Description

The present invention relates to a program for using a specified service, and a system and method for providing a specified service.

Various technologies have been proposed to promote the use of specific services via application programs. For example, the following Patent Document 1 discloses a system for granting incentives between different applications. Specifically, this system is configured so that when a user clicks on an advertisement for a second application displayed in a first application and uses the linked second application, an incentive in the first application (e.g., cards, items, and points in a card game) is granted to the user. As a result, an advertisement that is attractive to users can be realized, and the advertising effect can be increased.

However, in the above-mentioned system, although an advertisement that is attractive to a user who uses the application that displays the advertisement (the first application in the above-mentioned example) can be realized, it is difficult to say that the use of the application linked to by the advertisement (the second application in the above-mentioned example) is sufficiently promoted. Thus, in conventional systems, there is room for improvement in promoting the use of the linked program (corresponding service) that is the target of the advertisement, etc.

One of the objectives of the embodiments of the present invention is to promote the use of services corresponding to programs linked to advertisements, etc. Other objectives of the embodiments of the present invention will become apparent by referring to this specification as a whole.

A program according to one embodiment of the present invention is a program for using a specified service, which, in response to execution on a user terminal, causes the user terminal to execute the following steps in response to starting the program via specification of identification information to which the program and character are associated: recognizing a character associated with the identification information; and performing a specified process in the specified service based at least on the recognized character.

A system according to one embodiment of the present invention is a system for providing a predetermined service, comprising one or more computer processors, the one or more computer processors executing, in response to execution of readable instructions, a step of recognizing a character associated with a predetermined program for using the predetermined service in response to starting the predetermined program via specification of identification information to which the character is associated, and a step of performing a predetermined process in the predetermined service based at least on the recognized character.

A method according to one embodiment of the present invention is a method for providing a predetermined service, executed by one or more computers, and includes the steps of: recognizing a character associated with identification information in response to starting a predetermined program for providing the predetermined service via designation of identification information to which the character is associated; and performing a predetermined process in the predetermined service based at least on the recognized character.

Various embodiments of the present invention promote the use of services that correspond to programs linked to advertisements, etc.

The following describes an embodiment of the present invention with reference to the drawings.

FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of a service providing system 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in the figure, the system 1 includes a service providing server 10 and a user terminal 30 communicably connected to the server 10 via a communication network 20 such as the Internet. Although only one user terminal 30 is shown in FIG. 1, the service providing system 1 includes multiple user terminals 30. The service providing server 10 provides a predetermined service to a user via the user terminal 30. In this embodiment, the services provided by the server 10 (hereinafter, sometimes referred to as "provided services") include various types of services, and include, but are not limited to, distribution (viewing or viewing) of digital content (e.g., videos, music, and manga), games, SNS, and various information providing services.

The service providing server 10 is configured as a general computer, and as shown in FIG. 1, includes a computer processor 11, a main memory 12, an input/output I/F 13, a communication I/F 14, and a storage (memory device) 15, and each of these components is electrically connected via a bus or the like (not shown).

The computer processor 11 is configured as a CPU or GPU, etc., and loads various programs stored in the storage 15, etc., into the main memory 12 and executes various instructions contained in the programs. The main memory 12 is configured, for example, from a DRAM, etc.

The input/output I/F 13 includes various input/output devices for exchanging information with a user, etc. The input/output I/F 13 includes, for example, information input devices such as a keyboard and a pointing device (e.g., a mouse, a touch panel, etc.), an audio input device such as a microphone, and an image input device such as a camera. The input/output I/F 13 also includes an image output device such as a display, and an audio output device such as a speaker.

The communication I/F 14 is implemented as hardware such as a network adapter, various communication software, or a combination of these, and is configured to realize wired or wireless communication via a communication network 20, etc.

Storage 15 is composed of, for example, a magnetic disk, a flash memory, etc. Storage 15 stores various programs including an operating system, various data, etc.

