Description
ここでは、直列気筒のエンジンを備えた内燃機関の排気浄化装置について説明する。
この発明に係る内燃機関の排気浄化装置1は、図1及び図2に示すように、エンジン2のシリンダヘッド3に設けられた複数すなわち直列の第1~第4の気筒10a,10b,10c,10d(以下に、第1~第4気筒10a,10b,10c,10dという)に連通する第1~第4の排気管からなる排気通路20a~20dの下流側に合流部30が接続され、合流部30の下方の下流側に触媒コンバータ40が接続されている。
第2実施形態の排気浄化装置1Aは、図5及び図6に示すように、シリンダヘッド3に対して第3気筒10cに連通する第3の排気ポート11cと第4気筒10dに連通する第4の排気ポート11dの中間の位置に、合流部30が配置される場合である。なお、第2実施形態において、第1実施形態と同じ部分には同一符号を付して説明する。
第3実施形態の排気浄化装置1Bは、図8,図9A及び図9Bに示すように、シリンダヘッド3に対して第3気筒10cに連通する第3の排気ポート11cと第4気筒10dに連通する第4の排気ポート11dの中間の位置に、合流部30が配置される場合であって、各排気ポート11a~11dに連通する排気通路20Bを一体に形成した場合である。なお、第3実施形態において、第1実施形態と同じ部分には同一符号を付して説明する。
第4実施形態の排気浄化装置1Cは、図10及び図11に示すように、各気筒10a~10dに連通する排気ポート11a~11dを集合した集合排気ポート12に連通する排気通路20Cを合流部30に接続した場合である。この場合、集合排気ポート12の排出口13は、第2の排気ポート11bと第3の排気ポート11cの中間の位置に設けられている。なお、第4実施形態において、第1実施形態と同じ部分には同一符号を付して説明する。
第5実施形態の排気浄化装置1Dは、図15~図17に示すように、各気筒10a~10dに連通する各排気通路20a~20dの各中心軸の延長線上に壁25Dを設けた集合排気通路20Dを有しており、集合排気通路20Dが合流部30に接続されている。なお、第5実施形態において、第1実施形態と同じ部分には同一符号を付して説明する。

Claims (2)
- 複数の気筒、及び前記複数の気筒に連通する1又は複数の排気通路を備えたエンジンに触媒コンバータが付設された内燃機関の排気浄化装置であって、
前記1又は複数の排気通路の下流側に接続する合流部において、前記1又は複数の排気通路の下流側端部が前記合流部の内面から前記合流部内に突出する突出部が形成されることにより前記合流部内に流入する排気ガスの主流の噴流を促す拡散部が設けられており、且つ、
前記1又は複数の排気通路に設けられた排気ガスの流入口と対向する前記合流部の内壁に、前記流入口から前記合流部内に直線的に流入する排気ガスの主流を衝突させて3次元的に分散させる分散面が形成されており、
更に、前記1又は複数の排気通路が屈曲部を介して前記合流部に接続され、前記屈曲部の外側壁に沿う軸と、前記合流部の前記分散面とが略直交している
ことを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置であって、
前記合流部における前記複数の排気通路から前記合流部内に流入する排気ガスの主流が交わる部位に、空燃比センサが設けられている、
ことを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
