Description

The present invention relates to a karaoke system.

Karaoke establishments such as karaoke booths use a management device installed at the front desk or elsewhere to manage various aspects of their operations. For example, the management device manages the usage time for each karaoke machine installed in each room of the establishment. Based on the usage time managed by the management device, karaoke establishment employees will contact customers to inform them that their usage time is about to expire and inquire about whether an extension is required. Room users will need to respond verbally to these notifications and inquiries.

For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a karaoke system in which the front desk terminal sends end notification information to the karaoke terminal five minutes before the end of the karaoke session. If no response is received from the karaoke terminal and the end time has passed, the system performs end processing. However, if a response is received from the karaoke terminal and the response is an extension instruction, the system sends information for selecting an extension time, and if a response is received, the system updates the end time in the management table according to the response.

However, when applying for an extension using the technology in Patent Document 1, the user must operate a keypad, which detracts from the atmosphere of the karaoke singing experience.

The object of the present invention is to provide a karaoke system that allows users to easily request an extension of their usage time.

One invention for achieving the above object is a karaoke system in which a management device and karaoke devices are communicatively connected, wherein the management device has a notification unit that sends usage end information to a karaoke device whose usage time is approaching the end, the notification unit including extension possibility information indicating whether the usage time of the karaoke device can be extended, and an extension processing unit that extends the usage time of the karaoke device when it receives extension application information requesting an extension of the usage time from the karaoke device that sent the usage end information including the extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended; and the karaoke device has a notification unit that notifies the user of the karaoke device that the usage time is approaching the end, a determination unit that determines whether a specified word is included in the voice input via a sound collection means if the received usage end information includes the extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended, and an extension application unit that sends extension application information to the management device when the specified word is included.

==Karaoke System==
The karaoke system includes a management device and karaoke devices. The management device and the karaoke devices are connected to each other so that they can communicate with each other. As shown in Figure 1, the karaoke system 1 according to this embodiment includes a management device F and karaoke devices K1 to K3.

The management device F is a computer installed in the karaoke store S. The management device F performs various management tasks at the karaoke store S, such as managing the usage time of the karaoke machines installed in each room. The employee W performs front desk duties at the karaoke store S.

Karaoke devices K1 to K3 are devices for performing karaoke and for users to sing karaoke. As shown in FIG. 1, in this embodiment, karaoke device K1 is installed in room R1, karaoke device K2 is installed in room R2, and karaoke device K3 is installed in room R3. Management device F and each karaoke device can communicate via a network within karaoke store S, such as a LAN. Users U1 to U3 are users of karaoke device K1. Note that while FIG. 1 shows an example in which there are three karaoke devices, there only needs to be at least one karaoke device.

Each room is equipped with a lighting device and a sound collection device. The lighting device is a light for adjusting the brightness of the room. The sound collection device is a microphone for collecting sounds within the room, such as the voices of users. As shown in FIG. 1, in this embodiment, lighting device IL1 and sound collection device SC1 are installed in room R1, lighting device IL2 and sound collection device SC2 are installed in room R2, and lighting device IL3 and sound collection device SC3 are installed in room R3.

==Management device==
The configuration of the management device F will be described with reference to Fig. 2. As shown in Fig. 2, the management device F includes a storage unit 10, a communication unit 11, a display unit 12, an input unit 13, and a control unit 14. Each component is connected to the bus B via an interface (not shown).

[Storage means, communication means, display means, input means]
The storage means 10 is a large-capacity storage device that stores various types of data. In this embodiment, the storage means 10 associates device identification information with usage time and stores the information as reservation information. The device identification information is information specific to the karaoke device installed in each room, such as an ID assigned to each karaoke device. The usage time is the time during which a user can use the karaoke device. The usage time can be set according to the user's request. Note that typically, one karaoke device is installed in each room. In other words, since there is a one-to-one correspondence between karaoke devices and rooms, the usage time of the karaoke device is equal to the usage time of the room.