In this embodiment, the service providing server 10 may be configured using multiple computers, each of which has the above-described hardware configuration. For example, the service providing server 10 may be configured by one or multiple server devices.

The service providing server 10 configured in this manner can be configured to have the functions of a web server and an application server, in which case it executes various processes in response to requests from a web browser and other applications installed in the user terminal 30, and transmits screen data (e.g., HTML data) and control data, etc., according to the results of the processes, to the user terminal 30. The user terminal 30 can display a web page or other screen based on the received data.

The user terminal 30 is configured as a general computer, and as shown in FIG. 1, includes a computer processor 31, a main memory 32, an input/output I/F 33, a communication I/F 34, and a storage (memory device) 35, and these components are electrically connected via a bus or the like (not shown).

The computer processor 31 is configured as a CPU or GPU, and loads various programs stored in the storage 35, etc., into the main memory 32 and executes various commands contained in the programs. The main memory 32 is configured, for example, from a DRAM, etc.

The input/output I/F 33 includes various input/output devices for exchanging information with a user, etc. The input/output I/F 33 includes, for example, information input devices such as a keyboard and a pointing device (e.g., a mouse, a touch panel, etc.), an audio input device such as a microphone, and an image input device such as a camera. The input/output I/F 33 also includes an image output device such as a display, and an audio output device such as a speaker.

The communication I/F 34 is implemented as hardware such as a network adapter, various communication software, or a combination of these, and is configured to realize wired or wireless communication via the communication network 20, etc.

Storage 35 is composed of, for example, a magnetic disk or a flash memory. Storage 35 stores various programs including an operating system, various data, and the like. The programs stored in storage 35 can be downloaded from an application market or the like and installed. For example, as shown in FIG. 1, a service program 351 for using a service provided by server 10 can be installed in storage 35.

In this embodiment, the user terminal 30 may be configured as a smartphone, a tablet terminal, a personal computer, a wearable device, etc.

A user operating a user terminal 30 configured in this manner can use the services provided by the service providing server 10 by communicating with the server 10 via a web browser or other application (e.g., a service program 351) installed in the storage 35, etc.

Next, the functions of the service providing system 1 of this embodiment will be described. FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing the functions of the service providing server 10 and the user terminal 30 of the system 1. As shown in the figure, the server 10 has an information storage management unit 41 that stores and manages various information, a basic function control unit 43 that controls the basic functions of the provided services, and a service control unit 45 that controls the provided services. These functions are realized by the cooperation of hardware such as the computer processor 11 and the main memory 12, and various programs and data stored in the storage 15, etc., and are realized, for example, by the computer processor 11 executing instructions included in a program loaded into the main memory 12. In addition, some or all of the functions of the server 10 shown in FIG. 2 can be realized by the cooperation of the server 10 and the user terminal 30, or by the user terminal 30.

For example, the basic function control unit 43 transmits screen data or control data of various screens related to the basic functions to the user terminal 30, executes various processes in response to operation input by the user via the screen displayed on the user terminal 30, and transmits screen data or control data according to the results of the processes to the user terminal 30. The basic functions controlled by the basic function control unit 43 include, for example, login processing (user authentication), billing control, and user management (for example, updating the user information table 411, etc.).

The service control unit 45 of the service providing server 10 is configured to execute various processes related to the control of the provided services. In this embodiment, the service utilization unit 53 is configured to recognize a character associated with the identification information in response to the start of the service program 351 through the specification of the identification information with which the character is associated. The identification information is configured, for example, as a deep link or a deferred deep link corresponding to a combination of the service program 351 and the character. For example, the identification information is configured to include a URL (custom URL scheme) corresponding to the service program 351 and a URL parameter corresponding to the character. The identification information is set, for example, as link information in an object (image, character string, etc.) displayed on a web page and in a message on an SNS. In addition, the identification information is embedded in a code such as an optically readable two-dimensional code, and the code is displayed on a web page or the like, or printed on actual paper.

