Description

The present invention relates to a mat that is placed around the gas burner of a gas range.

2. Description of the Related Art The top plate of a gas range is prone to becoming dirty due to food scraps, oil and seasonings splashing about, and broth boiling over during cooking, so various mats for gas ranges have been devised to cover the top plate.
When the top plate is covered with a gas range mat, dirt adheres to the gas range mat, making the top plate itself less likely to get dirty. Also, dirt on the gas range mat can be wiped off relatively easily.

One such mat for a gas range is known from Patent Document 1, which consists of a donut-shaped sheet body having an opening for inserting a gas burner for the gas range and a number of opening auxiliary lines, such as perforations, formed concentrically with the opening.
The gas range mat of Patent Document 1 can be installed around gas burners of various outer diameters by cutting the opening auxiliary lines and adjusting the size of the opening.

In addition, a burner ring is installed around the gas burner on the top plate, and a mat for a gas range has also been developed that is configured to cover the area around the gas burner and beyond the outer periphery of the burner ring, as disclosed in Patent Document 2.
Specifically, there is a step between the outer periphery of the burner ring and the top plate, and the gas range mat of Patent Document 2 consists of an inner periphery that has an opening for inserting a gas burner and covers the burner ring, an outer periphery that covers the top plate outward from the step, and a step portion that connects the inner periphery and outer periphery with a height difference equivalent to the height of the step.
Since the inner peripheral portion is in appropriate contact with the burner ring and the outer peripheral portion is in appropriate contact with the top plate, it is possible to cover a wide area from the burner ring to the top plate, thereby making it possible to prevent the area from becoming dirty.

However, in both of the gas range mats in Patent Documents 1 and 2, the opening diameter is set to be considerably larger than the outer diameter of the gas burner so that the gas burner can be easily inserted, and therefore the area near the inner circumference of the burner ring, which is located inside the opening, may become dirty due to overflow during cooking.

In conventional gas ranges, the parts surrounding the gas burner were removable, so if the burner ring became dirty it could be removed and cleaned, and if the dirt could not be removed even after cleaning, it was possible to replace only the burner ring.
However, in recent years, an increasing number of gas ranges have been designed with peripheral parts such as burner rings that cannot be removed in order to make them easier to clean. In such cases, if dirt cannot be removed even after cleaning, the entire gas range must be replaced.
Therefore, it can be said that the demand for preventing contamination of burner rings has increased in recent years.

In this regard, it is possible to narrow the opening of the gas range mat to prevent dirt from getting near the inner circumference of the burner ring, but an ignition plug (electrode) and a safety device (flame detection sensor) to prevent the flame from going out are provided on the outer periphery of the gas burner and near the inner circumference of the burner ring.
Therefore, simply narrowing the opening could cause the mat to interfere with the ignition plug and the safety device to prevent the flame from going out, which could interfere with the ignition of the gas burner or the operation of the safety device, and could result in a fire or other accident.

The problem to be solved by this invention is to prevent the burner rings of a gas range mat from becoming dirty during cooking without interfering with the operation of the spark plug or safety device to prevent the flame from going out.

In order to solve the above problems, the gas range mat of the present invention is configured to include a mat body capable of covering a burner ring installed around a gas burner on the top plate of a gas range, an opening formed in the mat body and having a diameter substantially the same as the outer diameter of the gas burner through which the gas burner can be inserted, and an intended insertion portion formed in the mat body contiguous with the opening and partitioned by slits, lines or perforations that can be bent or cut to allow the insertion of an ignition plug and a safety device to prevent the flame from going out that are attached to the periphery of the gas burner.

By configuring the gas range mat of the present invention in this manner, it is possible for the mat body to cover almost the entire burner ring, thereby preventing the burner ring from becoming soiled during cooking.
In particular, since the opening through which the gas burner can be inserted has approximately the same diameter as the gas burner, it is possible to sufficiently prevent contamination due to overflow during cooking, even in the vicinity of the inner circumference of the burner ring.
Here, the opening having approximately the same diameter as the gas burner means that the opening diameter is the same as or slightly larger than the outer diameter of the gas burner. Slightly larger means that there is only a gap in the vicinity of the inner circumference of the burner ring that is sufficient to prevent dirt caused by overflow during cooking, and specifically, it means that the opening diameter is at most a few mm larger than the outer diameter of the gas burner.