The communication means 11 provides an interface for communicating with each karaoke machine. The display means 12 is a display that displays various information. The input means 13 is configured to allow employees to input various instructions. If the display means 12 is configured in a touch panel format, the display means 12 may also function as the input means 13.

For example, suppose a customer visiting a karaoke store requests "two hours" as the length of time they wish to use the karaoke machine. In this case, the employee uses the input means 13 to specify a karaoke machine that is not currently in use and inputs the usage time as "two hours." The storage means 10 links the device identification information of the specified karaoke machine with the input usage time, and stores this as reservation information.

[Control means]
The control means 14 performs various controls in the management device F. The control means 14 includes a CPU and a memory (neither of which is shown). The CPU executes programs stored in the memory to realize various functions.

In this embodiment, the control means 14 functions as a notification unit 100 and an extension processing unit 200.

(Notification Department)
The notification unit 100 transmits end-of-use information to a karaoke device whose use time is nearing the end.

Usage end information is information that notifies a karaoke machine that the usage time requested in advance is about to end. Usage end information also includes extension availability information. Extension availability information indicates whether the usage time of a karaoke machine can be extended. Extension availability information is created based on the reservation status of a karaoke machine (described below).

The notification unit 100 monitors the usage time included in the reservation information stored in the storage means 10. When the remaining usage time meets a predetermined condition, the notification unit 100 generates usage end information to be sent to the karaoke device corresponding to the device identification information linked to the usage time. The predetermined condition is set in advance, such as "less than 5 minutes" or "less than 3 minutes."

In addition, at the time the usage end information is generated, the notification unit 100 checks whether other reservation information containing the same device identification information as the device identification information linked to the detected usage time is stored in the storage means 10.

If no other reservation information is stored, or if the usage time included in the other reservation information is later than the extension time, the notification unit 100 creates extension availability information indicating that the usage time can be extended and includes this in the usage end information. The extension time is set to a predetermined time, such as "one hour from the current time."

On the other hand, if other reservation information is stored and the usage time included in that reservation information overlaps with the preset extension time, the notification unit 100 creates extension availability information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended and includes this in the usage end information.

As a specific example, let's say the available extension time is "1 hour from the current time," the detected usage time is "18:00-20:00," and the current time is "19:55."

Here, if the usage time included in the other reservation information is "22:00-24:00," the usage time included in the other reservation information is later than the extension possible time (one hour from the current time, i.e., 19:55-20:55). Therefore, the notification unit 100 creates extension possible information indicating that the usage time can be extended, and includes this in the usage time.

On the other hand, if the usage time included in the other reservation information is "20:30-22:30," the usage time included in the other reservation information overlaps with the extension-allowed time (19:55-20:55). Therefore, the notification unit 100 creates extension availability information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended, and includes this information in the usage time.

The notification unit 100 sends usage end information, including extension availability information, to the karaoke device corresponding to the device identification information.

(extension processing section)
When the extension processing unit 200 receives extension application information from a karaoke machine that has transmitted usage end information including extension availability information indicating that the usage time can be extended, the extension processing unit 200 extends the usage time of the karaoke machine.

Extension request information indicates a request to extend usage time.

When the extension processing unit 200 receives extension application information from a karaoke machine, it extends the usage time associated with the device identification information of that karaoke machine stored in the storage means 10. The extension time is set in advance to a certain amount of time, such as "30 minutes."

==Karaoke Equipment==
A karaoke machine is a device for playing karaoke music and for users to sing karaoke. Since the karaoke machines K1 to K3 shown in Fig. 1 all have the same configuration, the following description will be made using the karaoke machine K1 as an example.

As shown in FIG. 3, the karaoke device K1 includes a karaoke main unit 20, a speaker 30, a display device 40, a microphone 50, and a remote control device 60.

The karaoke machine main unit 20 performs various controls related to karaoke performance and singing, such as controlling the performance of selected songs, displaying lyrics and background images, and processing audio signals input through the microphone 50. The speaker 30 is configured to emit sound based on signals from the karaoke machine main unit 20. The speaker 30 is an example of a "sound emission means." The display device 40 is configured to display videos and images on a screen based on signals from the karaoke machine main unit 20. The microphone 50 is configured to convert the singing voice of the user singing karaoke into an analog audio signal and input it into the karaoke machine main unit 20. The remote control device 60 is a device for performing various operations on the karaoke machine main unit 20.