In this embodiment, the service utilization unit 53 is configured to perform a predetermined process in the provided service based at least on the recognized character. The predetermined process may include various processes that are directly or indirectly related to the utilization of the provided service.

In this way, the service providing system 1 in this embodiment performs a predetermined process based on the character associated with the identification information in response to the activation of the service program 351 for using the provided service and the program 351 via the specification of the identification information with which the character is associated, so that the user can enjoy such character-based processing, which can promote the use of the provided service. For example, the character is managed in the user information table 411. This configuration makes it possible to store the character associated with the identification information and then perform a predetermined process based on the character at various times.

In this embodiment, the service control unit 45 of the server 10 may be configured to set a reward for the manager of the character. Next, a specific example of the service providing system 1 of this embodiment having such functions will be described. In this specific example, the system 1 is configured to provide a manga viewing service for using (viewing) manga (electronic books) as digital content.

First, the information managed in each table in this example will be described. Figure 3 illustrates the information managed in user information table 411 in this example. User information table 411 manages information about users of the manga viewing service, and as shown in the figure, manages information such as "basic information" which is basic information about the user such as account name, age, and gender, "character information" which is information about promotional characters associated with the user, "number of coins," and "purchase history information" which is information about manga purchase history, in association with a "user account" which identifies an individual user.

The character information includes information that can identify individual characters (e.g., a character ID, etc.). The number of coins is updated as the user acquires and spends coins. In this example, coins are electronic and virtual items that can be used in the manga reading service. Users can acquire coins at various times, either for a fee or free of charge. The purchase history information includes information that can identify the purchase unit (a specific "chapter" or "volume") of a purchased manga work.

Figure 4 illustrates information managed in the character information table 412 in this example. The character information table 412 manages information about the promotional characters of the manga viewing service in this example, and as shown in the figure, manages information such as "administrator information" which is information about the administrator of this character, "recommended work information" which is information about the manga work recommended by this character, "recommended timing information" which is information about the timing when this character recommends a manga work, "guidance record information" which is the record of new user registration performed by installing and first starting the service program 351 via the specification of the promotional URL corresponding to this character, and "sales record information" which is the sales record of the manga work recommended by this character, in association with a "character ID" which identifies an individual character. The guidance record information includes the date and time when the new user registration was performed and the corresponding user account. The sales record information also includes the date and time when the manga work was sold and the number of coins consumed. Note that the image file corresponding to the content of the manga work itself is managed in a storage device such as the storage 15 or another server.

Next, the operation of the service providing system 1 in this example will be described. In the manga viewing service in this example, a promotional URL is issued individually to each of the multiple characters (e.g., Vtubers) who promote the service. The URL realizes a deferred deep link to the service program 351. The URL also includes the character ID of the corresponding character as a URL parameter.

In this example, the promotional URL may be displayed or printed on various application screens, web pages, paper media, and the like. FIG. 5 illustrates a video posting service screen 60 as an example of a screen including a promotional URL. The screen 60 is a screen for playing videos posted in a video posting service, and as shown in the figure, has a video playback area 62 for playing videos and an information display area 64 for displaying information related to the videos. The area 64 displays information such as poster information (profile image and account name, etc.) and explanations. In addition, in the example of FIG. 5, the area 64 has a two-dimensional code CD in which the promotional URL is embedded. For example, the poster of this video is the character itself (e.g., a Vtuber) corresponding to the promotional URL, and the video (posted video) played in the video playback area 62 is, for example, a video in which a character introduces a manga viewing service in this example.

The two-dimensional code CD has a link set to an embedded promotional URL. For example, the user can obtain and specify the promotional URL by reading the two-dimensional code CD included in the screen 60 displayed on the display of a personal computer with a smartphone serving as the user terminal 30, or can directly specify (by tapping, etc.) the two-dimensional code CD on the screen 60 displayed on the user terminal 30.

