The present invention relates to a facial impression evaluation method for evaluating a facial impression based on the shape of made-up eyebrows, a facial impression adjustment method for adjusting a facial impression based on the shape of made-up eyebrows, and an eyebrow makeup method.

Various evaluation methods have been known for evaluating the external impression of a made-up face or the eyes. For example, a method is known in which the condition of eyelashes is quantified and the numerical value indicating the condition of the eyelashes is used as an index to evaluate the impression of the eyes.

One known example of this type of evaluation method is a method for evaluating the impression of the eyes using, as an index, the unbiased variance V(θ) of the angle θ between the horizontal line HL and the line segment BH connecting the base B and tip H of the eyelashes, calculated for the eyelashes in side-view eye images of multiple subjects, and/or the curl value S/Le, calculated by dividing the area S of the region enclosed by the line segment BH connecting the base B and tip H of the eyelashes and a line tracing from the base B to the tip H of the eyelashes by the length Le of the line tracing from the base B to the tip H of the eyelashes (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

The evaluation method described in Patent Document 1 makes it possible to evaluate the impression of the eyes using the degree of curl and variation of eyelashes, which are easily and accurately determined, as indicators.

However, methods for evaluating facial impressions based on eyebrow shape, which characterizes the facial impression, have not yet been fully explored. In particular, it cannot be said that methods for evaluating facial impressions that employ objective indexes of eyebrow shape that have a high correlation with specific facial impressions have yet to be fully explored.
Furthermore, a method for adjusting a facial impression that can adjust a face to a specific impression by adopting an objective index that represents eyebrow shape has not yet been fully studied.

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a method for evaluating a facial impression that employs an objective index of eyebrow shape that has a high correlation with a specific facial impression.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a facial impression adjustment method that can adjust a face to a specific impression by utilizing an objective index that represents the shape of eyebrows.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a makeup method for one's own eyebrows that can give a specific impression to the face.

A facial impression evaluation method according to the present invention is a facial impression evaluation method for evaluating a facial impression based on the shape of made-up eyebrows, comprising:
a shape specifying step of specifying the shape of the eyebrows;
an impression confirmation step of confirming the impression of the face for which the eyebrow shape has been specified for each evaluation item,

One embodiment of the facial impression evaluation method according to the present invention is described below.

<Facial impression evaluation method (eyebrow shape identification method)>

In the facial impression evaluation method of this embodiment, the degree of distance from the first reference line, the second reference line, and the third reference line is used as an index, and the shape of the made-up eyebrows can be identified using these indices. These indices, which are closely related to eyebrow shape, are highly correlated with the above-mentioned specific impressions of the face. Specifically, they are highly correlated with specific impressions such as impressions related to the arrangement or size of the eyes, nose, and mouth on the face, or impressions related to the size or aspect ratio of the face. Therefore, by setting each of the above-mentioned degrees of separation within a predetermined range, the face can be made to appear with a specific impression.

Preferably, in the facial impression evaluation method of the present embodiment, the shape specifying step further includes:

In the facial impression evaluation method of this embodiment, the order in which steps 1 to 4 in the shape specification step are performed is not particularly limited. Note that below, the manner in which two first reference lines, two second reference lines, and two third reference lines are set on each side of the face may be explained by illustrating only one side. The same applies hereinafter in this specification.

The person who performs the shape specification step may be the person who has made-up eyebrows, or may be a person other than the person who has made-up eyebrows.
The object on which the shape identification step is performed may be a face of a person with made-up eyebrows, an image of a face of a person with made-up eyebrows, or an illustrated image of a face of a person with made-up eyebrows.

In the first step, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, first reference straight lines α1 are set, each extending directly upward from the base of the nostrils on both the left and right sides of the face.
The alar, also called the nasal ala, is the part of the tip of the nose that bulges out on both sides. The base of the alar, also called the nasal bridge, is the area on both sides where the alar meets the bridge of the nose.
In the first step, a straight line (hereinafter also referred to as "brow line" β1) connecting the base of the nostrils and the tips of the made-up eyebrows is set, as shown in Fig. 2. More specifically, a straight line (brow line) connecting the base of the nostrils and the tips of the tips of the eyebrows is set on each side.
The inner corner of the eyebrow is the part of each eyebrow that is closest to the center line of the face.

