Description
The present invention relates to a shielding member.
A barrier known as a parcel shelf or tonneau cover is typically provided above the luggage compartment of a vehicle. Patent Document 1 (Japanese Patent No. 6080001) discloses a tray-shaped parcel shelf with a recessed portion that is rigid enough to support items placed on it.
Patent document 2 (Patent Publication No. 6193560) discloses a tonneau cover that has a sheet that shields the upper part of the luggage compartment, a bendable wire integrated into a loop shape, and a bag-shaped edging member that houses the wire, with the sheet sewn to the edging member.
Patent Document 3 (Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 53-121626) discloses an upper and lower partition shelf that divides a luggage compartment located in the rear of a vehicle into upper and lower compartments. The upper and lower partition shelf is configured by placing a base material such as a recycled paper molded product on a frame-shaped upper and lower partition shelf strength member, and attaching a covering material such as carpet or leather to the surface of the base material.
Patent Document 4 (Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 58-167257) discloses a flexible tonneau cover that can be rolled up. The flexible tonneau cover has multiple long support members extending in the width direction of the vehicle and a pair of sheets arranged to wrap around the long support members.
Patent Document 5 (Japanese Utility Model Application Laid-Open Publication No. 60-68845) discloses a rear shelf that is placed behind the seat back of a vehicle's rear seat. This rear shelf is configured with multiple (e.g., nine) belts made of rubber or a rubber-like material, each with both ends fixed to a support. The multiple belts are arranged with no gaps between them and are under a certain amount of tension.
The parcel shelf described in Patent Document 1 is a highly rigid, plate-shaped member that is heavy and expensive. In particular, when used in large vehicles, the parcel shelf becomes even larger and heavier, which goes against efforts to reduce the weight of vehicle parts and makes the parcel shelf itself difficult to handle. Furthermore, if a tall item is placed in the trunk and the parcel shelf described in Patent Document 1 is placed above it, the item in the trunk will abut against part of the underside of the parcel shelf, pushing it up, causing the parcel shelf to become tilted rather than held horizontally. In this case, despite the parcel shelf's sufficient rigidity, it becomes difficult to place items on it.
The tonneau cover described in Patent Document 2 is lightweight and easy to fold, but the sheet and wires are easily deformed, making it impossible to support items placed on the tonneau cover.
The upper and lower divided shelves described in Patent Document 3 are attached to a vehicle by attaching a frame-shaped upper and lower divided shelf strength member via a mounting bracket to a sidewall pipe attached to the inner wall of the luggage compartment. The structure for attaching the upper and lower divided shelf strength member to the sidewall pipe via the mounting bracket is complex, making the installation process tedious.
The flexible tonneau cover described in Patent Document 4 is attached in an unfolded state to a shelf portion of a rear side member of the vehicle body when used as a luggage storage shelf, and is removed from the shelf portion and rolled up when not in use. The flexible tonneau cover is designed to be easily attached and detached from the shelf portion and can be rolled up when removed from the shelf portion. However, due to its poor rigidity, it may be difficult to place and support items on the flexible tonneau cover even when attached to the shelf portion.
The rear shelf described in Patent Document 5 allows for easy access to luggage in the trunk below by spreading out multiple belts made of rubber or rubber-like materials. However, the multiple flexible belts are tightly spaced but not fixed to each other, making it difficult to support heavy items on the easily deformable rubber or rubber-like materials. Furthermore, the task of fastening all of the multiple flexible belts to the support is cumbersome.
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a shielding member that is simple in structure, easy to attach to a vehicle, lightweight, and capable of supporting items placed on it.
The present invention provides a luggage compartment shielding member provided in a vehicle, comprising a shielding unit capable of shielding at least a portion of an opening of the luggage compartment from above, the shielding unit comprising a pair of metal reinforcing members arranged at a distance from each other in a first direction and each extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a pair of resin retaining members each retaining both ends of the pair of reinforcing members in the second direction, and a sheet-like member covering a space enclosed by the pair of reinforcing members and the pair of retaining members, the space enclosed by the pair of reinforcing members and the pair of retaining members extending continuously from one reinforcing member to the other reinforcing member in the first direction, and extending continuously from one retaining member to the other retaining member in the second direction, and being open except for the portion covered by the sheet-like member .