Figure 6 is a flow diagram illustrating the process executed by the user terminal 30 in response to a user's specification of a promotional URL for a manga viewing service. As shown in the figure, the user terminal 30 first checks whether the service program 351 is installed in the user terminal 30 (step S100), and if the program 351 is not installed (NO in step S100), it saves the promotional URL (step S105). Specifically, the promotional URL is saved in a management server or the like communicatively connected to the user terminal 30 via the communication network 20 or the like in association with information that identifies the user terminal 30 (e.g., IDFA in an iOS terminal, or AAID in an Android (registered trademark) terminal, etc.).

Then, the user terminal 30 accesses the application market (step S110). Specifically, the user terminal 30 accesses a page for installing the service program 351 in the corresponding application market, and a screen corresponding to the page is displayed on the user terminal 30 via a program for the application market or a web browser, etc.

Then, the system waits for an installation instruction from the user (NO in step S120), and when the installation instruction is given (YES in step S120), the user terminal 30 downloads and installs the service program 351 (step S130).

Then, the system waits for a user instruction to start the service program 351 (NO in step S140), and when the instruction is given (YES in step S140), the user terminal 30 acquires a promotional URL (step S145), starts the service program 351, and displays a tutorial screen in which the corresponding character appears (step S150). The promotional URL is acquired from the management server or the like that was designated as the storage destination in step S105.

Figure 7 shows an example of a tutorial screen 70 on which a corresponding character appears. The screen 70 displays an animation to explain the screen operations when using a manga viewing service, and the character CH corresponding to the promotional URL appears in the animation. Note that in this example, if the service program 351 is downloaded, installed, and launched for the first time without specifying a promotional URL (for example, through an individual search by the user in the application market), a default character appears on the tutorial screen 70 in place of the promotional character.

Returning to the flow diagram of FIG. 6, after displaying the tutorial screen, the user terminal 30 then registers a character corresponding to the promotional URL (step S160). Specifically, the user terminal 30 requests the server 10 to register a character, and the server 10 creates a new record in the user information table 411 and sets the character ID of the corresponding promotional character in the character information.

Then, the user terminal 30 updates the guidance history information (step S170). Specifically, the user terminal 30 requests the server 10 to update the guidance history information, and the server 10 updates the guidance history information of the corresponding character in the character information table 412 (this new user registration (installation and first launch) is added to the guidance history information).

In this way, in this example, when the service program 351 is downloaded, installed, and started for the first time via the specification of the promotional URL, a tutorial is performed in which a character corresponding to the promotional URL appears, and the promotional character is associated with the user. Note that if the service program 351 is already installed on the user terminal 30 (YES in step S100), nothing is done.

Above, we have explained the operation of the manga viewing service in response to the specification of a promotional URL. Next, we will explain the operation related to the recommendation of manga works in this example. In this example, the manga viewing service recommends manga works that are identified based on the promotional character at the timing set for the promotional character associated with the user.

Figure 8 is a flow diagram illustrating the processing executed by server 10 with respect to the recommendation of manga works. These processing steps are executed each time a user uses the manga viewing service (starts service program 351). As shown in the figure, server 10 first checks whether today's day of the week is one of the days for which manga works are recommended to the user (step S200). Specifically, in this example, the day of the week on which manga works are recommended to the user is set for each promotional character (specifically, this is set as recommendation timing information in character information table 412), and it is checked whether today's day of the week is one of the days set for the corresponding promotional character.

If today's day of the week is one of the days for which manga works are recommended to the user (YES in step S200), the server 10 causes a work recommendation screen for recommending manga works to be displayed on the user terminal 30 (step S210). Specifically, screen data for the work recommendation screen is transmitted from the server 10 to the user terminal 30.

Figure 9 illustrates an example of a work recommendation screen 80 displayed on the user terminal 30. As shown in the figure, the screen 80 has a work list display area 82 that displays a list of multiple recommended manga works arranged horizontally, and is configured to feature a character CH associated with the user (i.e., a character corresponding to the promotional URL specified when installing the service program 351). As described above, the character associated with the user is managed in the character information of the user information table 411.