Next, in the first step, the distance between the first reference line and the eyebrow line is calculated. For example, the angle between the first reference line and the eyebrow line is calculated. To reduce the distance between the first reference line and the eyebrow inner line (for example, the angle between the first reference line and the eyebrow inner line), eyebrow makeup is applied so that the tip of the eyebrow inner line is as close as possible to the first reference line.

In the second step, a second reference line α2 is set that connects the corners of the mouth and the outer corners of the eyes on both sides of the face in the vertical direction, as shown in Figures 1 and 3. Specifically, a second reference line is set that connects the corners of the mouth on both sides of the mouth and the outer corners of the eyes in the vertical direction.
The corners of the mouth are the joints between the upper and lower lips. The outer corners of the eyes are the corners of the eyes closest to the ears.
In the second step, lines (hereinafter also referred to as "eyebrow tail lines" β2) are set that connect the corners of the mouth and the ends of the made-up eyebrows in the up-down direction on the left and right sides, as shown in Fig. 3. More specifically, lines (eyebrow tail lines) that connect the ends of the corners of the mouth and the tips of the ends of the eyebrows are set on the left and right sides.
The tail of the eyebrow is the part of each eyebrow that is closest to the ear.

Next, in the second step, the angle between the second reference line and the eyebrow end line is calculated. The smaller this angle, the smaller the distance between the second reference line and the eyebrow end line. Note that on each side of the face, the eyebrow end line is usually located closer to the ear than the second reference line.
The angle formed by the second reference line and the eyebrow tail line may be measured on an actual face with eyebrow makeup applied, or may be measured on an image of a face with eyebrow makeup applied.

To reduce the distance between the second reference line and the eyebrow tail line (for example, the angle between the second reference line and the eyebrow tail line), apply eyebrow makeup so that the tip of the eyebrow tail line is as close as possible to the second reference line.

In the third step, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 4, a third reference line α3 is set which connects the lower ends of both the left and right eyebrows on both sides of the face.
In the third step, the lower edge of the made-up eyebrow, which extends in the left-right direction, is checked. This lower edge usually forms a gentle curve that curves upward.

Next, in the third step, the distance between the third reference line α3 and the lower edge of the eyebrow is determined. To determine the distance, for example, the distance (length) between the third reference line α3 and the lower edge of the eyebrow at the point where the third reference line α3 is furthest from the lower edge in the direction perpendicular to the third reference line α3 may be measured.
Alternatively, to determine the degree of separation, as shown in Figure 4, a broken line β3 may be established by connecting the lower edge Y of the eyebrow, where the lower edge is furthest from the third reference line α3 in a direction perpendicular to the third reference line α3 (the furthest point, hereinafter also referred to as the lower end of the brow arch), with both the left and right ends of the lower edge of the eyebrow, and the angle of the furthest point on this broken line (hereinafter also referred to as the "brow arch angle") may be measured. The larger this angle (the closer it is to 180°), the smaller the degree of separation between the third reference line α3 and the lower edge of the eyebrow. Note that the lower edge of the eyebrow is usually located above the third reference line α3, but there may also be cases where the lower edge of the eyebrow and the third reference line α3 coincide with each other.

In the fourth step, as shown in Fig. 5A, a height α4 is set from the corners of the mouth on both sides of the face to the lowest end L of the lower eyelid. The lowest end L of the lower eyelid is the lowest part of the edge of the lower eyelid that curves gently downward.

The height β4 from the lowest end L of the lower eyelid to the average height M of the lower edge of the eyebrow may be measured on an actual face with eyebrow makeup, or may be measured on an image of a face with eyebrow makeup.