The present invention provides a shielding member that is simple in construction, easy to attach to a vehicle, lightweight, and capable of supporting items placed on it.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[First embodiment]
1 is a side view that schematically shows a portion of a vehicle 1 equipped with a shielding member of the present invention. The vehicle 1 has a luggage compartment 3 behind seats 2 (rearward (rear side) in the direction of travel). The luggage compartment 3 is open upward and rearward. For convenience, the portion of the luggage compartment 3 that is open upward will be referred to as the upward opening, and the portion that is open rearward will be referred to as the rearward opening. An openable back door 4 is provided at the rearmost portion of the vehicle 1 so as to close the upward opening and the rearward opening of the luggage compartment 3. The closed state of the back door 4 is shown by a solid line, and the open state is shown by a two-dot chain line.
A shielding member 5 is placed in the luggage compartment 3 to cover the opening at the top. Figure 2A is a perspective view showing the shielding member 5 of the first embodiment of the present invention, Figure 2B is an exploded perspective view of the shielding member 5, and Figure 2C is a cross-sectional view of the center of the shielding member 5, omitting the holding member 7. Figure 2D is a cross-sectional view of the center of a shielding member 5 with the holding member 7 omitted, in which the sheet-like member 8 is wrapped in a different manner.
The shielding member 5 is a shielding unit capable of shielding at least a portion of the opening of the luggage compartment 3 from above, and primarily comprises three types of components: a pair of reinforcing members 6, a pair of retaining members 7, and a sheet-like member 8. The reinforcing members 6 are elongated members made of metal (e.g., iron or aluminum) that are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction (first direction) D1 of the vehicle 1 and extend in a width direction (second direction) D2 perpendicular to the longitudinal direction D1. The pair of retaining members 7 face each other at a distance in the width direction D2. One retaining member 7 is a resin molded product that holds one end of the reinforcing member 6 in the width direction D2, and the other retaining member 7 is a resin molded product that holds the other end of the pair of reinforcing members 6 in the width direction D2. The sheet-like member 8 covers the space enclosed by the pair of reinforcing members 6 and the pair of retaining members 7. The sheet-like member 8, a pair of reinforcing members 6, and a pair of holding members 7 are fixed together to form the shielding member 5. The shielding member 5 is held in place covering the opening of the luggage compartment 3 by placing the holding members 7 on engaging portions 9 (see FIG. 1 ) provided on the side walls of the luggage compartment 3. The portions of the holding members 7 that abut against the upper surfaces of the engaging portions 9 are the mounting portions for the shielding member 5. The reinforcing members 6 are not limited to members with a U-shaped cross section, and may be members of other shapes (for example, cylindrical or prismatic). Various members may be disposed inside the reinforcing members 6.
In the configuration shown in Figure 2C, the sheet-like member 8 is positioned and fixed so as to contact two surfaces (top surface and one side surface) of the outer periphery of the reinforcing material 6. However, as shown in Figure 2D, the sheet-like member 8 may be positioned and fixed so as to wrap around three surfaces (top surface, one side surface, and bottom surface) of the outer periphery of the reinforcing material 6. In this case, the sheet-like member 8 can be stably fixed to the reinforcing material 6 by attaching a rod-shaped core member 10 to the reinforcing material 6 and fixing the ends of the sheet-like member 8 to the core member 10.
In this embodiment, the sheet-like member 8, reinforcing member 6, and holding member 7 of the shielding member 5 may be secured to one another by tapping. FIG. 3A is a perspective view illustrating an example of a method for securing the sheet-like member 8, reinforcing member 6, and holding member 7, and FIG. 3B is a partially cross-sectional perspective view of a key portion of the shielding member 5. The end of the sheet-like member 8 in the front-to-rear direction D1 is positioned so that it contacts a portion of the reinforcing member 6. The through-holes 8a in the sheet-like member 8 and the through-holes 6a in the reinforcing member 6 are aligned. Then, screws 16 passing through the through-holes in the sheet-like member 8 and reinforcing member 6 are threaded into the holding member 7 to secure the respective members 6, 7, and 8 to one another. In this case, the sheet-like member 8 and reinforcing member 6 are screwed to the holding member 7 from the rear (underside) side of the shielding member 5.