As shown in FIG. 4, the karaoke unit 20 includes a storage unit 20a, a communication unit 20b, an input unit 20c, a performance unit 20d, and a control unit 20e. Each component is connected to a bus B via an interface (not shown).

The storage means 20a is a large-capacity storage device for storing various data, such as accompaniment data for karaoke performance.

The communication means 20b provides an interface for communication with the remote control device 60, the management device F, the lighting device IL1, and the sound collection device SC1. The input means 20c is configured to allow the user to input various instructions. The input means 20c is a button or the like provided on the karaoke main unit 20. Alternatively, the remote control device 60 may function as the input means 20c.

The performance means 20d performs karaoke performance of songs and processes signals based on singing voices input through the microphone 50 under the control of the control means 20e. The performance means 20d includes a sound source, mixer, amplifier, etc. (none of which are shown).

[Control means]
The control means 20e performs various controls on the karaoke device K1. The control means 20e includes a CPU and a memory (neither of which are shown). The CPU executes programs stored in the memory to realize various functions.

In this embodiment, the CPU executes a program stored in memory, causing the control means 20e to function as a notification unit 300, a determination unit 400, and an extension request unit 500.

(Notification Department)
When the notification unit 300 receives the usage end information, it notifies the user of the karaoke machine that the usage time is about to end.

The notification can be made in various ways. For example, the notification unit 300 can notify the user of the karaoke device that the end of the usage time is approaching by controlling the performance means 20d so that the volume of the sound being emitted from the sound emitting means gradually decreases.

Specifically, when the usage time of karaoke device K1 is nearing the end, karaoke device K1 receives usage end information from management device F. When usage end information is received, notification unit 300 controls performance means 20d so that the volume of the sound emitted from speaker 30 (such as the singing voice of the karaoke singer, the karaoke performance sound, or the sound of commercials played between songs) gradually decreases. The user can tell that the usage time is nearing the end by the volume of the sound being emitted.

Alternatively, the notification unit 300 may issue a notification by controlling a lighting device. For example, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended, and if no karaoke performance is being performed on the karaoke device, the notification unit 300 can control a lighting device to gradually darken the room in which the karaoke device is installed.

Specifically, let's say that the usage end information received from the management device F includes extension availability information indicating that the usage time can be extended. In this case, the notification unit 300 checks whether a karaoke performance is taking place on the karaoke device K1. Generally, when a karaoke performance is taking place, the room is darkened to create a lively atmosphere. Conversely, when a karaoke performance is not taking place, the room is brightened to make it easier to search for songs, etc.

When no karaoke performance is being performed on karaoke device K1 (i.e., when the room is bright), notification unit 300 controls lighting device IL1 to gradually darken room R1 in which karaoke device K1 is installed. Even though no karaoke performance is being performed, the room becomes dark, allowing the user to understand that the end of their usage time is approaching, but that they can extend their usage time.

Furthermore, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended, and if karaoke performance is being performed on the karaoke machine, the notification unit 300 can control the lighting device to gradually brighten the room in which the karaoke machine is installed.

Specifically, suppose the received usage end information includes extension availability information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended. In this case, the notification unit 300 checks whether a karaoke performance is being performed on the karaoke device K1.

When a karaoke performance is being performed on karaoke device K1 (i.e., when the lighting in the room is dim), notification unit 300 controls lighting device IL1 to gradually brighten room R1 in which karaoke device K1 is installed. Even though a karaoke performance is being performed, the room becomes brighter, allowing the user to understand that the end of the usage time is approaching and that extension of the usage time is not possible.

Alternatively, the notification unit 300 may notify by displaying a message on the display screen of the display device 40 or the remote control device 60. Two messages are preset: one to be used when the usage time can be extended, and one to be used when the usage time cannot be extended.