In addition, the gas range mat of the invention has insertion sections that are defined by slits, lines, or perforations, so that when installing the mat, the areas corresponding to the ignition plug or the safety device to prevent the flame from going out can be folded or cut away so that the main body of the mat does not interfere with the ignition plug or the safety device to prevent the flame from going out, and so there is no disruption to their operation.
In addition, the intended insertion portion may be provided in multiple portions so that the ignition plug and the safety device for preventing flameout are inserted separately when bent or cut, or it may be provided in a single portion so that they are inserted together.

In the gas range mat of the invention, it is preferable that the mat body has the slits extending radially from the outer periphery of the opening, flaps are defined between adjacent slits, and the flaps arranged in parallel in the circumferential direction of the opening constitute the intended insertion portion that can be folded back toward the outer diameter of the opening.

There are various arrangement patterns for spark plugs and safety devices to prevent the flame from going out, depending on the gas range manufacturer, the size of the gas burner, etc., but by folding back the flaps to match each pattern, one gas range mat can be used for various types of gas ranges.

In the gas range mat of the present invention, it is preferable to adopt a configuration in which the burner ring further includes a mark at a position corresponding to the fitting projection and recess provided for alignment with the gas range.

When the burner ring is covered with the mat, the mat's fitting ridges become invisible, making it difficult to fit the trivet over it, but by providing a mark at a position corresponding to the mat's fitting ridges, the position of the burner ring's fitting ridges can be confirmed from above the mat. This makes it easy to fit the fitting ridges together.
The mark may be a print, a hole, a notch, a transparent portion, etc., but a hole is more preferable because it is easy to form and the fitting concave-convex portion can be directly viewed through the hole.

In the gas range mat of the present invention, it is preferable that the marks are provided in multiple locations around the circumference of the mat body so that the mat can be aligned with the mats of different arrangement patterns and numbers.

The mating projections and recesses of the burner rings and trivets come in a variety of arrangement patterns and numbers depending on the gas range manufacturer, but by providing marks so that all of these multiple patterns can be aligned, one gas range mat can be used for a variety of gas ranges.

In the gas range mat of the present invention, it is preferable that the mat body has a circular top plate that rests on the burner ring and a skirt portion that hangs down from the outer periphery of the top plate by a height equivalent to the difference in height between the burner ring and the top plate.

By roughly matching the shape of the mat body to the shape of the burner ring, it becomes easier to cover the burner ring, and it is possible to further prevent broth and other liquids from adhering to the burner ring.

In the gas range mat of the present invention, it is preferable that the main mat body further has a edging portion on the outer periphery of the skirt portion.

When configured in this way, the edging section stops any broth or other liquid that boils over and runs down the mat body, preventing it from flowing out from the outer periphery of the mat body onto the top plate and soiling the top plate.

The gas range mat of the invention is constructed as described above, so it is possible to prevent the burner ring from becoming dirty during cooking without interfering with the operation of the spark plug or safety device to prevent the flame from going out.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
The gas range mat 1 of the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 5 is installed so as to cover the burner ring 52 located around the gas burner 51 on the top plate of the gas range 50, as shown in Figures 1 to 4, and prevents the burner ring 52 from becoming dirty due to food scraps, oil or seasonings scattering, or broth boiling over during cooking.

As shown in FIG. 5, the gas range mat 1 of the embodiment includes a mat body 10 formed by press molding a metal foil such as an aluminum foil.
The thickness of the metal foil is not particularly limited, but is preferably 30 to 50 μm. If the thickness exceeds 50 μm, the edges of the openings 20 described below are likely to cut the hands, and if the thickness is less than 30 μm, it is difficult to mold the mat body 10.
The mat body 10 is made up of a circular top plate 11, a skirt portion 12 hanging down from the periphery of the top plate 11, and an upwardly curled edge portion 13 formed on the periphery of the skirt portion 12, and has an overall shape resembling an upside-down shallow dish. The skirt portion 12 is provided with a flange 12a.