In the fourth step, to determine the eyebrow height more accurately, the ratio of the upper edge height β4' of the eyebrow to the height β4 (vertical distance) from the lowest point L of the lower eyelid to the average height M of the lower edge of the eyebrow (β4'/β4, hereinafter also referred to as the "upper edge height ratio of the eyebrow") may be calculated. Specifically, as shown in Figure 5B, the upper edge D of the eyebrow head is set at the part of the eyebrow head closest to the nose. A straight line is set connecting this upper edge D of the eyebrow head to the tip E of the tail of the eyebrow, and the upper edge of the eyebrow farthest from this straight line at the brow arch (brow arch point F) is set. An intermediate height position N between the upper edge D of the eyebrow head and the brow arch point F is determined. The vertical distance between this intermediate height position N and the average height M of the lower edge of the eyebrow is defined as the upper edge height β4' of the eyebrow.

The height from the bottom of the lower eyelid to the eyebrows can be adjusted as needed by changing how you draw your eyebrows when applying makeup.

In the fifth step, the thickness of the eyebrow beginning and the thickness of the brow arch are measured. Specifically, as shown in Figure 6, the vertical distance between the upper edge D of the eyebrow beginning and the lower edge X of the eyebrow beginning, which is the part of the eyebrow beginning closest to the nose, is set as the thickness of the eyebrow beginning (β5). In addition, the vertical distance between the brow arch point F and the lower end Y of the brow arch is set as the thickness of the brow arch β5'. As mentioned above, the lower end Y of the brow arch is the point at which the lower end of the eyebrow (lower contour) is farthest from the line connecting the lower end of the brow beginning and the lower end of the brow tail. Then, from the measured thicknesses of the brow beginning and brow arch set as above, the ratio of the thickness of the brow arch to the thickness of the eyebrow beginning (β5'/β5, hereinafter also referred to as the "eyebrow arch thickness ratio") is calculated.

The facial impression evaluation method of this embodiment further includes an impression confirmation step in which the facial impression is confirmed for each evaluation item.

In the impression confirmation step, the facial impressions identified in the results of the first step, second step, third step, and a fourth step, which is performed as necessary, are confirmed for each specific evaluation item related to the facial impression.
The impression confirmation step is usually carried out by visual sensory evaluation.

The person who performs the impression confirmation step may be the person who has made-up eyebrows, or may be a person other than the person who has made-up eyebrows.
The target on which the above impression confirmation step is performed may be the face of a person with made-up eyebrows, or an image of the face of a person with made-up eyebrows. It may also be an illustrated image of a person's face with made-up eyebrows.

Specifically, in the impression confirmation step,
Evaluation items related to the placement or size of the eyes, nose, and mouth on the face; and
At least one of the evaluation items relating to the size or aspect ratio of the face is adopted as an evaluation item.

For example, the following evaluation items are examples of evaluation items related to the placement or size of the eyes, nose, and mouth on the face.

The examples of the specific evaluation items mentioned above are all listed as representing a "good" condition. For example, with respect to the above-mentioned degree of separation in the first step, the angle formed by the first reference line α1 and the eyebrow line β1 is preferably 5.0° or less, more preferably 4.0° or less, and even more preferably 3.0° or less.
When the angle formed by the first reference line and the eyebrow line is equal to or smaller than the predetermined angle as described above, the evaluation results of the specific evaluation items related to the impression of the face can be more favorable.

For example, with respect to the above-mentioned degree of separation in the second step, the angle formed by the second reference line α2 and the eyebrow tail line β2 is preferably 4.0° or less, more preferably 3.0° or less, and even more preferably 1.5° or less.
When the angle formed by the second reference line and the eyebrow tail line is equal to or less than the predetermined angle as described above, the evaluation results of the specific evaluation items related to the impression of the face can be more favorable.

For example, with regard to the degree of separation in the third step, the angle of the furthest point on the broken line β3 (brow arch angle) is preferably 156.0° or more and 174.0° or less, and more preferably 160.5° or more and 169.5° or less.
By setting the angle of the furthest point on the broken line to be within the predetermined range as described above, the evaluation results of the specific evaluation items related to the impression of the face can be improved.
The angle may be approximately 180°. In other words, the lower edge of the eyebrow after makeup may be straight, without the bent line as described above.