For example, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended, the notification unit 300 causes the display device 40 to display a message informing the user that the usage time is about to end and that extension is possible.

Specifically, suppose the received usage end information includes extension availability information indicating that the usage time can be extended. In this case, the notification unit 300 displays a message on the display device 40 such as "The usage time is about to end. You can extend it now. If you wish to extend it, please call for an encore!". The message lets the user know that the usage time is about to end, but that it is possible to extend the usage time.

Furthermore, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended, the notification unit 300 causes the display device 40 to display a message informing the user that the usage time has ended.

Specifically, suppose the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended. In this case, the notification unit 300 displays a message on the display device 40 such as "The usage time is about to end. The next reservation has been made, so please prepare to leave immediately." The message lets the user know that the usage time is about to end and that it cannot be extended.

The notification unit 300 can also combine the control of the performance means 20d, the control of the lighting device IL1, and the display of messages. In this case, the user can more reliably know when the usage time has ended and whether it can be extended.

(Judgment Department)
If the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended, the determination unit 400 determines whether or not the voice input via the sound collection means includes a predetermined word.

The predetermined words are words that a user may utter when requesting an extension of their usage time, such as "encore" or "extension requested." At least one predetermined word is set in advance. The sound collection means collects sounds from within the room. The sound collection means may be a sound collection device installed within the room, or a microphone provided on the karaoke machine.

In this embodiment, when usage end information is received that includes extension availability information indicating that the usage time can be extended, the determination unit 400 controls the sound collection device SC1 to collect sound from within room R1.

The determination unit 400 uses known audio processing technology to analyze the audio input via the audio collection device SC1 within a predetermined period (for example, from the start of audio collection to the end of the usage time) and extracts words contained in the audio. The determination unit 400 compares the extracted words with predetermined words and determines whether the predetermined words are included among the extracted words. The determination unit 400 outputs the determination result to the extension request unit 500.

(Extension Application Department)
If the predetermined word is included, the extension request unit 500 transmits the extension request information to the management device.

If the input determination result indicates that the specified word is included, the extension request unit 500 generates extension request information, links it to the device identification information, and sends it to the management device F. In this case, the management device F performs processing to extend the usage time included in the reservation information for karaoke device K1 stored in the storage means 10. Note that if there are multiple reservation information for karaoke device K1, the management device F performs processing to extend the usage time for the reservation information that includes the current usage time (the time when the extension request information was received).

On the other hand, if the input result indicates that the specified word is not included, the extension request unit 500 does not perform any special processing. In this case, after the usage time has elapsed, the management device F deletes the reservation information for the karaoke device K1 stored in the storage means 10 (reservation information for which the usage time has expired).

==About processing in the karaoke system==
Next, the processing in the karaoke system 1 according to this embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 5. Fig. 5 is a flowchart showing the processing in the karaoke system 1. In this example, as shown in Fig. 1, three users U1 to U3 visit a karaoke establishment S and use a karaoke device K1 installed in room R1. The storage means 10 of the management device F has previously stored the usage times requested by users U1 to U3, linked to the device identification information of the karaoke device K1. It is assumed that no other karaoke devices in the karaoke establishment S are in use.

Users U1 to U3 who have entered room R begin using karaoke device K1 (start of use; step 10).

The notification unit 100 of the management device F manages the usage time of the karaoke device K1 (usage time management; step 11).

When the end of the usage time is approaching (Y in step 12), the notification unit 100 sends usage end information to the karaoke device K1, including extension availability information indicating whether the usage time of the karaoke device K1 can be extended (transmit usage end information; step 13).

When the notification unit 300 of karaoke device K1 receives the usage end information transmitted in step 13, it notifies users U1 to U3 of karaoke device K1 that the end of their usage time is approaching (notifying that the end of usage time is approaching; step 14).

Here, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended (Y in step 15), the determination unit 400 determines whether the audio input via the sound collection device SC1 contains a specified word.

If the specified word is included (Y in step 16), the extension request unit 500 sends the extension request information to the management device F (Send extension request information; step 17).