The outer diameter of the top plate 11 of the mat body 10 is set to be approximately equal to or slightly larger than the outer diameter of the burner ring 52 of the gas range 50, and the height of the skirt part 12 is set to be approximately equal to or slightly larger than the protruding height of the burner ring 52 from the top plate.
1 to 4, when the mat body 10 is placed on the burner ring 52, it covers almost the entire burner ring 52. This prevents the burner ring 52 from becoming dirty.

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 , when the mat body 10 is installed, the flange 12 a and the edge wrapping portion 13 attached to the skirt portion 12 are positioned on the top plate 53 outside the burner ring 52 .
Even if the broth or the like adhering to the top plate 11 flows down from the outer edge of the top plate 11, it is received by the flange 12a, so that the top plate 53 is prevented from getting dirty.
Even if the broth or the like that has flowed down the flange 12a attempts to flow out from the top of the mat body 10, it is blocked by the rolled edge portion 13, preventing the spread of dirt. The rolled edge portion 13 also contributes to preventing injuries to fingers.

5, a circular opening 20 is formed in the center of the top plate 11 of the mat body 10. The opening 20 is formed by punching with a Thompson blade or the like.
The diameter of the opening 20 is set to be approximately equal to or slightly larger than the outer diameter of the gas burner of the gas range, and as shown in Figures 1 to 4, when the mat body 10 is installed, a gas burner 51 is inserted into this opening 20. Here, the gas burner 51 is equipped with a temperature sensor 51a that protrudes upward from the center, and is covered with a burner cap 51b.
Since there is almost no gap between the opening 20 and the gas burner 51, dirt caused by overflow during cooking is prevented from adhering to the vicinity of the inner periphery of the burner ring 52 through the gap.

5, a large number of slits 31 extending in the outer diameter direction of the opening 20 are formed radially from the edge of the opening 20 in the top plate 11 of the mat body 10. The slits 31 are formed by punching with a Thompson blade or the like.
The space between adjacent notches 31 is defined as a flap 30 serving as a portion to be inserted. The flaps 30 are arranged in parallel in the circumferential direction of the opening 20.
The flap 30 extends in the outer radial direction of the opening 20, has a constant width in the circumferential direction of the opening 20, and has an overall rectangular shape. The flap 30 has a substantially uniform length in the radial direction and a substantially uniform width in the circumferential direction. The flap 30 can be folded back.
As shown in Figures 1 to 4, when the mat body 10 is installed, an ignition plug 51c and a safety device 51d for preventing the flame from going out are inserted into the folded-back portion of the flap 30, which is attached to the outer base of the gas burner 51 so as to face the flame port.
This prevents the mat body 10 from hitting or covering the ignition plug 51c or the safety device 51d for preventing flame-out and interfering with the same, thereby preventing any hindrance to the operation of the ignition plug 51c or the safety device 51d for preventing flame-out.

The folding pattern of the flap 30 is made to match the arrangement pattern of the ignition plug 51c and the safety device 51d for preventing the flame from going out in a typical gas range 50 available on the market.
That is, as shown in FIG. 6, there are several different arrangement patterns for the ignition plug 51c and the safety device 51d for preventing the flame from going out in a typical gas range 50, and in any of these arrangement patterns, the position and number of the folded-back flaps 30 are selected so that both the ignition plug 51c and the safety device 51d for preventing the flame from going out pass through the mat body 10.
This makes it possible for one gas range mat 1 to be used for a variety of gas ranges 50.

5, a hole 40 is formed as a marker near the outer periphery of the top plate 11 of the mat body 10. The hole 40 is not continuous with the opening 20 and the notch 30.
The holes 40 are rectangular, and a plurality of them are arranged in parallel in a predetermined pattern in the circumferential direction of the top plate 11 .
In a gas range 50, the burner ring 52 and the trivet 54 for supporting pots and pans have mating projections 52a, 54a for aligning them with each other, and by aligning the hole 40 with the mat body 10 placed on the burner ring 52, it becomes easy to align the trivet from above. In the figure, the mating projections 54a of the trivet 54 are inserted through the hole 40.