Figure 3C is a perspective view illustrating another method of fixing the sheet-like member 8, reinforcing member 6, and holding member 7, and Figure 3D is a side view of the reinforcing member 8. The reinforcing member 6 can also be attached to the holding member 7 with a screw 16 or pin (not shown) inserted from the side of the shielding member 5. In this case, a U-shaped screw engagement portion 6b, for example, is provided on the reinforcing member 6. The sheet-like member 8 can then be screwed to the holding member 7 with a screw 16 inserted from the back side (underside) of the shielding member 5, similar to the configuration shown in Figures 3A and 3B. Note that Figures 3A and 3C show only one reinforcing member 6; the other reinforcing members 6 are not shown.
In the shielding member 5 of this embodiment, the sheet-like member 8 is held by a highly rigid metal reinforcing member 6. Although the sheet-like member 8 is a thin, flexible member, the reinforcing member 6 essentially supports the weight of the item, allowing the item to be placed on and supported. The shielding member 5 of this embodiment allows the item to be placed on and supported, similar to the parcel shelf of Patent Document 1, for example. However, since the parcel shelf of Patent Document 1 does not have a plate-like base material, which is the heaviest and most expensive component, the shielding member 5 of this embodiment achieves reduced cost and weight. For example, in a configuration similar to Patent Document 1, the plate-like base material weighs approximately 3,000 g/ m² and the covering material attached to the surface of the base material weighs 150 g/ m² , for a total weight of approximately 3,150 g/ m² . In contrast, in this embodiment, the total weight of the sheet-like member 8 and the reinforcing member 6 is approximately 1,100 g/ m² . Because the shielding member 5 of this embodiment is lightweight, it can be used not only in small three-door vehicles, but also in place of a rollable tonneau cover in larger vehicles where a rollable tonneau cover is normally used.
Furthermore, the shielding member 5 of this embodiment does not include a substrate with a complex shape having uneven portions for the sake of rigidity and heat deformation resistance. If a skin material were to be applied to the surface of a substrate with a complex shape having uneven portions, there would be limitations on the material and method of forming the skin material in order to ensure close contact with the surface of the substrate. For example, a skin material is applied by molding a needle-punched nonwoven fabric so that it adheres closely to the surface of the substrate. However, the shielding member 5 of this embodiment does not have a substrate to which the sheet-like member 8 must be closely attached, and there are almost no limitations on the material and method of forming the sheet-like member 8. For example, a sheet-like member 8 made of leather, jersey, knit, etc. could be used, which increases the degree of design freedom and enhances the aesthetic appeal. The sheet-like member 8 may be held in a taut, flat state under tension, or it may be held in a somewhat loose state.
The sheet-like member 8 can be easily removed from the reinforcing member 6 and the retaining member 7, for example, by removing the screws 16, and replaced with another sheet-like member 8 made of a different material or design. In other words, the design can be easily changed by simply replacing the sheet-like member 8, without having to replace the entire shielding member as with conventional parcel shelves or wrap-around tonneau covers. For example, it is possible to use a cloth-like sheet-like member 8 that prevents the interior of the luggage compartment 3 from being seen from the passenger compartment, or a coarse mesh-like sheet-like member 8. However, it is preferable that the coarse mesh-like sheet-like member 8 also be strong enough to allow items to be placed on it.
Figures 4A and 4B show a modified example of the shielding member of this embodiment. As shown in Figure 4A, the holding member 12 of the shielding member 11 of this modified example has a thin-walled portion 12a extending in the width direction (second direction) D2 at a midpoint in the fore-and-aft direction (first direction) D1 of the vehicle 1. The shielding member 11 is rotatable around the thin-walled portion 12a of the holding member 12, and this rotational movement allows it to be folded as shown in Figure 4B. In this folded state, the sheet-like member 8 between the pair of reinforcing members 6 may hang down.
