oil discharge pipe 13 between the concentration sensor 40 and the coolant tank 400. The pH meter 300 includes a pH measurement tank 301 provided on the cutting oil discharge pipe 13, a comparison electrode 302 immersed in the water-soluble cutting oil, a glass electrode 303 immersed in a solution of pH 7, and an alarm 304 that issues a warning. The comparison electrode 302 and the glass electrode 303 are provided in the pH measurement tank 301.

The pH measurement tank 301 temporarily stores the water-soluble cutting oil flowing through the cutting oil discharge pipe 13. The comparison electrode 302 is immersed in the water-soluble cutting oil in the pH measurement tank 301. The pH meter 300 measures the pH using the electromotive force generated between the comparison electrode 302 and the glass electrode 303. The alarm 304 is an alarm that sounds an alarm when an abnormality occurs in the pH of the water-soluble cutting oil.

Next, we will explain the operation of the water-soluble cutting oil management device 2.

When setting the control concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil and the concentration of the corrected concentration cutting oil, the administrator of the water-soluble cutting oil management device 2 can also set the pH range of the water-soluble cutting oil.

The control unit 200 drives the first pump 12 to suck the water-soluble cutting oil in the coolant tank 400 through the cutting oil outlet pipe 11. The sucked water-soluble cutting oil is then subjected to removal of foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil by the foreign matter removal filter 20 and the oil removal filter 30. The concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil from which the foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil has been removed is measured by the concentration sensor 40. The concentration sensor 40 then transmits the measured concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil to the control unit 200.

The pH of the water-soluble cutting oil measured by the concentration sensor 40 is measured by the pH meter 300. Specifically, the water-soluble cutting oil is temporarily stored in the pH measurement tank 301 of the pH meter 300. Then, a comparison electrode 302 is immersed in the water-soluble cutting oil in the pH measurement tank 301, and the pH is measured using the electromotive force generated between the comparison electrode 302 and the glass electrode 303.

The comparison electrode 302 of the pH meter 300 is susceptible to deterioration and damage when it comes into contact with foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil. However, the water-soluble cutting oil passing through the cutting oil discharge pipe 13 has foreign matter and/or non-emulsified oil removed, so the life of the comparison electrode 302 can be extended.

The pH meter 300 transmits the measured pH of the water-soluble cutting oil to the control unit 200. The water-soluble cutting oil whose pH has been measured is then discharged into the coolant tank 400 through the cutting oil discharge pipe 13. The control unit 200 then stops the first pump 12.

If the pH of the water-soluble cutting oil measured by the pH meter 300 is outside the set pH range of the water-soluble cutting oil, the control unit 200 causes the alarm 304 of the pH meter 300 to emit a warning sound.

When the concentration of the water-soluble cutting oil measured by the concentration sensor 40 is not within the range of the control concentration, or when the amount of water-soluble cutting oil measured by the level gauge 50 is low, the control unit 200 causes the blending unit 130 of the adjustment unit 100 to blend a correction concentration cutting oil and stores it in the mixing tank 140 of the blending unit 130.

First, the control unit 200 commands the water on-off valve 154 to open, and water is supplied from the water supply source 151 to the mixing tank 140 via the water supply line 152. Then, when the amount of water measured by the water flow meter 153 reaches a fixed amount, the control unit 200 commands the water on-off valve 154 to close, and the supply of water from the water supply source 151 to the mixing tank 140 is stopped.

Then, the control unit 200 drives the third pump 163 of the stock solution supply unit 160 and opens the stock solution on-off valve 165. The third pump 163 sends the water-soluble cutting oil stock solution in the stock solution tank 161 through the stock solution supply path 162 to the mixing tank 140, where it is dripped. Furthermore, the control unit 200 drives the stirring unit 170 to stir the stock solution and water.

When the amount of concentrate measured by the concentrate flow meter 164 reaches the amount of concentrate read from the control program, the control unit 200 closes the concentrate on-off valve 165 and stops the supply of concentrate from the concentrate tank 161 to the mixing tank 140.