For example, the above-mentioned eyebrow height ratio (β4/α4) in the fourth step is preferably 0.27 or more and 0.35 or less, and more preferably 0.29 or more and 0.33 or less.
The above-mentioned ratio of the height of the upper edge of the eyebrows (β4'/β4) is preferably 0.30 or more and 0.50 or less, and more preferably 0.35 or more and 0.45 or less.
When the eyebrow height ratio and the eyebrow upper edge height ratio are within the predetermined ranges as described above, the evaluation results of the specific evaluation items related to the impression of the face can be improved.

For example, the thickness ratio of the arch of the eyebrow (β5'/β5) in the fifth step is preferably 0.66 or more and 1.10 or less, and more preferably 0.77 or more and 0.99 or less.
By having the above-mentioned brow ridge thickness ratio fall within the predetermined range as described above, the evaluation results of the above-mentioned specific evaluation items related to the impression of the face can be more favorable.

The facial impression evaluation method of this embodiment can be used, for example, to widely disseminate theoretical techniques for applying eyebrow makeup to give a face a particular impression.

Next, one embodiment of the facial impression adjustment method according to the present invention will be described below.

<Method for adjusting the impression of your face>
The facial impression adjustment method of this embodiment is a facial impression adjustment method that adjusts a facial impression based on the shape of made-up eyebrows,

The facial impression adjustment method of this embodiment can employ a method similar to that employed in the facial impression evaluation method described above. Unless otherwise specified, the following description of the facial impression adjustment method is the same as that of the facial impression evaluation method described above.

In the image preparation process, multiple facial images with different shapes of made-up eyebrows are prepared. The facial images may be photographs of a person's face after applying makeup to their own eyebrows, or may be illustrations of a face with eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. drawn on them.

In the image preparation process, at least one of the first change process, second change process, third change process, fourth change process, and fifth change process is performed. Any two or more of these processes may be performed, or all of the processes may be performed. The order in which the above-mentioned processes are performed is not particularly limited.

For example, in the first modification step of the image preparation step, the first reference line α1 is set, and then a facial image is prepared in which multiple eyebrows are drawn, each with a different angle formed between the first reference line α1 and the eyebrow inset line β1.
The angle formed by the first reference line α1 and the eyebrow line β1 may be set to a predetermined value, for example, in the range of 0° to 10°.

For example, in the second modification step of the image preparation step, the second reference line α2 is set, and a facial image is prepared in which a plurality of eyebrows are drawn, each with a different angle formed between the second reference line α2 and the eyebrow tail line β2.
The angle formed by the second reference line α2 and the eyebrow tail line β2 may be set to a predetermined value, for example, in the range of 0° to 10°.

For example, in the third modification step of the image preparation step, the third reference line α3 is set, and a facial image is prepared in which multiple eyebrows are drawn with different angles (brow ridge angles) at the furthest points on the broken line β3.
The angle of the brow peak in the above-mentioned broken line β3 may be set to a predetermined value in the range of, for example, 140° to 180°.

For example, in the fourth modification step of the image preparation step, a height α4 from the corner of the mouth to the lowest end L of the lower eyelid is set. Furthermore, facial images are prepared in which a plurality of eyebrows are drawn, each with a different ratio (β4/α4 eyebrow height ratio) of the height α4 to the height β4 from the lowest end L of the lower eyelid to the average height M of the lower edge of the eyebrow.
The eyebrow height ratio (β4/α4) may be set to a predetermined value in the range of, for example, 0.2 or more and 0.4 or less.

The ratio of the height of the upper edge of the eyebrows may be set to a predetermined value, for example, in the range of 0.3 to 0.5.

For example, in the fifth modification step of the image preparation step, the thickness of the eyebrow inner portion β5 and the thickness of the brow arch β5' are set, and facial images are prepared in which multiple eyebrows are drawn, each with a different ratio of the thickness of the brow arch β5' to the thickness of the brow inner portion β5 (β5'/β5 brow arch thickness ratio).

In the image preparation step, all of the first to fourth modification steps may be performed to prepare a large number of images of faces having eyebrows of various shapes.