With this configuration, the shielding member 11 can cover not only the entire opening of the trunk 3, but also a portion of the opening of the trunk 3 with the folded shielding member 11. Covering only the front portion of the opening of the trunk 3 with the folded shielding member 11 and leaving the rear open allows for easy loading and unloading of items into and from the trunk 3 from the rear of the vehicle 1. Covering only the rear portion of the opening of the trunk 3 with the folded shielding member 11 and leaving the front open allows for easy loading and unloading of items into and from the trunk 3 from the front of the trunk 3, i.e., from the seat 2 (see Figure 1) side of the passenger compartment. Furthermore, unlike when the shielding member 11 is completely removed from above the opening of the trunk 3, a storage space for the removed shielding member 11 is not required. Since the shielding member 11 can be kept above the opening of the trunk 3, no extra space is required. The shielding member 11 of this embodiment allows for easy selective placement of these two states. By folding the shielding member 11 when not in use, it can be kept in a compact state.

Second Embodiment
A shielding member according to a second embodiment of the present invention will now be described. FIG. 5A is a perspective view of a shielding member 13 according to the second embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 5B is a side view schematically illustrating a state in which the shielding member 13 covers the opening of the luggage compartment 3. FIG. 5C is a side view showing two shielding units 14 of the shielding member 13. FIG. 5D is a side view schematically illustrating a state in which the shielding member 13 covers only a portion of the upward opening of the luggage compartment 3. FIG. 5E is a side view showing two shielding units 17 according to a modified example of the second embodiment. In the first embodiment of the present invention described above, the shielding members 5 and 11 are each composed of only one shielding unit, but in the second embodiment, the shielding member 13 is composed of multiple shielding units 14. Each shielding unit 14 has substantially the same configuration as the shielding member 5 according to the first embodiment, and includes a pair of reinforcing members 6, a pair of holding members 7, and a sheet-like member 8. As shown in FIGS. 5A and 5B , the multiple shielding units 14 are arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction (first direction) D1 of the vehicle 1 to shield the opening of the luggage compartment 3. The holding members 7 of the multiple shielding units 14 arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction D1 are connected to the holding members 7 of adjacent shielding units 14. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 5C , a hinge mechanism 15 is provided at the connecting portion between the holding members 7 of adjacent shielding units 14. The hinge mechanism 15 allows the holding members 7 of adjacent shielding units 14 to rotate about a rotation axis 15a extending in the width direction (second direction) D2 of the vehicle 1. The rotation of the shielding units 14 by the hinge mechanism 15 allows at least some of the shielding units 14 to be erected so as to extend diagonally or vertically, or multiple shielding units 14 to be stacked vertically, as shown in FIG. 5D . The hinge mechanism 15 may include a spring member. The hinge mechanism 15 may be located at the upper part, lower part, or middle part of the holding member 7 in the vertical direction of the vehicle 1.
In this embodiment, as with the modified example of the first embodiment, it is possible to easily select between a state in which almost the entire opening of the luggage compartment 3 is covered by multiple shielding units 14, a state in which only the front portion of the opening of the luggage compartment 3 is covered by some of the shielding units 14, leaving the rear portion open, and a state in which only the front portion of the opening of the luggage compartment 3 is covered by some of the shielding units 14, leaving the rear portion open. This makes it easy to load and unload items 31 into and out of the luggage compartment 3 from the rear of the vehicle 1, and also from the front of the luggage compartment 3 (the seat 2 side of the passenger compartment). Furthermore, the position at which the shielding units 14 shield the opening can be determined depending on the size of the items 31 placed on the shielding members 13 and the items 31 stored in the luggage compartment 3, making it adaptable to loading and storing items 31 of various sizes. Furthermore, when the shielding member 13 is composed of three or more shielding units 14 as shown in Figures 5A to 5D, the shielding member 13 can be held in an even more compact state when not in use than in the modified example of the first embodiment.
Although not shown, the shielding unit 14 located furthest forward in the longitudinal direction D1 of the vehicle 1 may directly or indirectly engage with the back of the seat 2 (rear seat) adjacent to the luggage compartment 3. In this case, the shielding unit 14 moves in accordance with the tilting (reclining) movement of the seat 2. Therefore, the tilting (reclining) movement of the seat 2 does not make it difficult to load or remove items 31 from the luggage compartment 3, and the luggage compartment 3 can remain in a state where items 31 can be easily loaded or removed.