The manga works listed in the work list display area 82 of the work recommendation screen 80 are works set for each character, and the works are specifically set as recommended work information in the character information table 412. When the user selects a work via the work list display area 82, a screen for purchasing the corresponding manga work is displayed. The user can purchase the corresponding manga work by spending the coins that the user owns. The user can then repeatedly view the purchased manga work.

If the manga work recommended via the work recommendation screen is purchased (YES in step S220), the server 10 updates the user's purchase history information and the character's sales history information (step S230). Specifically, information regarding the purchase of this manga work is added to the purchase history information in the user information table 411 and the sales history information in the character information table 412.

The above describes the operation related to the recommendation of manga works. Next, the operation related to setting the reward for the character manager will be described. In this example, the reward for the character manager is set periodically (for example, on a specific day of each month), and the reward is set based on the character's guidance performance information and sales performance information managed in the character information table 412. Specifically, the reward for a specific period (for example, one month) is set based on the number of new user registrations guided by the corresponding character during the specific period and the sales amount (number of coins consumed) of the manga work recommended by the corresponding character. The greater the number of new user registrations and the greater the sales amount, the greater the reward amount. Note that in this example, instead of or in addition to the number of new user registrations and the sales amount, the reward amount can also be calculated using the number of consecutive login days and the number of times the manga work is viewed.

In the above example, when a promotional URL is specified and the service program 351 is already installed in the user terminal 30, nothing is done. However, in another example of this embodiment, when the service program 351 is already installed, the user terminal 30 can be configured to start the program 351 and display a top screen that serves as the starting point for using the manga viewing service, and then register a character corresponding to the promotional URL (associate it with the user), similar to the processing of step S160 in the flow diagram of FIG. 6. In this way, a new promotional character can be associated with an existing user who has already installed the service program 351, and various processing such as recommending manga works based on the promotional character can then be performed.

In the above example, the day of the week on which a manga work is recommended to the user is set for each promotional character, but the timing of the manga work recommendation is not limited to this. For example, a recommendation of a new issue of a manga work associated with a promotional character (e.g., a manga work recommended by that character) may be made when that new issue is released. Also, for example, a special process may be executed on the birthday of the promotional character.

In the above example, an account for the manga viewing service corresponding to the promotional character may be issued, and the user may be allowed to take certain actions with respect to the account. For example, the user may be allowed to provide various types of gifts (e.g., coins, or a specific manga work (right to view), etc.) to the account corresponding to the promotional character. This strengthens the relationship between the user and the character (administrator), further promoting use of the manga viewing service.

The service providing system 1 of this embodiment described above performs a predetermined process (e.g., tutorials and manga recommendations, etc.) based on the character associated with the identification information in response to starting a service program 351 for using a provided service (e.g., a manga viewing service, etc.) via specification of the service program 351 and identification information (e.g., a promotional URL, etc.) with which a character is associated, allowing the user to enjoy such character-based processing, which can promote use of the provided service. In this way, the system 1 promotes use of the service corresponding to the program (via specification of identification information) linked to an advertisement, etc.

The processes and procedures described in this specification may be realized by software, hardware, or any combination thereof, other than those explicitly described. For example, the processes and procedures described in this specification may be realized by implementing logic equivalent to the processes and procedures in a medium such as an integrated circuit, volatile memory, non-volatile memory, or a magnetic disk. In addition, the processes and procedures described in this specification may be implemented as a computer program equivalent to the processes and procedures, and executed by various computers.

Although the processes and procedures described herein are described as being performed by a single device, software, component, or module, such processes or procedures may be performed by multiple devices, multiple software, multiple components, and/or multiple modules. Also, the software and hardware elements described herein may be realized by integrating them into fewer components or breaking them down into more components.

A program for using a predetermined service, the program being executed on a user terminal,
In response to initiation of the program via specification of identification information with which the program and character are associated, recognizing a character associated with the identification information;
performing a predetermined process in the predetermined service based at least on the recognized character;