In the present embodiment, in the impression confirmation step, the impression of the face that reflects the changes made in at least one of the first to third change steps is visually confirmed. Furthermore, the change made in the fourth change step or the fifth change step may be reflected in the face.
In the impression confirmation step, the person may confirm their own facial impression, or another person may confirm it. Furthermore, the facial impression may be confirmed by one person, or by multiple people, respectively. Furthermore, the facial impression of one person may be confirmed, or by multiple facial impressions, respectively.
The face of the person with the eyebrows made up may be directly checked visually, or an image of the person's face may be viewed.

In the impression confirmation process, the facial impression is visually confirmed for each evaluation item related to the facial impression. Examples of evaluation items include the items exemplified above.

According to the facial impression adjustment method of this embodiment, by repeating the image preparation process and the impression confirmation process described above to set eyebrows with a specific shape using objective indicators, a face with such eyebrows with a specific shape can give a specific impression.

Specifically, the made-up eyebrows can be specified to have a predetermined shape so that the face can give the following impression:
- The placement and size of the eyes, nose, and mouth on the face create a favorable impression.
- The size or aspect ratio of the face creates a favorable impression.
More specifically, the made-up eyebrows can be specified to have a predetermined shape so that the face can have the following impression:

In order for the face to have the above impression, the shape of the made-up eyebrows is set to achieve, for example, the preferred angle between the first reference line and the eyebrow inset line, the preferred angle between the second reference line and the eyebrow tail line, the preferred angle of the furthest point on the broken line, or the preferred "eyebrow height ratio" or "upper edge of eyebrow height ratio" described above, as explained in the facial impression evaluation method above.

When repeating the image preparation process, applying eyebrow makeup to an actual person's face, such as in the first to third modification steps, would take a long time. Therefore, in order to be able to repeatedly perform the image preparation process in a short amount of time, it is preferable to change the eyebrow shape in a digital facial image (photograph or illustration) by image processing using software.

The facial impression adjustment method of this embodiment is used, for example, in makeup consultancy work. Specifically, it is used in applications such as makeup counseling related to eyebrow makeup.

Next, one embodiment of the eyebrow makeup method according to the present invention will be described below.

<How to apply eyebrow makeup>
The eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment (a makeup method for one's own eyebrows) includes at least:
a first step of marking a first mark at an intersection of a first reference line extending directly upward from the base of each of the nostrils on the left and right sides of the face and a lower end line of each of the inner corners of the left and right eyebrows;
a second step of marking a second mark at an intersection of a second reference line connecting the corners of the mouth and the outer corners of the eyes on both sides of the face and a lower end line of each of the outer corners of the eyebrows;
and a third step of drawing an imaginary straight line extending horizontally from one of the first and second marks, whichever is shorter, toward the other mark, and drawing an eyebrow at least on the lower edge side of the skin between the lower edge of the natural eyebrow extending in the left-right direction and the imaginary line.

The eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment preferably further includes a fourth step of determining the height position from the lower edge of the eyebrow to the lowermost edge of the lower eyelid, based on the heights from the corners of the mouth on both sides of the face to the lowermost edge of the lower eyelid. In the fourth step, the position of the upper edge of the eyebrow may be determined by setting the above-mentioned "eyebrow upper edge height ratio."
The eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment may include, for example, a fifth step of determining the above-mentioned "brow arch thickness ratio" (ratio of the thickness of the brow arch to the thickness of the brow head).
In the eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment, the eyebrows can be drawn so that the positions determined as described above form the outline of the eyebrows. Note that the fourth and fifth steps can be performed in accordance with the techniques described for the fourth and fifth steps above, respectively.

The first reference line and second reference line in the eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment are as described above. Note that a natural eyebrow may be a curved rod that curves gently upward, a bent rod that is partially bent upward, or a straight rod. Therefore, the lower edge of a natural eyebrow extending in the left-right direction may be a curve that curves gently upward, a broken line that is bent upward halfway, or a straight line. Furthermore, a natural eyebrow may have a shape in which the beginning of the eyebrow is higher than the end, or the beginning of the eyebrow is lower than the end.

In the first step, a first mark is made at the intersection of the first reference line and the lower end line of each natural eyebrow. The first mark is made as a marker using a common beige makeup product, such as concealer. The first mark is made by drawing a short line perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the natural eyebrow, as shown by I in (a) of Figure 7A.
The "bottom line" mentioned above includes both the bottom line of the eyebrow itself and the imaginary bottom line extending out to the left and right from the bottom line of the eyebrow itself. The same applies to the "bottom line" in the second step below.