When extension request information is received from karaoke device K1, the extension processing unit 500 of management device F extends the usage time of karaoke device K1 (extending the usage time of the karaoke device; step 18).

If the received usage end information includes extension availability information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended (N in step 15), or if the voice input via sound collection device SC1 does not include a specified word (N in step 16), karaoke device K1 will not generate extension request information. In this case, users U1 to U3 can sing karaoke for the requested usage time.

As is clear from the above, karaoke system 1 according to this embodiment comprises a management device F and karaoke devices K1 to K3 connected to each other so that they can communicate with each other. Management device F has a notification unit 100 that sends usage end information to a karaoke device whose usage time is approaching the end, including extension availability information indicating whether the usage time of the karaoke device can be extended. In addition, the notification unit 300 of the karaoke system 1 according to this embodiment can notify the user of the karaoke device that the end of their usage time is approaching by controlling the performance means 20d so that the volume of the sound emitted from the speaker 30 gradually decreases. By automatically reducing the volume of the sound emitted from the speaker 30 in this way, the user can know that the end of their usage time is approaching.

Furthermore, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended and no karaoke performance is being performed on the karaoke device, the notification unit 300 of the karaoke system 1 according to this embodiment can control the lighting device to gradually darken the room in which the karaoke device is installed. On the other hand, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time cannot be extended and karaoke performance is being performed on the karaoke device, the notification unit 300 can control the lighting device to gradually brighten the room in which the karaoke device is installed. In this way, by controlling the lighting device and adjusting the brightness of the lighting in the room, the user can easily know that the usage time is nearing the end and whether the usage time can be extended.

<Modification 1>
For example, when multiple people are using a karaoke machine, a certain word may be accidentally uttered during conversation even though no extension of the usage time is requested. Therefore, the determination unit 400 according to this modification can determine whether the voice input via the sound collection means contains a predetermined number of the certain word or more. The extension request unit 400 according to this modification can transmit extension request information to the management device F only when the predetermined word or more is contained a predetermined number of times. The predetermined number is set in advance, for example, 10 times.

Specifically, as in the embodiment, the determination unit 400 analyzes the audio input via the audio pickup device within a predetermined period of time using known audio processing technology and extracts words contained in the audio.

The determination unit 400 compares the extracted words with predetermined words and determines whether the extracted words contain a predetermined number or more of the predetermined words. The determination unit 400 outputs the determination result to the extension request unit 500.

If the input judgment result indicates that the specified word is included a specified number of times or more, the extension request unit 500 generates extension request information and sends it to the management device F. On the other hand, if the input judgment result indicates that the specified word is not included a specified number of times or more, the extension request unit 500 does not generate extension request information.

In this way, in the karaoke system 1 according to this modified example, the determination unit 400 determines whether the audio input via the sound collection means contains a predetermined number of predetermined words or more. If the predetermined number of predetermined words or more is found, the extension request unit 500 transmits extension request information to the management device F. This karaoke system 1 can prevent unintended extensions of the user's usage time.

For karaoke stores, it is preferable to extend the usage time if there is no next reservation for the karaoke machine currently in use. The audio is, for example, the applause, whistling, and cheers of the audience. Data corresponding to the content is stored in advance in storage means 20a.

As described in the embodiment, when usage end information is received, the notification unit 300 controls the performance means 20d so that the volume of the sound emitted from the speaker 30 gradually decreases. Here, if the received usage end information includes extension availability information indicating that the usage time can be extended, the notification unit 300 reads data corresponding to the content from the storage means 20a and starts playback after the sound emitted from the speaker 30 becomes silent. As the content is played, an image is displayed on the display screen of the display device 40 and sound is emitted from the speaker 30. The user can watch the content until the usage time expires.

In this way, in the karaoke system 1 according to this modified example, if the received usage end information includes extension possibility information indicating that the usage time can be extended, the notification unit 300 can start playing content to encourage the user to extend the usage time after the sound emitted from the sound emitting means becomes silent. By using such content, the user can be encouraged to utter a predetermined word such as "encore," thereby increasing the likelihood that the usage time will be extended.