FIG. 5E is a side view showing two shielding units 17 according to a modified example of the shielding member of the second embodiment of the present invention. In this modified example, a hinge mechanism is not provided at the connection portion between the holding members 7 of adjacent shielding units 17. Instead, the connection portion includes a thin-walled portion 18 formed integrally with the holding members 7 of the adjacent shielding units 17 and extending in the width direction D2. That is, in this modified example, the connection portion between the holding members 7 of adjacent shielding units 17 is formed by the thin-walled portion 18 formed integrally with those holding members 7. In this embodiment, rotation of adjacent shielding units 17 about the thin-walled portion 18 as a virtual axis of rotation can cause at least some of the shielding units 17 to stand upright and extend diagonally or vertically, or multiple shielding units 17 to overlap one another. This allows the aforementioned effects to be achieved with this modified example. Furthermore, because a hinge mechanism is not required, the connection portion can be constructed easily and at low cost. The thin portion 18 may be located at the upper portion, lower portion, or middle portion of the retaining member 7 in the vertical direction of the vehicle 1 .
The configuration and effects other than those described above are substantially the same as those of the first embodiment, and therefore description thereof will be omitted.
[Third embodiment]
A shielding member according to a third embodiment of the present invention will now be described. FIG. 6A is a side view schematically illustrating a state in which the shielding member 19 according to the third embodiment of the present invention covers the upward opening of the luggage compartment 3. FIGS. 6B to 6D are side views schematically illustrating a state in which the shielding member 19 covers only a portion of the upward opening of the luggage compartment 3. In the third embodiment of the present invention, the shielding member 19 is composed of multiple shielding units 20, as in the second embodiment. Each shielding unit 20 has substantially the same configuration as the shielding member 5 according to the first embodiment, and includes a pair of reinforcing members 6, a pair of holding members 7, and a sheet-like member 8. In this embodiment, the holding members 7 of adjacent shielding units 20 are not connected to each other. That is, the multiple shielding units 20 aligned in the longitudinal direction D1 of the vehicle 1 are arranged separately from each other. A plurality of engaging portions 9 for mounting the holding members 7 of each shielding unit 20 are provided on the side walls of the luggage compartment 3. This configuration eliminates the need for hinge mechanisms or thin-walled portions, thereby reducing costs. In this embodiment, multiple shielding units 20 can be positioned independently of each other, which allows for a great deal of freedom in terms of which parts of the opening of the luggage compartment 3 to be shielded and which parts to be open, and also allows for a great deal of freedom in setting the size of the parts to be shielded and the size of the parts to be open.
In the configuration shown in Figures 6A to 6D, multiple shielding units 20 are located at different heights in the vertical direction. Therefore, multiple shielding units 20 can be arranged so that they overlap each other vertically and are spaced apart vertically. In this case, as shown in Figure 6B, tall items 31 can be placed in the luggage compartment 3, and small items 31 can be placed and supported on each shielding unit 20, resulting in a high capacity for storing a variety of items 31. In particular, if the sheet-like member 8 of the shielding unit 20 is not in a taut state under tension but is somewhat loose, relatively large items 31 can be placed on the shielding unit 20. By loosening the sheet-like member 8, the space between the pair of reinforcing members 6 can be used to store the items 31. This is because, in the present invention, there is no plate-shaped substrate or the like between the pair of reinforcing members 6, leaving space available.
At least one shielding unit 20 may be configured to be rotatable around one side in the front-to-rear direction. As shown in Figure 6C, by rotating at least one shielding unit 20 to an upright position extending in the vertical direction, an item 31 can be placed on or removed from the lower shielding unit 20 without removing the shielding unit 20.
As shown in Figure 6D, by arranging some of the multiple shielding units 20 in positions that are offset in plan view and do not overlap in the vertical direction, a larger item 31 can be placed on top of the lower shielding unit 20 and supported. In this embodiment, the multiple shielding units 20 are not connected to each other and can be arranged independently, so the planar positions of the shielding units 20 can be shifted to match the size of the item 31 to be placed on the shielding units 20.
In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 6E, a configuration may be adopted in which a plurality of shielding units 20 are positioned at the same height in the vertical direction.
The configuration and effects other than those described above are substantially the same as those of the second embodiment, and therefore description thereof will be omitted.