In the second step, a second mark is made at the intersection of the second reference line and the lower end line of each natural eyebrow. For example, as above, the second mark is made as a marker using a common beige-colored makeup product. The second mark is made by drawing a short line perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the natural eyebrow, as shown by II in Figure 7A (b), for example.

In the third step, a virtual line is set horizontally from the first mark or the second mark that is lower in height position to the higher mark. Note that the virtual line may overlap with the third reference line described above.
Preferably, a linear mark is made using the above-mentioned makeup preparation so as to overlap the above-mentioned imaginary straight line. For example, as shown in III in (c) of Figure 7A, a line mark may be drawn using a common makeup preparation having a beige color as described above. The linear mark is drawn horizontally from the shorter of the first mark and the second mark to the other. For example, if the first mark is shorter, the linear mark is drawn from the first mark to the second mark, and if the second mark is shorter, the linear mark is drawn from the second mark to the first mark.

In the third step, the eyebrows are then drawn at least partially (on the lower edge side) between the imaginary line and the lower edge of the natural eyebrow (the lower contour line of the natural eyebrow extending in the left-right direction). For example, as shown in (d) and (e) of Figure 7B, the upper half (or all) of the skin between the linear mark overlapping the imaginary line and the lower edge of the natural eyebrow may be painted with an eyebrow pencil or the like. As shown in (e) and (f) of Figure 7B, the lower edge of the drawn eyebrow may be slightly blurred with eyebrow powder or the like. Furthermore, a beige makeup product may be applied to the skin with a brush or the like to make the linear mark between the first and second marks less noticeable.

In the third step, it is preferable to draw (apply makeup to) the eyebrows so that the angle of the furthest point on the aforementioned broken line is within a specified range. However, in terms of completing the makeup easily, it is also possible to draw the eyebrows all the way between the above-mentioned imaginary line and the lower edge of the natural eyebrow.

In the fourth step, the height position of the made-up eyebrows can be determined. Specifically, the position of the upper edge (upper line) or lower edge (lower line) extending in the left-right direction of the made-up eyebrows can be determined. Specifically, the position of the eyebrows can be determined based on the above-mentioned "eyebrow height ratio" (the ratio of the height from the lowest point of the lower eyelid to the average height of the lower edge of the eyebrow) and the above-mentioned "eyebrow upper edge height ratio." The upper and lower edges of the eyebrows may each be approximately straight extending in the left-right direction, or they may be curved and slightly protruding (curved) upward.

In the fifth step, the thickness of the eyebrow beginning and the thickness of the brow arch can be determined. Specifically, the thickness of the eyebrow beginning, the thickness of the brow arch, and the "brow arch thickness ratio" can be determined based on the above-mentioned "brow arch thickness ratio" (the ratio of the thickness of the brow arch to the thickness of the eyebrow beginning).

The eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment is used, for example, when a beauty consultant professionally applies eyebrow makeup to the face of a customer. Note that the above makeup method may also be used by the beauty consultant to apply eyebrow makeup to his or her own face.
In other words, the above makeup method may be applied by the user to his or her own face, or may be applied by a makeup artist to the face of a person receiving the makeup.

The makeup formulations used for the above-mentioned makeup are common products. For example, eyebrow pencils, eyebrow powders, eyebrow liquids, or eyebrow mascaras are used.

When applying eyebrow makeup, an applicator such as a makeup brush can be used. However, the makeup preparation can also be applied with a finger. The makeup preparation can be applied to the eyebrow itself and the skin around the eyebrow.

The eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment allows you to apply makeup to your own eyebrows using the first reference line, the second reference line, and the above-mentioned virtual line as references, making it relatively easy to implement. Moreover, applying makeup to your own eyebrows can bring your face closer to the good impression described in the facial impression evaluation method above. This allows your face to appear with a specific impression.