The arrangement pattern of the holes 40 is set to match the arrangement pattern of the mating projections 52a of a burner ring 52 and the mating projections 54a of a trivet 54 in a typical gas range 50 available on the market.
That is, as shown in FIG. 6, there are several different arrangement patterns for the mating projections 52a, 54a of the burner ring 52 and trivet 54 in a typical gas range 50, and in any of these arrangement patterns, the positions and number of holes 40 are determined so that they can match with the mating projections 52a of the burner ring 52.
This makes it possible for one gas range mat 1 to be used for a variety of gas ranges 50.

The embodiments disclosed herein are illustrative in all respects and are not limiting. The scope of the present invention is defined by the claims, and includes all modifications and variations within the scope of the claims and their equivalents.

In the embodiment, the mat body 10 is shaped like an upside-down shallow dish made by pressing metal foil, but the shape of the mat body 10 is not limited to this and may be made from a heat-resistant and flexible sheet body made of, for example, silicone rubber, non-flammable paper, glass fiber sheet, or a composite of these, and may be deformed to cover the burner ring 52.
Furthermore, even when the mat body 10 is made of metal foil, the shape is not limited to that of the embodiment, and for example, the flange 12a and the edge rolling portion 13 may be omitted.
In the embodiment, the mat body 10 is configured to cover only the periphery of the gas burner 51, but is not limited thereto, and may cover almost the entire top plate 53, for example, as shown in Fig. 7. In that case, the mat body 10 is provided with a plurality of openings 20 and flaps 30 attached to the edges thereof so that the plurality of gas burners 52 on the top plate 53 can be inserted therethrough.

The arrangement pattern and number of the holes 40 are not limited to those in the embodiment.
For example, in the embodiment, the holes 40 are arranged so as to be compatible with the fitting unevenness of a plurality of arrangement patterns, but as a product dedicated to a specific gas range, the notches 30 and the holes 40 may be arranged so as to be compatible with only the fitting unevenness of a single arrangement pattern. In that case, the number of holes 40 is reduced, so that the burner ring 52 can be further prevented from becoming dirty.
In the embodiment, the hole 40 is formed only in the top plate 11, but as shown in FIG. 8, it may be formed from the top plate 11 to the skirt portion 12, or from the top plate 11 to the flange 12a.

In the embodiment, the flap 30 is rectangular, but as long as the ignition plug 51c and the safety device 51d for preventing the flame from going out can be inserted, the shape is not limited to this and may be semicircular, semi-oval, etc.

In the embodiment, a flap 30 is exemplified as the intended insertion portion, but the intended insertion portion is not limited to this as long as it can be folded or cut to insert the ignition plug 51c and the safety device 51d for preventing the flame from going out. For example, as shown in FIG. 9, the intended insertion portion may be partitioned by perforations 32 and can be cut by breaking the perforations 32. Also, lines may be formed in advance by printing or pressing, and the necessary lines may be cut with scissors to form slits during installation. Even if the flap 30 cannot be folded back, it is sufficient that the intended insertion portion can be formed by folding it 90 degrees, for example.

In the embodiment, a hole 40 is shown as a marker, but the type of marker is not limited to this, and examples include printing a mark, providing a recessed or protruding portion, and providing a transparent portion. Furthermore, even when a hole 40 is used as a marker, its shape is not limited to the embodiment, and it may be a circle, an ellipse, a polygon, etc. Furthermore, the marker may be omitted.

Claims (7)

A mat body capable of covering a burner ring installed around a gas burner on a top plate of a gas range;
An opening formed in the mat body and capable of inserting the gas burner, the opening having a diameter substantially equal to an outer diameter of the gas burner;
The mat body is provided with an insertion portion that is formed continuously with the opening and is partitioned by a slit, a ruled line or a perforation, and that can be folded or cut to allow an ignition plug and a safety device for preventing the flame from going out that are attached to the periphery of the gas burner to be inserted therethrough ;
When the intended insertion portion is formed by bending, it can be folded back in the outer diameter direction of the opening.