[Fourth embodiment]
A shielding member according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention will now be described. FIG. 7A is a side view of the shielding member 21 according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention, showing the state in which the back door 4 is closed. FIG. 7B is a side view of the shielding member 21 showing the state in which the back door 4 is open. In this embodiment, as in the second and third embodiments, the shielding member 21 is composed of a plurality of shielding units 22. Each shielding unit 22 has substantially the same configuration as the shielding member 5 according to the first embodiment, and includes a pair of reinforcing members 6, a pair of holding members 7, and a sheet-like member 8. In this embodiment, the shielding unit 22 located at the rearmost position in the longitudinal direction D1 of the vehicle 1 is connected to the back door 4 of the vehicle 1 by a connecting member (e.g., a string member 23). That is, one end of the string member 23 is fixed to the rearmost shielding unit 22, and the other end is fixed to the openable/closable back door 4. With this configuration, the shielding units 22 move in accordance with the opening and closing of the back door 4. Particularly preferably, at the same time that the back door 4 is opened, at least a portion of the shielding unit 22 moves upward to increase the open area of the opening of the luggage compartment 3. Since a user often opens the back door 4 to put items in or take items out of the luggage compartment 3, in this embodiment, opening the back door 4 opens the opening of the luggage compartment 3 more widely, making it easier to put items in or take them out. Note that the connecting member is not limited to the string member 23, and connecting members of other types may also be used.
In this embodiment, it is preferable that the shielding unit 22 located furthest forward in the longitudinal direction D1 of the vehicle 1 directly or indirectly engages with the back of the seat 2 (rear seat) adjacent to the luggage compartment 3. This allows the shielding unit 22 to move in accordance with the tilting (reclining) movement of the seat 2. Therefore, the tilting (reclining) movement of the seat 2 does not make it difficult to load or unload items into or from the luggage compartment 3, and the luggage compartment 3 can be maintained in a state where it can be easily loaded or unloaded.
In this embodiment, the multiple shielding units 22 are preferably connected to one another, as in the second embodiment. However, as in the third embodiment, the multiple shielding units 22 may be separate and not connected to one another. Also, although not shown, in this embodiment, the shielding member 21 may be configured to consist of only a single shielding unit 22. Note that the configuration and effects other than those described above are substantially the same as those of the first to third embodiments, and therefore will not be described here.
Fifth Embodiment
A shielding member according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention will be described. Fig. 8A is a side view showing the shielding member according to the fifth embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 8B is a side view showing a modified example of the shielding member according to the fifth embodiment. The shielding unit 24 according to this embodiment has substantially the same configuration as the shielding member 5 according to the first embodiment, and includes a pair of reinforcing members 6, a pair of holding members 7, and a sheet-like member 8. In the example shown in Fig. 8A, a rollable flexible sheet-like cover member 25 is provided, which can be placed in a state overlapping the sheet-like member 8 in the vertical direction of the vehicle 1 and a state in which the cover member 25 does not overlap the sheet-like member 8 in the vertical direction but is positioned next to the sheet-like member 8 in the fore-aft direction D1. A winding mechanism 26 for winding the cover member 25 is disposed in the space below the sheet-like member 8 between the pair of reinforcing members 6 of the shielding unit 24. When flexible sheet-like cover member 25 is pulled out from the position overlapping sheet-like member 8 and positioned alongside sheet-like member 8 in the front-to-rear direction D1, cover member 25 and shielding unit 24 cooperate to cover the opening of luggage compartment 3. When the open area of the opening of luggage compartment 3 needs to be widened, cover member 25 can be wound up by winding mechanism 26 located between the pair of reinforcing members 6 and in the space below sheet-like member 8. However, when cover member 25 is not in use, cover member 25 can also be held hanging down as shown by the two-dot chain line in Fig. 8A .
8B , a slidable plate-like member 27 is provided that can overlap the sheet-like member 8 in the vertical direction of the vehicle 1 and can be positioned alongside the sheet-like member 8 in the fore-and-aft direction D1 without overlapping the sheet-like member 8 in the vertical direction. The plate-like member 27 can slide between a position protruding outside the shielding unit 24 as shown by the solid line in FIG. 8B and a position housed inside the shielding unit 24 as shown by the two-dot chain line in FIG. 8B . When the plate-like member 27 is slid outward from the shielding unit 24 and positioned alongside the sheet-like member 8 in the fore-and-aft direction D1, the plate-like member 27 and the shielding unit 24 work together to cover the opening of the luggage compartment 3. To widen the open area of the opening of the luggage compartment 3, the plate-like member 27 is slid and pushed into the shielding unit 24.