The eyebrow makeup method of the present invention can be performed non-therapeutically for cosmetic purposes to improve facial appearance, such as to make the face appear more youthful or smaller.
Specifically, it can be implemented for the following purposes:
・"Makes the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. appear closer to the center of the face"
・"Make eyes, nose, mouth, etc. appear larger or darker"
・"Make your face look smaller"
・"Makes your face look slimmer"

The above-described facial impression evaluation method, facial impression adjustment method, and eyebrow makeup method are suitable for use on the faces of middle-aged or older women or men. However, they may also be applied to the faces of younger women or men in their early 30s or 20s.

Here, a conventionally known general eyebrow makeup method will be described. For example, a general method is known in which the eyebrows are drawn by connecting the following three parts:
・The intersection of the straight lines connecting the ends of the nostrils and the inner corners of the eyes with your natural eyebrows. ・The intersection of the straight lines connecting the ends of the nostrils and the outer corners of the eyes with your natural eyebrows, slightly inside the intersection. ・The intersection of the straight lines drawn upward from the ear-side edges of the pupils of your left and right eyes with your natural eyebrows (the arch of your eyebrows).
A schematic diagram illustrating such a technique is shown in each of FIGS. 8A and 8B (I).

In particular, for aging women, the following conventional general eyebrow makeup method is also known: Specifically, a method is known in which makeup is applied to make the parts that look older with age appear younger, and then the general method described above is applied.
In this technique, nose shadow is applied to make the eyes, which have shifted toward the ears with age, appear to move inward.
To make the left and right upper eyelids, which have moved downward and toward the ears with the aging process, appear to have returned to their original position inward and upward, eye shadow and eyeliner, for example, are applied to the edges of the upper eyelids.
To make the outer corners of the eyes, which have shifted downward with age, appear lifted, for example, mascara can be applied to the outer corners of the upper eyelids.

It is generally known that the face changes as we age. Specifically, it is known that not only does the skin sag, but the skeleton (skull) that forms the face also changes with age.
Specifically, the temporal region of the skull caves inward, causing depressions in the temples. The eye sockets (the cavities that house the eyeballs) also expand downward and outward, causing the eyes to move in a similar manner. The piriform aperture (the entrance to the nasal cavity) also expands left and right, causing the nose to widen as well. The protrusion of the chin also decreases or shortens, resulting in excess skin around the chin and sagging of the facial line. Other symptoms include the forehead caves inward, and the upper jaw caves inward.
When the bone structure changes in this way, and the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. move accordingly, the positions of the eyes, nose, and mouth when a person is in their twenties are different from the positions of the eyes, nose, and mouth after aging. Therefore, even if the above-mentioned general eyebrow makeup method is applied to an aged face, it is difficult to achieve the intended finish. For example, the face may appear larger after makeup is applied.
Therefore, as described above, there may be cases where makeup is applied to make parts that look older look younger, and then the above-mentioned general makeup methods are further applied.
However, this type of makeup method is very complicated and is not necessarily preferable as a method of daily eyebrow makeup.

In contrast, in the makeup method of this embodiment, as shown in (II) of Figures 8A and 8B, makeup is applied to the natural eyebrows as described above, based on the first reference line, the second reference line, the virtual line, etc. Specifically, makeup is applied to the natural eyebrows in accordance with the first step (S1), the second step (S2), the third step (S3), and, if necessary, further steps.
The shape of one's own eyebrows varies depending on the individual. For example, the lower end of the eyebrow tail may be lower than the lower end of the eyebrow beginning, or the lower end of the eyebrow tail may be higher than the lower end of the eyebrow beginning.
The makeup method of this embodiment is a relatively simple makeup method that can be easily performed and can produce natural-looking eyebrows. In particular, drawing eyebrows becomes easier by marking horizontal lines that overlap the above-mentioned imaginary straight lines. The makeup method of this embodiment can be relatively easily performed on eyebrows of various shapes, as described above.

The present invention will now be described in more detail using examples, but the present invention is not limited to these.

<Makeup for natural eyebrows (test example)>
Makeup was applied to the natural eyebrows of multiple women. The shape (including the position) of the eyebrows after makeup was quantified using the distance from the first, second, and third reference lines as indicators.

(Determining the shape and position of eyebrows after makeup application)
Each term listed in Table 1A and Table 1B is explained below.
・Brow head position: The angle between the first reference line measured in the first step and the eyebrow head line. ・Brow tail position: The angle between the second reference line measured in the second step and the eyebrow quality line. ・Brow arch angle: The angle between the part of the lower edge farthest from the third reference line (the furthest part) and the furthest part of the broken line connecting both the left and right ends of the lower edge of the eyebrow, measured in the third step. ・Brow height ratio: The ratio of the height from the bottom edge of the lower eyelid to the height from the corner of the mouth to the bottom edge of the lower eyelid, measured in the fourth step.

<Visual confirmation of facial impression>
The subjects visually checked the impressions of the faces with eyebrow makeup done by the test example method and the faces with eyebrow makeup done by the comparative makeup method. The subjects compared their impressions by looking at the images of each face according to the evaluation items shown in Tables 2A and 2B. For the faces with eyebrow makeup done by the test example method, if the subject "thought so" about each evaluation item, the subject marked "Yes" in Tables 2A and 2B. The results for Groups A and B are also shown in Tables 2A and 2B, respectively.

As can be seen from the above results, the facial impression evaluation method of this embodiment was able to identify eyebrow shapes by employing indices closely related to a specific facial impression (such as the degree of distance from the first to third reference lines). Furthermore, by ensuring that the degree of distance that identifies the eyebrow shape falls within a predetermined range, the face could be presented with a specific impression.
As can be seen from the above results, the facial impression adjustment method of this embodiment makes it possible to give the face a specific impression by setting the index that specifies the eyebrow shape (such as the degree of distance from the first reference line to the third reference line) within a predetermined range.
As can be seen from the above results, the eyebrow makeup method of this embodiment allows for relatively easy makeup application to one's own eyebrows, and also allows the face to appear with a specific impression.

The eyebrow makeup method (test example) described above makes the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. appear closer to the center, or makes the face appear smaller or thinner. This is thought to be due to optical illusions.
For example, as shown in Figures 9(A) and (B), if multiple lines are drawn in the axial direction on the surface of a cylinder whose axis extends horizontally, an optical illusion occurs in which the vertical length appears shorter when multiple lines are drawn densely in the center (B) than when multiple lines are drawn at equal intervals (A).
Therefore, by drawing the eyebrows shorter (compared to those drawn using general eyebrow makeup methods) and positioning them at an appropriate position that is slightly lower, it is thought that the optical illusion that the eyebrows, eyes, nose, and mouth are closer to the center of the face will create the appearance of a shorter vertical length of the face.

Furthermore, for example, as shown in Figures 10(A) and (B), when multiple lines are drawn on the surface of a cylinder whose axis extends vertically, an optical illusion occurs in which the horizontal length (width) appears shorter when the multiple lines are drawn densely in the center (B) than when the multiple lines are drawn at equal intervals (A).
Therefore, by drawing the eyebrows shorter (compared to those drawn using typical eyebrow makeup methods), it is thought that the optical illusion of depth is created at both ends of the face, making the face appear narrower.

For example, as shown in Figure 11 (A) and (B), when the center of the circle is painted darker (B) than when the entire circle is painted darker (A), a three-dimensional illusion is created, making the area of the circle appear smaller.
Therefore, it is thought that by drawing eyebrows thickly, the central part of the face appears thicker, creating a three-dimensional illusion that makes the face appear smaller.

The facial impression evaluation method, facial impression adjustment method, or eyebrow makeup method of the present invention is used, for example, to make the faces of people, mainly middle-aged or older, who do not necessarily look youthful, look more youthful.
Furthermore, the facial impression evaluation method, facial impression adjustment method, or eyebrow makeup method is used, for example, to make the face of a person who has not yet aged appear smaller, to make the face appear firmer, or to make the facial impression clearer.
The facial impression evaluation method and facial impression adjustment method of the present invention are suitably used, for example, by a salesperson in a beauty salon or the like to counsel a customer on how to apply makeup.
The eyebrow makeup method of the present invention is suitably used, for example, in a beauty salon or the like, for application by a practitioner to a customer (person receiving the makeup).