According to this embodiment, even when the shielding member is made up of only a single shielding unit 24, the shielding unit 24 can be made smaller by the area of the opening of the luggage compartment 3 that can be covered by the cover member 25 or plate-shaped member 27. Furthermore, when the shielding member is made up of multiple shielding units 24, the cover member 25 or plate-shaped member 27 functions as a substitute for the shielding unit 24, allowing the number of shielding units 24 to be reduced.
[Shielding member mounting mechanism]
A configuration for attaching a shielding unit of a shielding member of the present invention to an interior wall of a vehicle will now be described. The shielding unit of the present invention is attached to the vehicle 1 by engaging a portion of a holding member 7 with a portion of the interior wall of the vehicle 1. In the example shown in Figures 1 and 6A to 6E, a shelf-like protrusion 9 is provided on the interior wall of the vehicle 1, and the holding member 7 is placed and held on the protrusion 9. That is, the protrusion 9 is the engagement portion, and the portion of the holding member 7 that rests on the protrusion 9 (the portion that contacts the protrusion) is the attachment portion. However, as another example of a configuration for attaching a shielding unit of a shielding member to an interior wall of a vehicle, as shown in Figure 9A, a cylindrical protrusion 28 can be provided on the holding member 7, and a recess into which the protrusion 28 fits can be provided on the interior wall of the vehicle, although not shown. In this configuration, the recess provided on the interior wall of the vehicle is the engagement portion, and the cylindrical protrusion 28 of the holding member 7 is the attachment portion. In this case, the shielding unit can be configured to rotate around the engagement portion between the protrusion 28 and the recess. It is effective to configure the shielding unit to be rotatable by fitting the cylindrical protrusion 28 of the holding member 7 into a recess in the interior wall of the vehicle, because this fitting portion contributes to the attachment of the shielding unit to the interior wall of the vehicle and the rotational movement of the shielding unit as shown in Figures 5A to 7B. It is preferable to provide the protrusion 28 near the end of the holding member 7 in the fore-and-aft direction D1.
Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 9B, two cylindrical protrusions 28 may be provided on the holding member 7, and two recesses (not shown) into which the protrusions 28 fit may be provided on the interior wall of the vehicle. In this configuration, it is preferable that the protrusions 28 be able to retract from the recesses. In this case, the shielding unit can rotate around either of the two protrusions 28, allowing the shielding unit to rotate forward or backward. In other words, the direction of rotation of the shielding unit can be selected as desired depending on the position from which items are to be placed in or removed from the luggage compartment 3, making the process of placing or removing items easier. In this configuration, it is preferable that two protrusions 28 be provided near both ends of the holding member 7 in the fore-and-aft direction D1. Note that while the configuration shown in FIGS. 9A and 9B features protrusions 28 on the holding member 7 and recesses on the interior wall of the vehicle 1, it is also possible to provide protrusions on the interior wall of the vehicle 1 and recesses on the holding member 7 into which the protrusions fit.
In a configuration in which the shielding unit can slide in the fore-and-aft direction, as in the third embodiment, the shielding unit's holding member 7 can be provided with a slender mounting portion 30 that extends linearly in the fore-and-aft direction, as shown in Figure 9C. In that case, as shown in Figure 9D, a rail (engagement portion) 29 with which the mounting portion 30 engages is provided on the interior wall of the vehicle 1. This configuration allows the shielding unit to slide smoothly.
The various configurations of the engagement portion and attachment portion described above can be adopted as desired in each of the previously described embodiments. Furthermore, in these configurations, although not shown, a cushioning material can be interposed between the engagement portion and the attachment portion to prevent noise and vibration. The cushioning material may be a nonwoven fabric attached to the engagement portion or attachment portion, or it may be a soft resin formed integrally with the engagement portion or attachment portion by two-color molding or the like.
